BJP MPs behaviour pathetic
by Himalay on Jul 23, 2008 12:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It was black day in the parliament not only yesterday, it is a black day in parliament whenever BJP deceides to enact their drama in the Parliament in such pathetic manner, are these unruly thugs MPs?? children in KG are better behaved. And to think that BJP party represents the hindu culture, Is this hindu culture, such unruly behaviour, lies talk, threatening opposition and not allowing opposition speakers to speak during a national debate, personal attacks on eminent personalities...etc etc. This seems more like pakistani culture not hindu culture.

The Politics of Cross-Voting
by All Right on Jul 23, 2008 12:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The analysis of cross-voting indicated that 6 SP MPs switched to BSP and 1 Congress MPs switched over to the BJP.

These cross-voting started 10 days ago with Mayawati and BJP parading their defectors. BJP tried poaching more Congress

MPs like Jalappa, whose son is already a BJP MLA in Karnataka. Congress was supposed to lose as many as 4 MPs to the BJP

and the SP was being targeted by UNPA for a vertical split.

The best form of defense was offense and the UPA-SP retaliated in kind to not only stem the tide but to put both the

UNPA and NDA on the defensive.

So Mayawati, Karat and Advani maybe crying crocidile tears now. They have been worsted in their own game. Losers

by ceejo thomas on Jul 23, 2008 12:19 PM  Permalink

I dont think PM was nervous about voting himself since he wouldnt have had to vote since he is not a member of Loksabha. He is a member of Rajya Sabha

Not 14 cross-voting. But total 21. 6 SP MPs switched to BSP and 1 Congress MPs switched over to the BJP. Add to that is that Mayawati-Karat poached JDS and RLD away from the UPA. That makes 13 MPs.

These jokers were paraded by Mayawati, Prakash Karat and the BJP. Mayawati threatened to vertically split the SP and the BJP threatened at leat poach 4 more Congress MPs.

So UPA_SP played the same game. The UNPA & BJP lost out.

There is no ethics in politics...as our constitution is like that....Change the constitution....

ALLOW THE LEADER OF THE LARGEST PARTY TO BE PM FOR FIVE YEARS. IT IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO PREVENT HORSE TRADING.

Shame on us.
by Chandu on Jul 23, 2008 12:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Yesterday's incidents in the parliament did cast a dark shadow on our belief in the democratic set up of this country. It is a shame to all of us that the democracy which we hail and feel proud of, was nothing but a bundle of notes worth Shame. Our MPs can be bought for a few bundle of currency notes. Aren't they more dangerous than the terrorists and smugglers. What credibility these MPs have to continue in the parliament ? what action will be taken against them to re-build the lost confidence on our democratic system in the minds of the ordinary citizens of this country. As usual, everyone including the media will forget this incident as just another 'story' in the coming days.

Congress has now got middle class support
by Chaliya on Jul 23, 2008 12:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

this support for it had declined with the rise of BJP in the 90s when a whole lot of middle class got brainwashed with the ram mandir thing. now with nuke deal in the numerous surveys seen on tv done on urban city dwlling people, congress has regained its vote base in the cities. this will help them in the next elections. A congress win with 200 plus votes is not impossible. best thing would be congress gets 200 plus votes and also BJP in next elections and smaller regional parties are sidelined. this will create a good ruling party and opposition in indian parliament which will make India grow faster.
