After serving for 40 years and in the process expelling many serving members of the CPI-M Party and on similar disciplinary grounds, Somnath Chatterjee has forgotten the past it seems. One question arises to the common mind that if it was just out of the lure of power & position that he took the decision to stick to the Speaker's post. He must have known that he would technically help the government and not his parent body. Probably CPIM (& the left)is one of the few parties & wherein the allurements did not leave an effect and they stood disciplined as ever. As regards to the moral positioning of the Speaker's post is concerned, Somnath Chatterjee has set no example too & when he mentioned that he would not like to vote alongside the BJP party. This was an unique example of partisan politics and when the speaker needs to be highly apolitical. In fact he is dis-regarding the millions of voters (& the democracy) who have voted for the BJP. Mr. Karat, the Central committee & Politburo have set the right example to their party and the nation as regards to maintaining discipline is concerned. Also it would be interesting to watch the recordings of the sting and more so because the PM had quite loudly mentioned that if there is any proof of bribes(pay offs) then should be brought in front....is it now as "classified" as the N-Deal :) ....
