Energy and food in future
by VB on Jul 21, 2008 03:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In future the whole of world will hover around Energy as well as Food for progress. PM has taken visionery steps for the country by promoting both i.e. energy and agriculture. This will change this country and keep us with the changing times. All countries are facing energy as well as food crises. These are going to take India much ahead of others. We are sure that great God is with such a person.

VB,
let us evaluate the deal on its merits and you will realize that the deal in the current form is not at all good for us.
- After all the hoopla, nuclear energy will only constitute about 6-7% of indias generation that too in 2020 and later. We are already at 2.5%
- India's indegionous thorium breeder is likely to be on by 2010 and another couple of years by when we could probably commercialize eenrgy production. Worst case it will get done by 2017/18.
- U.S. itself has not set up any nuclear plant in the last 35 years. Its focus is solar, wind, etc. India is among the best regions in the world to harness solar and wind kind of sources and by 2020 it certainly will be commercially viable.
- India's electricity generation does not depend on the $140 oil you are quoting, our electricity is coal based. We only import oil for petroleum products.
- We are putting our civil nuclear reactors on safeguards in perpetuity, while china can anytime withdraw and submit.
- You point about other countries agreeing to supply when U.S. puts sanctions is very risky. Diplomatic pressure will ensure that the situation is very uncertain and we may be without supplies for years while our tax money spent on acquiring plant and technology rot.
I am not a BJP or congress supporter but in the current form the deal is not beneficial. We need to further debate, build consensus & change clauses to protect our Interests

By 2030, a moderate increase of nuclear energy's share would mean about 25% which means about 100000 MW from nuclear stations. which other form of energy can give so much?

MAMTA joined Congress. About 10 lakh jobs directly and indirectly will be available in Singur Tata Car Factory. Congress gave her full support to kill 150 people inlcuding 27 CPI(M) cadres in Singur and Nandigram.

This is an agreement and not a deal which linked with the agricultural propects. Let us see France produces almost 90% energy from nuclear why can't we.

also the cost of producing nuclear energy is too much and I am 100% sure not affordable to us. I remember our electricity bill was more than 90 GBP for a studio aptmt in a suburb in UK and despite of we being absent in the day. It is almost double in London. Can you imagine the impact of this on Indian public.
This people are just raving mad. Nuclear Energy is not for any third world country. The Europeans and Americans have already benefited from this when Uranium price was less. Now there is a big fight for Uranium and our nuclear reactors will run dry. We are heading for plain disaster.

Congress will go in election with Nuclear Deal as issue. I wish BJP should support Congress on the floor of the house and then Congress will have nothing to say but answer rising prices.

I hate the commi and I support the PM. But more than the materialistic benefits of the deal it is the Democracy of the country that has been put to shambles. If UPA wins it is a mockery on democracy. Congress is surviving because of a few good people. The rest are power hungry blokes who have screwed the nation.

We should see merits and demerits of parties to chose one and review who stands where. We citizen stand upright for the country and not for any party, however, we have these choices given to us. We feel steps taken for agriculture and energy are the right ones.

An alternative to Nuclear energy is the wind energy. Use the fart power of these old donkeys and generate huge power. The oldies can generate an awsome effect. The commys also will be great help. All they do is to shit and fart, if they are not striking.

PM should do so after winning motion and go for elections. If PM was to encourage any wrong practices, he could have very taken many more MPs into folds by wrong tactices such as Ajit singh, Deve Gowda, BSP and many more but he is not a person like that as we all know. Atal Bihari and Manmohan are superb person.
