How could people like Sangliana and Manorama Madhwaraj taken money and cross voted. These people are known for their integrity. I definitly think they beleived in the cause. I think MPs do need the freedom of voting according to their conscience. They are elected representatives and they should be allowed that freedom. This party whip system as part of floor-crossing rule gives no room for anyone to act on their own and just makes elected representatives puppets of party president. Nobody even has the spine to fight against this anti floor-crossing law.

If they want to follow their conscience they should be elected as Independents and should not contest an election on ticket of a political party. Period

People do not vote for MPs because they know them, they vote for party from whom they have gotten ticket... There is no MP conscience..

100% correct...Why should MPs vote for the party... they should vote for the country?
This absurd.... were they elected to serve the country or their party.... they should vote what is good for the country and not what 1 or 2 say in the party....
I have tried hard to recollect if I could remember anybody in Indian or International History where a person of 82 age "clamouring so much for power", bringing country to a standstill, sacrificing self-respect (if any) by tying up with the lady (Maya) who had dumped them twice in UP, playing all (dirty) tricks in the book (like was done in Parliament yesterday-the currency notes), even crossing the decency limits...Somebody should tell him that in Hindu shastra, there is a stage in life after 75 where a real hindu person relinquishes all worldy pleasures and takes Vanvaas (goes to jungle). Now since he is such an ardent follower of Lord Ram, there can be no better Hindu than him. So he should immediately go to some forest to devote his remaining life peacefully to Lord Ram. May be in his next birth he can become a PM (as a Congressman of course).

If we went by your interpretation of Vanavasa, India would have not had two of it's best PMs- Vajpayee and Narasimha Rao. And if we just plump for any youth like Rahul-babu, then god save India. Indian men get wise very late, unlike western counterparts by the time they are out of parents' shadows and start life on their own they have lost at least 20 years. And besides performance not age should be the criteria be it films, Sports and especially politics- where wisdom counts above all.

Dear Friends, you may know that under the anti defection law if MP violate official stand of the party then he/she be disqualified from the membership of that particular house of representative. Since the MPs who cross voted in yesterday's confidence vote are no more bonafide members of LS then how come ruling party can claim they got majority to rule. Thus the ruling party is again in minority and should be asked to test its strength. This will stop MP's (horse) trading and no MP will be allowed to act against their official party stand. If some members want to violate official stant of their party then must be 2/3rd of party strength. Thus yesterday's confidence vote is a rude play of BJP who secretly joined hands with Congress to stop Bahenji Mayawati becoming PM.

No use of elections next year, when any buffon like manmohan Singh can retain his prime minitership by buying MPs of other parties. Why should a common man waste his time by voting. Indian democracy has gone to the dogs because of bribe givers (MMS) and the dalals.

please...use common sense.... do u think the regional parties r saints. take a break... Mayavati came from a slum... now she has millions.... so do all the rest of the politicians...
You talk about Mr.Singh... look what properties he has now..nothing.. u should be ashamed of yourself. know your ABCs before u talk...Easy to talk... i can bet if u had been in his position u would have sold 3/4 of india ....or will be person who would vote ur caste or religion person even if the candidate was a criminal
Prostitution, corruption, rape exists in our society since we came into existence. People who commits such crime are part of our society. If MPs are behaving like prostitutes than the media is behaving like their pimps. If the CNN IBN wanted to expose this crime, they should have broadcast the sting operation. How much money they got from the BJP for this operation. Then there are politician lawyers like Arun Jetley, Ravishankatr Prasad, Kapil Sibbal, R. K. Anand, Jethmalani to defend or to criticize this act. Common man don't understand who is right or who is wrong. The same media is responsible for defaming Arushi's father for her murder. During GATT Agreement, every opposition party said that we will become slave of USA.. what happened ...nothing. USA sees Modi in line with Radovan Karadizic and Slobodan Milosevic for genocide. Thats the reason VISA is regularly denied by the USA. The same group of BJP is responsible for opposing this Indo-US nuclear deal. The Party (BJP) who initiated this deal...how they can oppose it. The same group is responsible for hijacking the Indo-Pak peace talk during Bajpeye regime... Advani and Bajpaye were not aware of the activities this group. The same group is responsible for taking terrorists like Zargar and Maulana Masood Azhar to Kandahar airport. Our ex-prime minister Mr. Bajpeye gave the names of freedom fighters to the British government. All have saw Mr. V.P. singh, Mr. Mufti, Mr. Advani, Mr. Bajpeye eating laddoos when Rubiya Saye

Have you any idea who is after Advani ? I think he is 95 . In congress there are more young bloods like Rahul, Sachi, Jyothir, even Chidambaram etc etc. . In BJP only one face is late Mahajan's son Rahul. Have he freed from jail after the drug case and slapping wife?

Sahadevan,
Hindu fundamentalists killed Bhagat Singh? Are you on drugs? This is the problem with left parties. They indulge in such stupid fairy tale that their rightful stance on other issues gets ignored.
