it is time for mr somnath to make his stand clear for y he didnt follow his party line 1.if he felt that voting with BJP is a shame...then he could have abstained.....also one thing mr chaterjee...u r the one who voted with the BJP in 1993(just an year after bbri masjid was demolished)...at that time BJP was secular?............come on sir.....i dont have age to find fault with u....but plz make ur stand clear
traitor somnaths reserved his place in CPM by doing chamchagiri of jyoti basu.once he got the speaker post he got carried away with the powers/ riches /luxuries of high office . no wonder just like all UPA polictians he is one of the richest Polictians of bengal.
If traitor somnath quits his MP post which he won due the party and recontests , he will not get more than 6 votes(that of his family). If he is so sure ask him to quit the parliament and fight election as an independent. as a independent he is not answerable to anyone and he can take his own decisions. But if he wins on a party ticket,, his victory is due to the lakhs of ordinary party workers (their labour and money) , so traitor somnath dont get carried away with the Governor post being offred by UPA. If traitor somnath has the guts in his balls get your self relected on a non CPM ticket

It is not like call igoistic. You should not tell like that. He is correct in his policies. What Karat was doing, when the prices are raising and inflation going up. Why left is going to vote for bjp. left should quit when oil prices hikes immediately. he wants to cheat the country first. he is doing as per his wish. and can you please tell me, for whom he has selected chief of left parties. without wb and tripura, where are left parties exist. then you can tell from kerala. can you confirm whether they can come for the next year. so stop wrinting in discussion box. politics is a notorious thing.
Speaker is being made scapegoat in an attmept to divert attention of wrong egoistic calculations of Prakash Karat in the first place and CPM following it blindly and foolishly.
Their first instruction to ask Speaker to step down in itself was wrong as anyway in case of a tie Speaker would have cast the vote. So CPM was not losing any vote due Speaker not voting.
Also, having made Mr Chatterjee Speaker, CPM should understand that they are asking him to rise above party not only during Loksabha sessions but for the entire tenure of Speaker.
Left and CPM could not rise to Nations expectations. Hope at least they rise to the expectations of their own cadre.

And if there were a tie as you said, this man would not cast against the UPA government alongwith BJP in his own words. He would have supported the Congress which is again violating the Party's decision to oppose.

Thats speculation.
He had objections for sure but voting against party line is probably, he may not have done considering 40 years of CPM membership. He may have voted earlier also with BJP, when Left and BJP were on the same side.
This shows that Dr. Manmohan Singh was right when he said the CPM is treated them as Bonded Labour. This seems it also appears for the MP of the CPM as Prakash Karat treated them.
Why Prakash Karat will include Somenath's name in the withdrawal of Support list & send that to President withourt consulting him.
Mr. Somenath Chatterjee has start a revolution against the CPM party.
As in the next General Election , CPM will not get more that 5 -6 Seats.
I don't agree with the CPI (M) decision of expelling the party decision. I am NOT a Communist nor agree & follow the ideology. In my opinion, the decision of Somnathda is absoluteoy right of staying as the Speaker as that position does not belong to any political party and is above party cadre. Bravo Somnathda.

Ideal opportunity for Somnathda to retire from public life and spend time with his wife and grandchildren. To stay fit and be a presidential condidate after 4 yrs

If that be the true case, he should not have given the reason that he did not vote against the Congress alongwith the BJP. Somnath is not above rotten politics though holding the Speaker's chair. He wanted to be in power and so is continuing against the Party's dictums. In case he thought he is above partylines, he should have on his resigned from the CPI on selection as Speaker four years ago.
Somnath is double side faced idiot. On one side he pretends that the Speakers post in neutral. On the other hand he does everything in the Parliament to protect the UPA Alliance and congress members.
Everyone knows he has been paid well by the ruling party to go against the diktat of CPM
Now he does not have to smile politely at Karat even while thinking inside how nice it would be to take a kitchen knife and cut out Karat's tongue, and maybe his brains!!!!
This is party which thought that the post of the speaker of Lok Sabha is just like any party post where they are supposed to toe the official line like a mute herd of cattle. These people cannot rise above this mental block. We cannot blame them. They are brain washed with some rotten ideology which has never worked anywhere. That is ok. It happens to every one if we are not careful. The other ideologies also work on the same principle. Taliban, and all terrorist groups also believe that what they do is the right thing and others are to be eliminated. These are the last gasping for breath of our left and soon we will have other more dangerous groups taking up the vacuum created by them
Whether one likes or it, the Left group is more disciplined than the others. Like RSS, it's a cadre based party more known for its discpline. Unlike Chatterjee, who is highly educated and was never a grass root worker, most of the Central Committee members have risen from the grass root level and they know the importance of party's ideology, principles and values. All said and done, Chatterjee may be a successful parliamentarian, he might have been successful in his professional career but he has proved to be an indisciplined person after having been in the party for more than 40 years. CPM has seen more stronger and able leaders than this man Somnath Chatterjee.. It is high time that having been expelled by the leftists, other groups like NDA and UNPA should not get associated with him as he is seen more as a Congress man.
your article says "expressing unhappiness with the party position and voting alongside the Bharatiya Janata Party against the government. ". Still he has no party? What ever he is, is due to the party he belongs. Can he win a panchyat seat on his own as independent??
