Opposition does not mean you have to oppose everything.
by pratap singh on Jul 23, 2008 06:04 AM  Permalink

I have been a BJPian all my life. However, how it went yesterday has really shown that now BJP is nothing but power hungry people who cant even wait for 10 more months to gain power. This was a golden opportunity for them to make a sacrifice (similar to how Mrs Gandhi got sympathy of entire nation after she disowned the PM position), and get a clear mandate and sympathy in next election. However, they just keep opposing everything. Oppostion doesnt mean that you have to oppose every single thing. Even if you want to oppose, there are ways and protocols. You have to be convincing, sober and mature. How they came up with bundles of notes in parliament was utterly childish. Its worse than how children disrupt the classroom proceedings. They also are not doodh ka dhula and know that horse-trading takes place and they do it themselves. People know it and they are not going to get any sympathy out of it. Shame on you Advani now and I regret being a BJPian so far. I have more respect for MMS and congress. At least they know how to behave in parliament.

Three dead bodies of Indian politicians turn up at the mortuary, all with very big smiles on their faces. The medical examiner calls the police to show them what has happened. A Detective Inspector is sent and is taken to the first body.
"He was a BJP leader, 65 years of age, died of heart failure whilst making love to his mistress. Hence the enormous smile, Inspector," says the medical examiner.
The Detective Inspector is taken to the second dead man.
"He was a minister from ruling Congress party, was 70, made a pile from government funds, and spent it all on whiskey. Died of alcohol poisoning, hence the smile."
"Nothing unusual here", thinks the Inspector, and asks to be shown the last body.
"Ah," says the medical examiner. "This is the most unusual one. MP from Bihar, 60, struck by lightning."
"Why is he smiling then?` inquires the Inspector.
To which the medical officer replies, "He thought he was having his picture taken."

Kalam (our hero) said something good ... doesn't make the deal great
by SKS on Jul 23, 2008 06:00 AM  Permalink

There lies the problem. if someone people think a hero (even Shahrukh Khan) says something, everyone starts believing him without even thinking anything about it. I agree Kalam has good knowledge on some of the things, but he's not a nuclear scientist. Most of the indian scientist (they of course know much more about nuclear technology than Kalam) world over have serious doubts about the viability of this deal. Until unless those concerns are addressed, the deal will create more problems than it will solve.

How much power will be generated through nuclear technology? How much will it cost? Who will provide the technology? What about the environmental effect, how the nuclear waste is going to be handled? What if the US decides to stop supplying raw materials and technology? etc. I think Govt. should have taken the scientists opinions on these issues before even thinking about the deal. There is no point in getting some unsubstantiated data from unknown source to answer these questions. We just need scientists to debate extensively on this. In stead, the Govt. has used unscrupulous means to stay on the power and push the deal. I can say for sure, it is a black day for democracy.

An Indian politician went to the US to visit his counterpart. When the senator invited him home for dinner, the minister was very impressed by the lavish mansion, grounds and the costly furnishings.
He asked, "How can you afford all this on a meagre senator's salary?"
The sentaor smiled knowingly and took him to the window.
"Can you see the river?"
"Yes"
"Can you see the bridge over it?"
"Of course", said the minister.
"10 percent", said the senator smugly.
Some time later, he had occasion to pay a return visit. The Indian minister lavished all hospitality on him. When they came to his house, the American was stunned by the huge palace the minister had built, glittering with precious art, hundreds of servants etc etc.
"How can you possibly afford this, on a salary in Indian Rupees," he asked.
The minister called him to the window.
"See the river over there?"
"Sure", cried the senator.
"Can you see the bridge over it?"
The senator looked, was confused, peered closely and said, "No, I don't see any bridge."
"100 percent", said the minister !!

RE:Congrates MMS and corruption gang
by hameet bhullar on Jul 23, 2008 05:54 AM  Permalink
Don't you have brain. Do you feel a person like MMS, Sonia, Rahul or Lalu can do such a thing. It was all game plan of BJP. Do you think if Indian MPs are so honest that if they are offered 1 crore, they will disclose it to anyone. Even if it is done it could have been done by people like Amar Singh or some small MPs without the knowledge of party high command.

Showing Money
by hameet bhullar on Jul 23, 2008 05:47 AM  Permalink

Showing money was just a game plan from BJP / Advani. I know what a mental person like Advani can do. I really respect Mr Vajpayee but Advani is a kalank for India. I respect Manmohan Singh also. I like Sonia and Rahul Gandhi and also know that both of them really care for India. I really admire Mr Lalu Prasad Yadav. He always speaks truth though it is painful for some.
We Indians should support people not parties. There could be number of MPs who are criminals in all parties. How can they think good of India

Projecting Mayawati as next PM led to Cross Voting
by outspoken on Jul 23, 2008 05:44 AM  Permalink

Projecting Mayawati as PM in waiting by Left and Naidu did damage the Trust motion. Changing India is yet to digest the precription of accepting the ilk of Mayawati and her ilk to lead India and its billion citizens. The cross voting from opposition is a relection of the people's sentiments. Statue making, money collection and witch hunt of rivals is certainly not the agenda of all Indians; for the marginalised Left everytime they need someone to have a freeride. VP Singh gave them; Sonia also obliged and Mayawati is too ready for a ride provided she is kept on the top.
