very similar to what happened in late 1980s as bjp gradually replaced janata dal as a natinal party. BSP seems to be in the same track replacing bjp and becoming a national party with improved presence in all states. See friends, after 5-10 years bsp will be the major party in india n mayawati as the leader of the nation.
