Mayawati has completely changed the landscape of Indian Politics.
by Dinesh Thakur on Jul 21, 2008 12:00 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Make no mistake as most opposition parties are very angry with congress party which is targeting thier parties by buying thier MPs so they will support maya ji at all cost and we will be surprised by the final result.
Maywati has mobilised trmendous support now and if election held soon she will have landslide victory. Congress and SP have lost muslim support forever. Muslims decide more than 100 MP seats including 45 from UP alone and dalits and other weaker class more than 250 MP seats. Even upper caste are now supporting Mayawati in big numbers.

BSP = Mahatma's congress
by Kris on Jul 20, 2008 11:56 PM  Permalink

Mahatma Gandhi wanted to dissolve congress and rightly so. He was against British rule continuing in Nehru coat.

he would be proud to see Mayawati's rise in politics.

India would get real freedom.

Rise of Mayawati, BJP engineering absentions to cut her to Size
by All Right on Jul 20, 2008 11:51 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All the defections including that of Shahid Siddiqui shows it is not UPA but UNPA and NDA that are indulging in the defection game. But Shahid Siddiqui's defection has made the game clearer:

a. The Left's game-plan is to foster Mayawati on the nation
b. As the UNPA gains momentum, BJP's prospect of victory shrinks. What follows maybe is mass desertion by regional parties, particularly of NDA towards UNPA
c. The deal is being opposed as anti-Muslim

Within these re-alignments taking place, the BJP and NDA strategically are covertly encouraging abstentions. A UPA win will burst the UNPA bubble as the reward for all Mayawati's poaching of MPs will be that she will be tried for corruption.

Let the Congress believe in Indians. Not any foreign countries. The dictators of 1960s of the banana republics had the same approach. The result, lot of money went to Swiss banks and they faced firing squads or disappeared from lime lime-light.

Independents to teach the oppositions a bitter lesson
by mallaiah anchoori on Jul 20, 2008 11:41 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All the opposition parties are bent upon in seeking sadistic pleasure by toppling the govt at this crucial time when the country is passing through a financial crisis with spiraling prices on one hand and galloping inflation on the other. The independents who are not bound by any whip as such should come to the rescue of the govt in the interests of the nation & teach the oppositions a lesson by voting for the UPA govt.I am not saying that the UPA govt is so virtuous one to enjoy any public sympathy, but needs to be supported since the time is not ripe for going on a mid term poll entailing too much strain on the national economy which remains shattered already.Left parties are known to let down like this while BJP does not look like being aware as to what exactly it is doing for the nation with all its loud slogans about national spirit, patriotism etc.Other major oppositions like BSP,with no fixed ideals or agenda, are nothing but opportunistic parties like any one else.It is strange that a person like Dewe Goude who was once the P.M of the country only by default-not any iota of worth whatsoever, also should black mail forgetting that, besides he himself,he has only one MP in his so called political a party.People should remember the positive harm being attempted by all these and teach them a befitting lesson. Multi-party system in India is proving as a bane to the country where the biggest democracy of the world is being taken for ride by unscrupleous politicians like this.

Nuclear Deal
by M Srinivas on Jul 20, 2008 11:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

If nuclear deal goes through, India's energy needs will be fully met, Nuclear energy is infinite energy though it more costly by 20% to 50% than coal or hydro electricity. More and more industries can be started, lot of employment can be generated for people and there will be overall improvement of life of people. There is possibility that India can become an economic superpower like Japan or USA. Regarding security, when India gradually become an economic superpower, more and more i.e. 10 times more conventional weapons, 10 times more missiles, 10 times more fighter planes and 10 times more nucler weapons can be built. More navy ships and more submarines, more fighter planes can be built or purchased. India had already exploded nuclear weapons. When India gradually becomes a economic superpower, govt. will have more money, hundreds or thousands of missiles with nuclear and conventional warheads can be built. No country will raise a hand against India. Now it is necessary that, India's energy needs are to be met and India had to become an economic superpower. Massive build up of weapons (nuclear and conventional) can be taken gradually in future. China or Pakistan will never dare to attack India, as India is a nuclear power and nuclear missiles can reach Bejing. If nuclear goes through, India likely to become an economic superpower as well as military superpower or mini military superpower in future. There will also be an option to buy gas from Iran in addition to nuclear ene

by Gopal on Jul 21, 2008 01:07 AM  Permalink
The energy addition is just 10% of total after a decade or more depending upon the time of completion of projects. There will be unsolicited delays created by 'special interests'. Total cost of the project will be around 3 lakh crores which will be invested in twenty years. The Indian financial system can not absorb such huge investment for such a short period which will create unprecedented inflation beyond imagination. Taking into account the cost addition due to decommissioning, the unit price will be Rs40/- per unit for the energy generated by the nuclear plants. The question of uninterrupted supply is doubtful. The system condition after 20 years depend heavily on other sources of supply. Unless there is a proportionate addition from other sources there is no guarantee about uninterrupted supply. The damage to the atmosphere is irreparable!! Radiation hazard is the most important problem to be considered -technically and financially.
In my opinion our approach should be 'to live and to let live'. Not to be a super power and / or to rule another country. Above all we should have freedom of thinking and to act according to our consciousness.

Mayawati will be the next PM
by Robin Hood on Jul 20, 2008 11:35 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mayawati will emerge as the final winner of all this mess. Dalits and Muslims will solidly consolidate between BSP now. Together they constitute over 45% of India's population. It is sufficient to provide enough base to BSP to emerge as a key contender for power. With Left's support, Mayawati has very good chances of becoming the PM next. The biggest losers are SP who have foolishly given away their most significant and largest support base (Muslims) to BSP. Mulayam will regret this for years!

Muslims are equally divided on the opposite fences regarding the deal according to several polls. There are many who hold no opinion regarding the deal. Mayawati is being foolish, so are the left parties by making it an anti-muslim issue. It will not be a vote getter.

It is certain that Mayawati's role in national poiltics will be larger. Whether the UNPA Left gets enough seats to form the Govt after the next election is not clear (though quite possible).

One other possibility is a Cong govt. with a much smaller number of seats which is dependent on the Left support from outside in a more crucial way than now. Of course, for this to happen Manmohan Singh-Chidambaram duo has to go (and replaced by people more acceptable to the Left such as Pranab Mukherjee).
