talk in numbers not percentahe ( N deal oppsers)
by pruodNorth on Jul 21, 2008 03:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

N power at moment produce 4000 MW With deal it will be 40,000 MW

Each MW requires 7 croroe or investment.

To create 30000 MW we need 7 * 30000 = 2,10,000 crore. From where money will come for such heavy investment?

From foreign investement if deal pass throu. Then only with energy. Money to pay back will be given over a period of time

Another 6 000 MW require no investment as existing N station will now starts running at full capacity as they were short of N fuel till now.

To all who oppose N Deal, Do you have alternative. Also when people talk about 6% or 7 %, They are talking hypothetical about projected India energy production of 2020 at 3,40,000 . From where we will produce that energy without investement? Talk in actual numbers Not in percentage

Isn't she something ... I mean the congress think tank is known to unite and keep BJP out.

I doubt that unless BJP gets over 200 seats in the next LS elections, they can form a govt. In an eventuality all parties will come together to keep BJP out.

But BJP is so used to sitting in opposition that it would be just business as usual for them. LOL

some more fact for u Mr Loan

American Electric Power Co. isn't planning to build any new nuclear power plants because delays will push operational starts to 2020, CEO Michael Morris said Tuesday.

The first permit to build and operate a new U.S. reactor would be delayed by a court challenge that will probably reach the Supreme Court, Morris told reporters in Washington, D.C. Builders would also have to queue for certain parts and face "realistic" costs of about $4,000 a kilowatt, he said.

Power producers proposing to build reactors have suggested they could be operating by 2015 or 2016. About 20 percent of U.S. electricity is generated by nuclear power today.

Proposals to build as many as 28 new reactors have come after Congress in 2005 offered billions in loan guarantees and tax credits to those building new nuclear power plants. Reactors produce no greenhouse emissions, which contribute to global warming.

"I'm not convinced we'll see a new nuclear station before probably the 2020 timeline," Morris said.

Instead of nuclear plants, Columbus, Ohio-based AEP is proposing to build advanced coal-fired generation that would be able to capture carbon dioxide emissions. Morris said the company's proposed coal-gasification plants will cost about $3,500 a kilowatt to build.

2020 ... so what';s your problem with that?

do you not plan to live thru 2020? is the world gonna be finished by 2020? or will our energy problems be solved by 2020?

nothing wrong with planning something even if we know that it is some 12 years away.

if everyone was as pessimistic as you are, man would have never reached space or moon.

Congress normally wants to get money out of any deal(Bofors) and this is one among them.
I do support this as I feel, congress can't do anything more and we have to be ok with this.

US does not need nuclear plant because coal is abundant and cheap in the US. But with cost of fossil fuels rising, even US is considering nuclear energy. It is on McCain's agenda. You can find it in campiagn ads on you tube.
