Commies too, now.
by Shyam on Jul 22, 2008 09:57 AM  Permalink

So now Commies to believe in Muhurat. What is so special about August 12, three days prior to the Independence Day? Anyway, if the government wins trust vote, he will be expelled from party and may have to lose MP seat too. And if the UPA loses trust vote the house will be dissolved in which case he will automatically cease to be in position. As he said he has big body with everything else small and no brains!

Speaker Somnath
by Rupam Nath on Jul 22, 2008 09:56 AM  Permalink

As soon as an MP is made the speaker, he immediately then is above all party politics and needs to conduct the sessions with wholehearted impartiality.
Nowadays, when guts and honesty are rare, then its really nice to observe somebody like Mr. Chatterjee who is not even bothering about later consequences.
He is one of those rare individuals who still keep people's faith in democracy alive.

Advani Exposed a Typical Trait of all Knickerwallah
by All Right on Jul 22, 2008 09:46 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Knickerwallahs are known for their love of Goebbelian communications techniques. Advani in his speech against the motion accused Nehru wanting to sign the NPT. Pranab Murkherjee literally caught him with his pants down. He retorted that how Nehru who died in 1962 could sign a NPT which came into force only in the 70s?

Apart from this, Advani's speech was a damn squib.

With due respect to Mr. Advani, He should retire from the politics now. These kind of things are very much expected from a person of 80 .

He is desperate to become PM so such knid of slippages.LK became nervous after Mayawati was Projected as he wanted to equal AB which he can dream only. His book is full of lies claiming he was not knowing about release of militants.George told he was present in all cabinet committee of security meet which took decision . He is smooth liar which has filed false affidavit claiming innocence in ramjanambhoomi case.He should have guts to own the demolishion with pride but he wants PM post not Mandir, just like Pandas of Kashi and haridwar cheating innocent Hindus.

BJP does not have a good leader ship team other than AB Vajpey. Advani still does not know Indian history and his age does not allow him to remember Indias history. He does not have credibility in his cap in the last 30 years of life. Advani is credited with turning the BJP into a significant force in Indian politics by undertaking the Ratha Yatra (Chariot tour) to mobilize support. He only knows how to destablilize our India to the hands of communal forces like VHP and Bajarang Dal. Advani fears MAYA VATHI's emergence as future PM if the government falls in the trust vote and he also fears Narendra MODI who is playing his cards well there in Gujarat and in BJP. Advani's dream of becoming India's PM is shattering.

NDA falling apart
by All Right on Jul 22, 2008 09:45 AM  Permalink

With the rise of the UNPA, LK Advanis;s Prime Ministerial bid has nose dived. BJP can by themselves hope to regain the Center without allies. The needed allies in Andhra Pradesh, UP, NE, West Bengal, Assam etc. All those parties which BJP were eyeing like TRS, TDP, TC, BSP, NC have joined the 3rd Front.

As a result a trickle of defections from BJP-NDA is nowing threatening to turn to a flood.

However, a UPA win will burst the UNPA bubble as the reward for all Mayawati's poaching of MPs will be that she will be tried for corruption. Once UNPA disintegrates, these parties will flock back to either the NDA or UPA.

The Speaker and a Party MP
by S R Ganguli on Jul 22, 2008 09:44 AM  Permalink

Indian Constituion is a CHIMERA. Pakistan always alleges Indian duplicity. I think our duplicity flows from our belief in the constitution. I enumerate the examples: The PM wont be able to cast his vote on the motion. What a funny situation. Becoz he does not belong to Lok Sabha. The provision says any person can become a PM for six months without being a memeber of either of the Houses of Parliament. Therefore a foreigner cam become our PM for at least six months. Of course we can instal Bush after his term in the White House. A CM can remain an MP for six months. Otherwise he can be both a CM and an MP. Gomang just did that and voted out the Bajpayee Govt and put a huge burden on the nation. Of course criminals and jailbirds can decide for us at the helm of affairs of our country. The Constituion wanted reservation for 10 years only. Now it is a permanenet feature. Secular Talibans criticise Hinduism becoz it recognises caste system. Now the same very secular politicians embrace and depend on castist politics for their survival. A chosen Governor can sack an elected CM but the Prez who is elected to his post cannot sack a PM though the latter may not be elected for six months or not be a memeber of the Lok Sabha which is constituted of elected members. Hence our chimerical consitution has outlived our society and must be scrapped.

Think before you cast your vote next time and cast it based on merits of the candidate. No party lines, religion, caste, ethnic etc... Avoid the Cucumber and Kachumber Parties.

CPM & SPEAKER
by mohan r on Jul 22, 2008 09:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr Somnath's adamant stand to stick to the Chair only shows that in spite of long long standing as the Best Parlimentarian so far, his hunger for power is just like anyother normal person/MP. He should have not hesitated to resign immediately after the party had withdrawn its support to UPA. As the number game and money power goes, who knows what deal in this too struck between him and PRANAB JI

His integrity to be praised. He is a trustworthy person to the country. It is not at all an ideal time to quit as the "Indian Political House is on FIRE". Do anyone appreciate if a house owner / tenant leaves their "HOUSE" during a fire without extinguishing it ? The situation is similar and the speaker should only quit if he wishes after the political fire is extinguished. What would have been the situation and political mess if he resigned on 21st ?
Dear Speaker Somnath " We treat you at high esteem " Thanks.

AS U SAID , SPEAKER IN HIS CHAIR KNOW THAT THERE IS NUMBER GAME AND MONEY POWER
PLAY A GREAT ROLL IN A TRUST VOTE.
HE BEING A TRUE INDIAN POLITICIAN,HE KNOW THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CHAIR OF THE SPEAKER
AND SO HE HAS NOT DRAWN HIMSELF AS A SIMPLE POLITICIAN. LEFT PARTY ONLY SEE HIM AS AN MP
AND NOT AS A SPEAKER OF INDIAN LOKSABHA. THAT IS CPM SHORTFALL

Somnath is right
by akhilesh dixit on Jul 22, 2008 09:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Somnath did right and infact this is view of West Bengal CPM too because they are connected with masses, people sitting in Delhi office without any connection with ground can not dictate term to Somnath who is in Parliament for 40 years. In any case he may cast his vote against UPA in case of tie, .atleast he is conducting house in disciplined way.He has not cast his vote for UPA so whats problem? May be Karat ego hurt again. When party whips are already issued to vote on party line this debate is meaningless. These debates are useful only when people are free to vote based on points raised in debate unfortunately the right of expression pf MPs are not with them due to Whip and anti defection law. Advani is mostly wrong these days and corrected by Pranab or George in case of his claim of not knowing about release of Kandhar episode. He has selective forgetfulness. The Govt will be survived and mainly due to MPs of BJP a party with discipline, Chaal charitra and Chintan. One BJP already in RML claiming breathing trouble by evening 10 more BJP MPs to be in real ICU to abstain.

Somnath should have disqualified the leftists from loksabha membership, for their assault on the constitutional post of speaker, punishing them for their irresponsible arrogance in politics. It would have saved the country the unnecessary trust-vote episode, making india's politics look funny in international circles.
