Dear Fellow Indian Citizens... its good to read that Govt has won majority. Now the bad part, since they had to purchase those "additional MPs" for crores of rupees (25 crore as said in media, cmon do you believe that number), so since Congress had to spend that money from its assests they will debit the bill to Suffering Indian tax payers; this way not only will they recover all their lost money on uneducated MPs but also make way more money.

So now the speaker and govt should order CBI investigation and they should inform the nation who bribed whom...Mr.Advani has claimed that the whole incident has been recorded and in support of his claims CNN-IBN has given all the tapes to the speaker...So now it is the duty of the govt to proceed further with the investigation. If they dont investigate this incident then as a citizen we have every right to claim that tape from govt using our RTI (Right to information) Act and we should relay it in TV and all the places....Then we will know whether this UPA govt victory is real one or money powered victory....

After this sham victory (clearly purchased given the cross voting) the UPA govt will now stew in its own juice -- beholden both to the Americans, the corporate magnets who bankrolled the confidence vote, as well as their new found allies who will now want their pound of flesh very quickly. If at all it survives the whole term, which is very doubtful, it will face an angry electorate very soon who will then have their say. The opposition need not be concerned too much with UPA's fate -- its demise is all but certain. But some thought must be given to investigating legal avenues available to effectively repudiate this dubious deal once the UPA is voted out of office within a year. All the parties across the Opposition spectrum from the NDA to the Left must agree on such a course of action.

Prakash Karat and his party did their utmost to protect the interest of the country *as they see it*. They did not horse trade and their MP's did not cross-vote (the actions of the speaker notwithstanding). If all political parties emulated the Left, democratic institutions of the country would be strengthened.
Its fine to disagree with the political agenda of the Left -- which is after all driven by the interests of the class of people not represented in the Rediff readership -- but personal attacks on upright political leaders like Karat (or for that matter Advani or Manmohan Singh) shows that you have no respect for the democratic process.
I am glad that the UPA won the trust vote for they are trying to do the right thing for the country. And very glad that WE are LEFT FREE!! Now we can take steps towards the better...

Don't forget that our economy is growing today due to the upstart given by Mr Singh as the FM under the Narasimha Rao govt. With all your population we can barely maintain our nuclear reactors let alone build news for power-generation. The technology for these and building them is not going to come from within. Why crib so much when we know that none of the mobile phones or PCs used are Indian in making. Remember Bhabha said - No power is costlier that no power.
