Kanchi seer
by Ramasubramanian Appadurai on Apr 10, 2009 04:48 PM  Permalink

One must not confuse the issues. Here is a "sannyasi" who hobnobbed with politicians on the pretext of settling Ram janma bhoomi dispute. There are three criminal cases running in the courts against him. One for murder and the other two for murder attempts. The prosecution says that he and his disciple Vijayendra are prime accused. It is stated that the victim was a past devotee of the mutt who fell foul with the prime accused. It is a unique case where both the AIDMK and DMK chiefs were in agreement on the arrest of the "seers". If they have been totally innocent, it is simply not possible to make such a formidable amount of evidence, witnesses and paperwork. That too the police would not try to foist a bogus case with so many witnesses. It is reported that the victims in all the three criminal cases are brahmins.

what is ur wish? if he gets out u will say he manipulated the system, if he gets punished u will say it is good for him... we people are too backward to see the truth. i think injustice is being meted out to these holy hindu people... the islamists, communists and the christians don't care... we hindus do! we pray to God Almighty that He reward aptly good for good and evil for evil and get the Sankaracharya out of this predicament. The Mutt has been there for 2000 years and it is a very charitable organisation (Shankara Netralaya/Sankara Schools etc.). It is a bastion of Hinduism in the south of India which has been finally attacked by unGodly and irreligious forces. God save the country!

that's really funny... No Siva temple in TN follow the caste system except the Kanchi Mutt...

Kanchi Mutt is just political branch of Sivities (there is no term called Hindus) just like the political caste system introducted by Vaishnavities...

The popularity of a person could be found out when he face a disaster.
Nobody cared when Jayendra was arrested. In Kanchi mutt, they rub your back to findout if you wear a cross-thread or not. depending on it, u would be either favoured or despised.

And you are right. It is not a temple. Temple is the one that doesn't involve in politics and divisions

You are exhibiting typical knee-jerk reaction. The Swamiji's "alleged' actions are yet to be proven. One is not guilty until proven. These murder charges are trumped up by the incompetrent Indian police who run the other way rather than facing harm. In addition Tamil Nadu is over-run with Xtains who are trying their best to deface Hindu leaders.
I doubt if the truth will ever e found. Meanwhile, people like you are the reason why Hinduism is given the title 'fundamentalistic cult' rather than Islam and cadaver worshiping cult.

This is bound to happen. The revered Swamiji will walk out clean. Let us wait for the best.

All the perpetrators who troubled him will go to hell.

FORGOTTEN EPISODE
by krishna on Jul 22, 2008 12:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In the din of Parliament Tamasha no one bothers about this issue.I am sure if Jaya is the CM of Tamil nadu this issue would have been kept alive.Atleast in this issue Karuna the present CM is gentle enough to keep distance. Now DK&other worthless organisations may rack up the issue&sully the Judiciary.I am sure the output in this case will be a Big Zero since lawers are capable of dragging this without end.Whatever said and done Kanchi Madom has lost the credibility among the people.

Though the genuinity of this case is not known to me, religious heads pondering into public life is unwarranted that too involving in money and land matters. The particular case is foistered by Jaya when the Mutt did not part way with a land title and also some funds remitted to the mutt from a neighbouring country which was misutilised for other cause.
As the writer Krishna has pointed out, the prestige and respect that the Mutt commanded during the presence of Maha Periyaval has been sullied by the present pointiff unnecessary involvement in politics that too in Tamilnadu where the political heads have scant respect to hinduism.
