I think the expulsion of Somnathji is the begining of the end of CPM. God bless the country.

Somnath defection to Congress was his long cherished dream
by S Shrikanth on Jul 24, 2008 04:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Lets mind these words:

Debabrata Biswas of the Forward Bloc felt Chatterjee "was never a Leftist. Be it his attitude or lifestyle, he was a bourgeois to the core".

He was always soft towards Congress.

What he meant was that Somnathji was not unreasonable which is a basic quality that a communist should possess. He was intelligent, and that also makes him disqualified for a true communist. He was guided by the interest of the country which makes him an enemy of the communist party.

CPM WRONG AGAIN
by Aditya Consul on Jul 24, 2008 04:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

After taking a wrong step by withdrawing support to the UPA government, the Communist Parties have taken up another wrong step. Somnath Chatterjee did nothing wrong as a speaker has to be unbias always and it was the decision of the Left front to elect him as the speaker. He very well did his job which costed him his 40 years association with the CPM. I am sorry for the Left Front. They will have to pay heavily in the long run.

How they are wrong? It is their Internal decision.

You should be happy that Somnath is now free to go anywhere. He is not in the party which you are criticizing.

You should actually celebrate it.

Somnathji should celebrate it. Agreed. But how can we celebrate? Karat and his followers are going to do similar things to the detriment of the country. That is the lament.

May be Communist party was wrong in withdrawing its support to UPA ,
but you can never say they are wrong in taking disciplinary action against its own member who denounced it for say any reason.

Narrow minded Karat
by Bilal M Akhtar on Jul 24, 2008 04:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Once you are elected as speaker ,you are above party. In UK the mother of democracy, no one contersts against a speaker from his constituency. Karat whose training is in totalitarian regime like former USSR and China does not know the etiquette of democracy and democratic norm, hence he has expelled Somnath Chatterjee - who has uphold the dignity of the post so far

Expulsion of Somnath Chatterjee from CPI(M)
by Guest on Jul 24, 2008 04:14 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The decision taken by Polit Bureau and Central Committee of CPI(M)is absolutely correct. Mr. Chatterjee has broken the disciline of the party and acted against the constitution of the party which in turn has tarnished the image of the party. His expulsion shows that in Communist party,an individual is not bigger than the party instead party is bigger than the individual.

"Individual is not bigger than the party" - what a joke in the context of Prakash Karat thinking along with the old foggies in the Politburo that he is bigger than the country. This party historically has behaved like a traitor in the name of idealogy that is sadly practiced in the capuses of JNU.

And dear guest, is the party's constitution BIGGER than the country's constitution? Is Mr. Karat bigger than the Left party in this country? I dont understand the high handedness of Mr. Karat, looks like if given charge of the country , Mr. karat will resort to DICTATORSHIP.
