why not use the abundant coal to generate power, and produce steel from plenty iron ore. Japan has done that by eating our ore n coal. Curb coal mafia, utilise high quality iron ore, construct India. then think of deals.

They've considered all that and found that to keep up a good pace of growth, we would need to depend on Nuclear power. Otherwise, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam wouldn't have endorsed it, dude..

DR.APJ kalam is selective talker while he did not open his mouth to denounce RAM SETHU project either on economic ground or environmental problems or ecological problems or saving marine life or faith of 80 millions hindus.but he promptly supported nuclear deal after he came back from his visit to america. so judge what is his motive?

Dr. Abdul Kalam is a noble man. But he is not a politician. Nuclear fuel supply is good for india, we all know. But is that at the cost of our sovereign status or becoming a puppet country? We don't know what is there in the deal and it's implication. I don't think common people like you and me don't have so much of indepth knowledge and experience to decide on this. There are experts, and since this is such an important decision for the country, it's good for us if there is a all party consensus on this.

what wrong in becoming a puppet under a great country like US..
US is just one third in India, and we are scared that they may make us slaves and we will become puppets in their hands??? this is a typical indian's mentality.

Cheers to the Finance Minister for stating facts. Our misguided and fanatic Left comrades need to come back to their senses. Remember their earlier attack on Ramdev's Yoga, then their attack on Indo-US joint military exercises, and now the nuclear deal. Their attitude is going from bad to very bad. They seem to know more than even our former scientist, President, Abdul Kalam, who has rightly endorsed the deal. Other countries are enviuos of the clauses that have been offered to India, but the comrades are aghast.
But they should not forget that such open crticism is possible only in India. Let them take a closer look at Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, and even China, and compare the facilities they enjoy here.. wake up, LEFT.

The Left's only job is to oppose any development/progress in India so that we remain inferior to China. We should allow them to bark alone, disregard them and carry on the good work.

These people are recruited by China to prevent India's development. Three cheers to the FM for telling this fact to the people of India.
Rahul Gandhi is being supported by tolerence and greed of educated people like Manmohan Singh, Chidambaram, Bhardwaj and Sibbals. They are holding constitutional posts. But for personal gains they dont mind degrading the constitutional posts and constitution and keep on flattering people like Rahul and Sonia. We too shall be culprits like manmohan singhs if we keep tolerating.
Nuclear Deal is pro-country. I understand Left Party's concern as this deal will establish India as a credible deterrant against their Masters at China, but how come Mr. Advani and party going against the deal? When will the Indian parties mature and understand what is in the interest of the country?

its not that BJP is against the deal, totally. They are not aggreeing to the deal in its present format, which prohibits india to conduct any further nuclear test after signing the deal. Infact its the BJP who first proposed the deal when they were in power.

In fact, if BJP were in power, they would have passed the deal too. I guess they just don't want to give the credit to the UPA government for finishing the task - so they're just opposing for name-sake.

I also do not think that BJP would not have gone ahead with the deal. The issue is the Govt has not taken its poeple (parliament ) into confidence while going ahead with it. There are parts of the deal which have not been shared. Both our current Govt and US are in tearing hurry to close the deal which is making the people suspicious. Also the claims that Govt is making to push the deal are frivilous , cheaper options like hydro exist but Govt does not wants to tap it.
RE:Good response Mr. Chidambaram

Define "Govt has not taken its poeple (parliament ) into confidence...!" What people and what representative...? HUH?
Have u guys ever thought We (General Public) are made to dance by 543 Clowns who are approved/endorsed by just 15-20% of the whole population of the country?
Amazed?
Lemme Enlighten U...!
Lets say there are 4-5 parties at an average in a particular constituency OK? Lets take the whole population in that constituency as 100% out of which polling rate is just 70 % which means 30 % dont vote, say Party-A Gets 13% votes, Party-B gets 18%, Party-C gets 11%, Party-D gets 13% & Party-E gets 15% from the total 100% votes... So by virtue Party-B wins in that constituency.
How would u call it as a democracy when just a mere 18% of people from a constituency endorses a person/party, since 30% didn't vote, rest all 52% voted against this party and still this party goes on to rule with such authority till the next term...?
Don't u think we all are taken for a ride here? Rewrite the constitution & India can be free for real...! Else we all are doomed...!

mr rajesh have you come out to this world in the past few days. if you dont know then let me tell you that its the petrol and diesel which drives the transport and machines. ans its the wehicles which is used in building the supply chain, and its the machines which helps in growing the food grains and making edible oil. the price rise of one directly affects the another.

That's a global phenomenon. Show me one decent country which is not suffering from inflation. After having money flowing in peoples hands, with the supply of things being the same, inflation is bound to happen. Talk about the nuke deal. How else are we supposed to get the power we need? If the BJP was in power, it would have signed the deal. And it is true that the comunists are in the pay roll of China (after the fall of Russia)

YES BJP would have signed the deal with provision in our law to enable india can use nuclear for war in the event of chinese or pak attack.now with hyde laws, our nuclear option to use other than civil purpose are put in cold storage by MMS govt.that means congress made india surrender to americans.through this 123 agreement with provisions of hyde acts, americans put backdoor stoppage of atomic power usage option of india other than civil.why americans came backdoor becouse still india refused to sign NPT in line with pakisthan and reserve their option to use nuclear testing. hence this nuclear deal is backdoor entry to stop india for nuclear testing which bjp do not like and wants to renegotiate but MMS wants pat on backside from bush before he quit presidency post during early 2009.so MMS is in hurry and so BUSH is in hurry also.
