Nuclear fuel in India
by Hariharan on Jul 21, 2008 01:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India's uranium resources are modest, with 54,000 tonnes U as reasonably assured resources and 23,500 tonnes as estimated additional resources in situ.

Mining and processing of uranium is carried out by Uranium Corporation of India Ltd, a subsidiary of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), at Jaduguda and Bhatin (since 1967), Narwapahar (since 1995) and Turamdih (since 2002) - all in Jharkhand near Calcutta. All are underground, the last two being modern. A common mill is located near Jaduguda, and processes 2090 tonnes per day of ore.
India has reserves of 290,000 tonnes of thorium - about one quarter of the world total, and these are intended to fuel its nuclear power program longer-term

What do you all think?

Was it to make us a developed country that America is so sincere to sign the deal even with a minority government?

Poor fellows!

India needs a spine!
by Ahmad Nawaz on Jul 21, 2008 01:50 PM  Permalink

After Rajiv Gandhi's death all the leaders have been spineless servile idiots...slaves of "phirangis". Just look at the body language of our leaders at the UN or other international gatherings and you will feel like they owe their life to the western leaders. I am not saying the western leaders are bad but rater that our leaders behave like Chaprasis in their presence. It is so insulting especailly given the fact that so many Indians are educated professionals and instead have people working for them in the west. The whole South Asian region behaves the same way. So in spite of this economic boom what has India done internationally to flex its muscle? NOTHING! This mentality will not go away I tell you. India doesnt have to be in the security council to make itself heard. I have yet to hear a novel idea or a political stance that would make people say we better listen given India's new found status at the world stage. How come I never hear India telling others how to solve energy issues. Or how come India doesnt speak out when Indians abroad are victims of racism or discrmination? They say that you are recognized by the status of your enemy. And believe me Pakistan doesnt have any at the world stage. So India needs to stop obsessing about Pakistan etc and start frying bigger fish!

India is dieing
by fun guy on Jul 21, 2008 01:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Indian agriculture largest employment provider is dieing.

Indian textile industry, which is second largest employment provider, is dieing with out proper technology and infrastructure.

Other core industries are dieing due to lack of technical manpower due to migration to IT industry.

even IT industry is dieing because of lack of competent skilled manpower to create product. Now they are doing low level works.

Poor are dieing due to high inflation

So india is dieing but foolish economist like MMS want only nuke deal for future.

What a great people

Are you working for "Bombay Dieing"?. When there is no power what is the point in talking about manpower. Today's powerful people are the present MPs who have an opportunity to sell them at 25 or 50 or more crores.

Future of the world is Technology power. Poverty can’t be eradicated without technology. India can provide safe drinking water to its polulation with out technology; good heath care is not possible with out technology power. Agriculture can't be strengthened with out technology. First green revolution was purely pouring fertilizers.
goverment should have good technology policy in implementation. each and every R&D should be accountable. no of patents filed in india and it social impact should be clearly evaluation.
Defunct sarkari scientist should be kicked.

Absolutely correct!! Presidential form is better suited for this country.... democracy is not giving us any good results...every party here is intrested in forming its govt irrespective of the country's goodwill. No body here is intrested in doing something good for the country, everybody here is intrested in flodding there bank accounts with money...... I strictly feel that its time for a revolution!!!
