You have shown complete statesmanship not budging to the diktat of Mr.Karat. Imagine a situation where the motion was defeated. We would not have a Speaker, a President, a Vice President or the Chairman of Rajya Sabha. Why? because as per Mr.Karat's philosophy the President and the Vice President should have resigned immediately had the motion got defeated as both of them were fielded by Congress/UPA and have been members of Congress.
