When has a politician undergone punishment?
by Karthic Sitaraman on Jul 26, 2008 11:24 PM  Permalink

Even a 2 year old kid knows that our politicians are corrupt to a collosal scale. The amounts bandied about are huge. From independence we have seen umpteen enquiries and commissions but have never seen a single politician undergoing punishment for his misdeeds. Corruption is nothing even murder is pardoned if the guy is politically useful.

Majority in the committee are supporting the govt. And the report also will probably be accordingly.

Rajdeep is biased!
by Sastry on Jul 26, 2008 10:50 PM  Permalink

Most of the print and electronic media is anti BJP and Rajdeep is particularly so. If only the BJP MPs kept silent, we would have been watching the CDs on all TV channels day in day out. Remember Bangaru Laxman being shown accepting one lks rupees. While Quatrochi is enjoying crores of rupees. I am not justifying Bangaru laxman, But the media always behaves against BJP.

I can predict the result.

When poaching and purchasing has become the order of the day, is it possible for the committee to give a report confirming that these activities are true. The charge will be set aside for lack of evidence by 6-1 or 5-1 if lefts chose to abstain from supporting the govt.

It reminds me of the saying "What should be done if the fence that is supposed to guard the farm itself starts grazing the farm?"

Stay on the trust vote result
by Gopal on Jul 26, 2008 09:54 PM  Permalink

The Speaker should have ordered the investigation with a time frame. Not more than two weeks.
In the first instance he should have ordered a 'STAY' on the result of the trust motion. I do not know the legal implications. The final result should be declared after deciding on the enquiry report. The present move is to 'dilly dally' the issues so that the robber can find a safe place to hide. The men with the N-deal. India has nothing to do again till it pass all doors.
People are after the many other issues cropped up through out the country. I mean the TERRORISM. The special interests will take care of moving the N-deal along many doors to find its final destination. Let us wait and see how the Central Government tackle the issues of terrorism.
They are very slow in identifying the offenders.

SOMNATH CHATERJEE - CHEAP POLITICIAN.
by nishu kutty on Jul 26, 2008 09:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

DURING 1989, THE LEFT ALONG WITH BJP COMMONLY FOUGHT FOR THE OUSTER OF CONGRESS (RAJIV GANDHI) AND EVEN FORMED A GOVERNMENT.

DURING THAT TIME CHOMNATH CHATERJEE WAS SLEEPING IN HIS TOILET.

AGAIN DURING THE NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION AGAINST THE NARASIMHA RAO GOVERNMENT IN 1991, LEFT VOTED WITH THE BJP AGAINST CONGRESS GOVT.

DURING THAT TIME ALSO SOMNATH DHAA WAS IN HIS TOILET.

BUT NOW SUDDENLY IN 2008, HE HAS WOKEN UP AND HAS BECOME A TRUE SECULARIST.

LETS US NOT FORGET THAT SOMNATH CHATERJEE FOUGHT FOR SAURAV GANGULI’S INCLUSION INTO THE INDIAN TEAM AS A BENGALI, EVEN A LALLOO PRASAD WILL NOT DO.

HE ALSO GOT A SLAP FROM CHAPPEL, THE EX-INDIAN COACH, TO MATTER HIS OWN BUSINESS IN PARLIAMENT RATHER THAN INTERFERING WITH INDIAN CRICKET SELECTION POLICIES FOR WHICH “SOMNATH THE GREAT” CRIED.

HE IS THE MOST PARTISAN SPEAKER TO HAVE ADORNED THE POST AND A CHEAPEST POLITICIAN.

HIS INDICATION TO HIS PARTY THAT HE CANNOT BE SEEN VOTING WITH THE BJP (IMPARTIAL SPEAKER????) IS HIS REAL FACE.

NO SPEAKER IN THE LAST 15-20 YEARS HAS BEHAVED AS CHEAPER AS THIS PERSON.

LETS US NOT FORGET THAT LAST YEAR BACK, SOMNATH CHATERJEE COMPELLED LEFT AND CONGRESS FOR MAKING HIM PRESIDENT OR VICE-PRESIDENT WHICH NEITHER PARTY REFUSED.

HIS REAL INTENTION IS TO GRAB THE PRESIDENT CHAIR AND ALSO NOT TO MISS THE BENEFITS OF SPEAKERS CHAIR.(INCLUDING COMMENWEALTH SPEAKERS SUMMIT).

BUT, NOW HE IS ACTING AS IF HE IS A GREAT POLITICIAN WHICH THE NEWS CHAN

Investigating Committee - What ?
by rajesh prajapati on Jul 26, 2008 09:47 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is the last thing I expected the speaker to do - appoint a committee of MPs to investigate MPs from a complaint made by MPs against other MPs !! Send a thief to catch a thief!
Moreover, the composition of the committee - One member each from the Cong, BJP, SP, BSP, RJD, CPIM, DMK is enough to prove that it cannot work from Day 1. And they will be doing the job which requires the skills of an intelligence officer without the bias and pressures from political bosses!
I am reminded of the famous saying "A committee is a group of people who individually can do nothing but collectively CAN DECIDE that NOTHING CAN BE DONE"
God help my country !

The tapes has already been edited to their convenience by another true secularist-Rajdeep Sardesai who is a great upholder of Indian Democracy.
