Did the money had finger prints of Ahmed Patel or Amar Singh or his account number or his number or his address or any other proof that the money belonged to either Ahmed Patel or Amar Singh , this is a case of Khayali Pulav which could not be given a proper Masala and Tadka and which later got burnt . Statesman.....................who?
by thomas kuttiyil on Jul 24, 2008 11:33 AM  Permalink

A statesman Manmohan? I would like to describe him a "bonded slave of Nehru-Gandhi dynasty". In his reply to the trust vote, he praised Rajiv Gandhi for initiating a structural reform in India, but forgot to mention Narasimha Rao who brought him in Minsitry and gave him the important Ministry of Finance portfolio. I don't belittle Rajiv Gandhi, but it was Rao who unleashed the reform that India is today enjoying.Manmohan should have had the courtesy to acknowledge it rather than being a mute slave! India is not Sonia(congress) and Sonia is not the present and future!

PM - A statesman ?
by Rajarshi Sengupta on Jul 24, 2008 11:33 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I would have accepted Manmohan as a statesman , had he get himself elected through popular vote into the Lok Sabha.

I would have accepted Manmohan as a statesman , had he not resorted to aayaram-gayaram politics & dissolved lok sabha to seek fresh mandate.

I would have accepted Manmohan as a statesman , had he remained graceful like Vajpayee & submitted his resignation ( Remember 13 day government in 1996) only to come back as a morally stronger Prime Minister.

The obvious comparison comes to play a crucial role to decide whether Manmohan is a Statesman. Vajpayee, once in 1996 & again in 1999, made graceful exit once he realised that majority is not with him. He never looked desperate to cling to post of Prime Minister.
Manmohan did just the opposite. He has proactively adopted all means, fair & foul, to remain Prime Minister.
People of India will deliver their verdict on Manmohan in the same way it has done so on Narasimha Rao in 1996.

I would like to add a few more situations:

* The country and world would have accepted MMS as a Leader / Statesman, if he had prevented the shameful dissolution of Bihar Assembly based on a subservient governor's report. The world now knows what kind of scriptures were passed by the highest judicial forum of this country on this move. (APJ Abdul Kalam unwittingly became party to this misadventure)

* The country and world would have accepted MMS as a leader / statesman if he had prevented the harafiri / toppling of Govts. in Jharkhand and Goa, instead of passively supporting his party moves.

* All of us would have agreed that he is a statesman, if he had gone ahead with the n-deal (if he was so convinced of its benefits) 18-24 months ago, instead of waiting so long (anyway, elections could not be held for 3-6 months, even if the govt had lost trust vote and normally they were due more or less by the same time!).

Rediff wrote yesterday that Congress might have won the battle but has lost the war.

I wouldn't be surprised if UPA fails in the coming elections (2009), may not be because of the n-deal, but because of the defective policies and priorities which have seen prices skyrocketing, lack of electricity, water, stagnation in agriculture, lack of meaningful reforms etc.

It is about US selling arms
by Suraj Singh on Jul 24, 2008 11:30 AM  Permalink

Myth #14: The deal is not primarily about making money; it is about creating a new U.S. strategic relationship in south Asia.

Fact: The deal is primarily about making money. The main effect of the deal will be to pardon India – to remove it as a violator of international norms. After such a change in status, there will be no impediment to U.S. arms sales. This is where the real money is, not in nuclear reactors. U.S. exporters have mentioned selling as much as $1.4 billion worth of Boeing airliners, hundreds of F-16 or F/A-18 fighter jets, as well as maritime surveillance planes, advanced radar, helicopters, missile defense and other equipment. The Russian press has even complained that the nuclear deal is a ploy to squeeze Russia out of the Indian arms market.

SUPER PRIME MINISTER
by IndianEconomy on Jul 24, 2008 11:28 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I am reading so many comments like WEAK, PUPPET, SLAVE towards this gentleman. Is anybody think that a strong PM must have AK47 in both hands and always telling lies to the people or spilling useless words in front of media.

MMS is the real strong PM. He never take a back step towards his goal. As a gentleman he refers to his party members and his party cheif. Is it mistake , so he become puppet to anybody. Is Mr Vajpayee take his own decision before consulting his party members. Do not use WEAK, PUPPET. He is strong , gentle, humble man.

Why the Left cannot get any single paisa advantage from China for India. What they have did while China supplying Missiles/Technology, Nuke tech to Pakistan.

whatever your party's ideology and ways to win election (may be even unscrupulous)...but, we should remember that in every party, there are excellent, gentleman, individuals who would go by their own values in life and principles... and we should always learn from people like our Prime Minister, Shri Vajpayee, (Sir Kalam), to name a few.

Unfortunately, in today's goondaraj society qualities such as modesty and politeness are taken as signs of weakness. MMS is not like other buffalo-brained politicians who just know how to bray like asses

For shameful & treacherous people you have to use similar tactics. You can't preach them Patriotism, Ethics and character.

In long run people will forget trust vote, they will remeber good part of deal.

ISI, China & Iran tried their level best to derail the nuclear deal......

Why CPM against the deal?

Why Muslim SP MP oppose it?

There are lot of undercurrents........

MMS is a person with unblemished characer otherwise he would have choosen to be with CPM and complete its tenure and mint money....

He definetly risked his govt for better future of country.............All Defence strategist, APJ Kalam, Scientist are behind him even Brijesh Mishra from BJP camp.....
