Do you see any Assamese or Himachal..

... pol in this power equation in a major way. It is a full UP/Bihar show.

Then we wonder why this or that part of the country feels aggrieved.

We really should have president directly elected who administrates.

Lok Sabha with proportional representation by population from each state directly elected by people. So UP has strongest voice.

Rajya Sabha with 2 representatives per state directly elected by people. So Tripura in Rajya Sabha has same voice as UP.

All bills have to clear both houses. Financial bill can only originate in Lok Sabha but have to pass Rajya Sabha.

Just like the US - or even ancient Rome, Caesar administrates, senate legislates.

20-20 match live in Parliament
Let us watch today and tomorrow MPs making a mockery of democracy led by Dr Manmohan Singh.

The UPA is guilty of degrading, devaluing and defiling democracy on another count. It has promoted sordid forms of horse-trading, defection and bribery to stitch together a fragile majority.

The UPA is guilty of degrading, devaluing and defiling democracy on another count. It has promoted sordid forms of horse-trading, defection and bribery to stitch together a fragile majority. It has made the political process hostage to the machinations of powerful corporate interests. The Opposition, especially the BSP, is also using money power.

Some 20-odd MPs belonging to tiny regional parties or factions, six of them convicts/undertrials, seem set to determine the fate of the UPA -- and the deal. This is a disgrace.

Under Hyde Act, India will have to help USA attack Iran

The prime minister also took the opportunity to defend the government's foreign policy record. The BJP and Left parties have been accusing the government of compromising India’s independent foreign policy by pushing ahead with the nuclear deal. The criticism has stemmed from the fact that the Hyde Act, the domestic law that governs the bilateral agreement between the two countries, very specifically asks India to help the US in containing Iran.

Get your facts straight. Hyde act is internal act for the US. It cant make demands on India for anything. No where in any part of the agreement has got anything for India to support US on attack of any country. Its people like you who has ignorance and spread stupidity.

Are you mad, illiterate or both??? I am sure you have not read the Hyde Act. A good recent example... Obama has promised to renogotiate the NAFTA (free trade between US/Canada/Mexico) if he comes into power... When the Canadians raised concerns with Obama's economic advisor, he bluntly replied these promises are made by politicians but never enacted... Hyde Act is a similar, its Internal to US... And, it is tool to quiten the anti-India specific legislators in US... Lastly, it is an agreement between 2 countries and has to be win-win to both... It cannot be a I-win-you-lose... so both countries will preserve their interests...

Who cares! Thats why I think you are ignorant. After the deal goes through NSG, India dont need even US to supply th fuel! Get your information staright.

A clear intrusion into India's foreign policy and nuclear pro programmes. Congress signed it (not) unknowingly. Is it the same congress which delivered freedom and independence to India? They wish this country to be ruled by another country!! I pity the present congress. Wait for a VIDURA be born in congress to guide them.

Nuclear Deal is not favourable to our country.
by Dhirendra Trivedi on Jul 21, 2008 12:48 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Do any one realize this , what the intellectuals say about nuclear deal,......

Terming the Indo-US nuclear deal as anti-people, noted social activists today asked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to scrap it with immediate effect.

"The Indo-US nuclear deal is patently anti-people and will make India a strategic ally of American Imperialism in South Asia to impose its hegemony over Asia," they said in an open letter to the Prime Minister.

The signing of the Henry Hyde Act in December 2006 is logical interference of the content of the Act legally making India a junior ally of the US Imperialism, "confiscating and trunacating our hard earned sovereignty", they added.

"We therefore demand that the Indo-US nuclear deal be scrapped with immediate effect and the ongoing talks between IAEA should be called off immediately," the letter said.

Terming the deal "an outrageous instrument of recolonisation of India and Third world", they said when the deal comes through, it will grievously undermine the current global regime of the nuclear non-proliferation in gross violation of underlying principles of nuclear peace, workers, environment and women's movement.

They also rejected the proposition that the deal will enhance India's energy security and said nuclear energy is "prohibitively costly and intrinsically hazardous" and will distort India's effort towards cheaper renewable energy sources.

They suggested Singh that since India stands very low on human developme

Great piece of information...this is what the government wanted to hide from the people and the Communists are opposed to....The Nuclear Deal will be a big blunder and the Congress willing to lose power at the cost of the Deal and their subservient attitude towards the US is raising more questions about the integrity of the Congress Leadership and our hopeless PM. He failed both in the economic and strategic fronts in leading the country. The UPA lost an ally (the Left parties with 59 MPs) which supported it despite its differences just for the sake of keeping Communal Forces away from power without insisting any ministerial berth or lucrative post and now parties with 2 or 3 MPs are demanding cabinet ministership...Shame on the Congress which has led the country to this situation where the Parliament has become a MP Bazaar.

Congress has done one good thing in 5 years and that is the nuclear deal. Even Abdul Kalam and nuclear scientists have said that the deal is good for the nation. History will never forgive India if we fail.
Communists are traitors and BJP has become just like Congress opposing the deal just because it was done by Congress!! BJP will further lose its nationalist votebank this time.

People who fear America are fools.India is a strong country, a nuclear power and more than that we are a democracy. We are natural allies of the West. It is upto India to choose. We are not so weak that any nation in the world can force us and we should have that courage and confidence. Russia with sham democracy, China with worse than Nazi--communism and Pakistan and middle east with dictatorships cannot and should not be our allies.

We should stand with the west and participate in the fight against Islamic radicalism and Chinese killing Tibetian culture.. equivalent to Hitler's design against Jews

Whether the government falls or not, its a good sign for India for a change. How many PM's had the guts to do something good for the nation not thinking about the government fall. This is the turning point of Indian politics. Kudos PM and Sonia. Whether you pass or fail in the Jul 22nd vote of confidence, you and your party has entered a lot of Indians heart and one amoung them is me. My support for you is always there and I feel ashamed to have voted for BJP in the last elections. For them, politics is important. Left parties could also be trusted, but BJP cannot be.

Benefits of nuclear deal
by M Srinivas on Jul 21, 2008 12:22 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If nuclear deal goes through, India's energy needs will be fully met, Nuclear energy is infinite energy though it more costly by 20% to 50% than coal or hydro electricity. More and more industries can be started, lot of employment can be generated for people and there will be overall improvement of life of people. There is possibility that India can become an economic superpower like Japan or USA. Regarding security, when India gradually become an economic superpower, more and more i.e. 10 times more conventional weapons, 10 times more missiles, 10 times more fighter planes and 10 times more nuclear weapons can be built. More navy ships and more submarines, more fighter planes can be built or purchased. India had already exploded nuclear weapons. When India gradually becomes a economic superpower, govt. will have more money, hundreds or thousands of missiles with nuclear and conventional warheads can be built. No country will raise a hand against India. Now it is necessary that, India's energy needs are to be met and India had to become an economic superpower. Massive build up of weapons (nuclear and conventional) can be taken up gradually in future. China or Pakistan will never dare to attack India, as India is a nuclear power and nuclear missiles can reach Bejing. If nuclear deal goes through, India likely to become an economic superpower as well as military superpower or mini military superpower in future. There will also be an option to buy gas from Iran in addition to nu

YOU R A BIG DREAMER...TRY TO UNDERSTAND THAT THE DEAL WHICH IS BEING PUSHED THROUGH BY THE GOVT EVEN ACCORDING TO THEM WILL SATISFY ONLY 4-5% OF OUR ENERGY NEEDS. THEN WHY PUT OUR SOVEREIGNITY AT STAKES FOR IT. SIMILAR DEALS ENTERED IN TO BY CHINA AND JAPAN IF VIOLATED WILL ATTRACT ONLY ARBITRATION BY INTERNATIONAL AGENCIES GOVERNED BY INTERNATIONAL LAWS. IN OUR CASE ITS THE AMERICAN LAW THAT WILL PREVAIL...IN SHORT OUR FOREIGN POLICIES WILL BE DIRECTED BY THE USA. THE LEFT PARTIES WERE RIGHT IN OPPOSING IT. KUDOS TO THEM AT LEAST THEY HAVE NOT WITHDRAWN SUPPORT FOR NOT GETTING ANY MINISTERIAL BERTH OR OTHER POSTS. THE ISSUE RAISED BY THEM OUGHT TO HAVE BEEN ANSWERED TO THE PEOPLE BY THE GOVT. EVERYTHING WAS DONE IN A VERY HASTY AND SECRET MANNER ONLY FOR OUR PM TO FULFILL HIS COMMITMENT TO THE US PRESIDENT. WHO CARES ABOUT THE COMMITMENT GIVEN TO THE PEOPLE. LET US FIRST ENSURE FOOD AND CLEAN DRINKING WATER FOR EVERY INDIAN AND THEN BECOME AND THEN TALK ABOUT BECOMING A MILITARY SUPER POWER....JUST GET INTO THE STREETS AND LOOK AT THE REALITY MAN...WE STILL HAVE MILLIONS STARVING FOR FOOD, CLOTH AND SHELTER AND A HUGE MIDDLE CLASS STRUGGLING TO MAKE BOTH ENDS MEET. WAS IT REALLY NECESSARY FOR THE CONGRESS TO GO FOR A TRUST VOTE FOR THE SAKE OF THE NUCLEAR DEAL WHEN THE MASSES OF THE COUNTRY ARE TOILING UNDER RISING INFLATION. I WOULD LOVE TO SEE A SUPER POWER INDIA WHERE EVERY INDIAN HAS HIS BASIC NEEDS FULFILLED NOT THE SUPER POWER WHICH CAN BOAST OF NUCLEAR POWER WHEN PEOP

Look at the scenario. Every one talk of politics and number game. They forget the basic issue. Here is the winner -the N-deal.

Let every MP be in the know of all the details of N-deal. Starting from the surrendering of India's sovereignty and independence. The hidden and undemocratic and unethical moves by the congress. Deceitful handling of the whole subject. They are answerable to the people during the next election.

All these kala-bulee is for the sake of just 10% max of total energy at a total cost of 3 lakh crores of rupees scheduled to be spent in 20 years crippling the financial system of India. The waste disposal and safety against radiation is the biggest problem -technically and financially. Twenty years from now Uranium will be a rare material!! The congress is in for any kind of 'back-door deal' to gain support from anybody in the parliament.

It is unpardonable to divide society vertically for the sake of a N-deal -'sign-off' of our sovereignty and freedom. All the good works done by congress will be made opaque by this single act. Let the present congress leaders emulate the old generations of congress leaders who lead freedom movement. At the moment I can only pray to God to give them good sense and allow them to think without prejudice and biases.

Why this 'undue haste'?

Let a VIDURA be born in congress to guide them.

Prestige of an individual is nothing when we talk of NATIONAL INTEREST.

Avoid number game.

If other issues are more important than N-deal, shouldn’t the opposition focus on them as well. Why is it that they have a voice only for the N deal. Is it because they can claim false patriotism just like in Pakistan every party has does by bringing the Kashmir issue. We need to be economically strong to maintain our sovereignty. Just look at the former USSR. They had the military powers to match US and its allies. But in the end economic misery made them beg from all nations.

Myth #11: India needs more nuclear power to assure its energy future.

Fact: Nuclear power has been virtually insignificant in India’s energy mix in the past, and will be no more important in the future. India has been generating electricity with nuclear reactors for more than 40 years. Yet, reactors supply only 2% to 3% of its electricity today. India has not built more reactors because they have not turned out to be as safe, or as clean, or – most important – as economical as originally thought. Even if India were to achieve a 50% increase in nuclear power generation (which is unlikely) such a step would only increase India’s overall electricity output by one percent at most, and would only increase India’s overall energy output by a fraction of one percent. That is not a significant increase in the energy available to India and would not decrease India’s demand for oil and gas.

BRAVERY AWARD, MOTHER TERESA (SACRIFICER ) AWARD- MANMOHAN SINGH
by nishu kutty on Jul 21, 2008 12:19 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Manmohan singh for the past four years was licking Left's foot and dancing to their every tunes.
But now after,
1.Failing to control the prices,(Super economist with n number of degrees),
2.Dancing to the tunes of regional parties,
3. Failing to take action against corrupt ministers in his own government.(Man of great Integrity.
4. Flouting all democratic norms for the dissolution of elected state governments. (Waking Abdul kalam at midnight from his toilet to sign the dismissal of the Jharkhand government)
5.Failing to control terrorism (Which is the biggest issue)in this contry for the past four years,
6. Appeasing the muslim community (For providing more resources to them)(Great Secularist)(Man mohan Singh is the most dangerous/opportunist)
suddenly Japan Mohan Singh has become brave while he was in Japan.
It is to be noted that he was just a puppet in the past 4 years, but with only less than 10 months to go for next elections, he is behaving as he is the bravest of all to hide all his failures.

Since our super MMS gained bravery in Japan, he is renamed as Japan Mohan Singh.
It would have been good for this country had he visited Japan some 4 years back and stayed there itself.

1.If the world's largest financial organisations suddenly decide to put billions of dollars in commodities, the world will be in mess. And there is nothing that the govt. can do to control prices as we are not an isolated economy. The prices of crude oil has risen by almost 100% in last year so you can imagine that the prices of just about everything that needs to be transported from the place of origin to the place of consumption will automatically rise.
Just as a matter of fact the diesel, kerosene and LPG (which are used by most of the people) prices are still heavily subsidised.

2.If people elect regional parties, honest people like Manmohan Singh has no choice but to dance to their tunes.

3.Again compulsions of coalition politics.

4.Jharkhand Mukti Morcha-One of the supporting parties.jarkhand is still not mukta(free).

5.Terrorism is thriving because there are countries surrounding us(Pakistan,Bangladesh,Myanmar all supported by China)that support them.We need to contain and we can do that only if we ourselves are military power.

6.Muslims are traditionally anti-US and economically less developed than other communities. There is no harm is govt. working for the benefit of weaker sections of society. The govt. has to allay their fears over the nuclear deal.
