The Elections are Nearby - May be in 2-4 months
by SunInfo Solutions on Jul 22, 2008 01:06 PM  Permalink

Though the UPA / Congress may win the Trust Vote; It will be difficult to manage the rest of the lot.

The Left was atleast united and is better than the other lot. It will be difficult to cope up with the BIG MOUTH Amar Singh & Co. Apart from managing the rest of the small flock.

Unless the UPA wins by additional 10-12 votes viz 280-285; it will always be at risk of being a minority govt.

The Trust vote has actually unified the opposition which stands firm vis a vis a few candidates.

I would not be surprised if the Left will tie up with the NDA next election.

New structure of LS - from bad to worse
by Vishy on Jul 22, 2008 01:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

While we wait for the outcome of trust vote, lets also see what is in store for us.

The LOK SABHA constituencies are being restructured. THE BASIS - Population of the region.

What does this mean for us -

1. This simply means - if some region has grown in population , it deserves (and will receive) more representation in LS

2. Sounds good as a concept but we all know its a number game at lok sabha - one such game is on today in delhi, and like earlier games UP holds the trump card.

3. UP and bihar (original complete states) send 85 and 54 MPs resp. to Lok sabha

4. gone are the days when UP sent people like Nehru, Vijayalxmi pandit, lal bahadurji to lok sabha. Today people like mulayam, mayawati and goons sitting in jails hold the cards. This is JUST because they have numbers.

5. restructuring based on population would mean more MPs from these states because these states have performed miserably to control population

6. States like kerala and some north eastern states will be the biggest losers - their crime - they worked hard to control the poulation growth. - result - LESS NUMBERS IN LS - less say in central politics

UP and Bihar are at the bottom of all the growth indicaters - economic or social.

industris, employment, social grounds like infant mortality, girl child death, rapes, crimes agnst women - they are at the bottom in each list.

Their current state shows the performance of the governance (read politicians - and NOT POOR PEOPLE) an

IT WAS NARASIMHA RAO WHO AS A CAPABLE LEADER TOOK BOLD DECISIONS FOR THE LIBERALISATION OF INDIAN ECONOMY IN 1991 AND NOT MANMOHAN SINGH. HE ONLY FOLLOWED HIS MASTERS VOICE AS HE ALWAYS DOES.
IF MMS IS A GREAT ECONOMIST/(ASSUMING PRIME MINISTER), WHAT PREVENTED HIM FROM STOPPING THE ONLINE TRADING IN CONSUMABLE COMMODITIES LIKE PULSES, WHEAT, RICE ETC WHICH HAS LED TO INCREASE IN PRICES OF EDIBLE ITEMS. (LETS US FORGET ABOUT THE OIL PRICES, WHICH MAY BE OUT OF HIS CONTROL).
AS AN ABLE PM WHY CANNOT HE DIRECT HIS SUPER BRILLIANT FINANCE MINISTER P.CHIDAMBARAM TO STOP ONLINE TRADING?
AFTERALL, P.V.NARASIMHA RAO ALSO SURVIVED FOR FOUR YEARS IN THAT TURBULENT PERIOD WITH A MINORITY GOVERNMENT.

You are living in a world of your own.
MMS is widely regarded as architect of liberalization. Probaly you did not know what was happening then but MMS had to volunteer to resign several times due to strong opposition to his new age thinking. Then also, the opposition was exactly similar and same vague points were touted. No doubt, Narasimha Rao contributuion can not be forgoten as he supported MMS through it all and brought him as finance minister but to say PVNR did liberalisation is hallucinating.

Check your facts. MMS was finance minister during PVNR government and the chief implementor. It is the role of finance minister to implement financial policies which is what he did.
If PVNR could do all the financial stuff on his own, he wouldn't need to bring in MMS, correct?

do we really need this nuclear deal
by shijin shi on Jul 22, 2008 01:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I cannot understand the patriotism and loyalty the prime minister is having in going for the nuclear deal. Do we really need nuclear energy which cost much higher than the regular source of energy? Moreover we bow to Americans and admit that we are not capable of doing anything or finding any alternative source of energy with the available resources (like thorium) on a long term vision. Rather than focusing on the outside resources the leaders should have a vision of a sustainable growth which can be very easily done through agriculture using improved methods, and better soil management. In addition country should emphasis on the research and development. Better infrastructures should be provided for that so that we can avoid brain drain. The vision of development in my opinion which these leaders have is that when more and more foreign investment comes we will have better opportunities and living standards. However what in actual is happening is that we are giving all our resources and they sell them back to us and we like idiots feed them with our resources and intellectual capital

RE:do we really need this nuclear deal
by Sandeep on Jul 22, 2008 01:18 PM  Permalink
Nuclear energy is only costlier than coal of all the non-renewable resources. coal which you probably know has very big environmental costs and is dirtiest source(if you have heard about global warming).
Renewable resources have their limits which is why no country has been able to harness them to make them major contributors yet but work is on.
1. Solar - too expensive - 5 times Nuclear.
2. Wind - Limited scope but currently doing better than Solar.
3. Hydel - Big but limited by rivers and no major possibilities in near future.

Thorium is a research project and has been ongoing in India for more than 30 years but we are working in isolation and other countries working together by sharing technology so we are behind.
Unfortunately, energy can not be wished into appearing and among all that is available, N Power has most potential which India has not been able to utilize. Which is why Kalam/MMS think India would do better with Nuclear Energy.

Yes, sijin shi
It will be like textile industry flourished in Manchester and Liverpool with Indian cotton and finished products were sold in Indian markets. Our thorium will be imported by foreign countries and in return we shall import the finished products to boost their economy. History repeats. Foreign-rule(political) to freedom and back to square one foreign-rule (financial). Gandhiji will hesitate to take birth again for the fear of being assassinated.

SUPER DUPER MANAMOHAN.
by nishu kutty on Jul 22, 2008 01:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Manmohan singh for the past four years was licking Left's foot and dancing to their every tunes.
After,
1.Failing to control the prices,(Super economist with n number of degrees),
2.Dancing to the tunes of regional parties,
3. Failing to take action against corrupt ministers in his own government.(Man of great Integrity.
4. Flouting all democratic norms for the dissolution of elected state governments. (Waking Abdul kalam at midnight from his toilet to sign the dismissal of the Jharkhand government)
5.Failing to control terrorism (Which is the biggest issue)in this contry for the past four years,
6. Appeasing the muslim community (For providing more resources to them)(Great Secularist)(Man mohan Singh is the most dangerous/opportunist)
suddenly Japan Mohan Singh has become brave while he was in Japan.
It is to be noted that he was just a puppet in the past 4 years, but with only less than 10 months to go for next elections, he is behaving as he is the bravest of all to hide all his failures.

Since our super MMS gained bravery in Japan, he is renamed as Japan Mohan Singh.
It would have been good for this country had he visited Japan some 4 years back and stayed there itself.
-By Super Japan MMS fan club.
