This whole funda of nuke deal is a facade as govt has lost credibility ( which it never had as it was a set of people against a party) which they brought showing Dr. Singh as PM. They had to detach left or left had to detach from the Govt as the entire country is going thru economic crisis. Congress chose to take this deal forward not because of any national interest which they never had since Gandhiji times but just to divert attention and all it will do is gain as they are pretty sure of loosing elections due to anti incumbancy. They dont see a scope of recovery in the economic crisis.which shows that WE ARE IN FOR TOUGHER ITMES ahead. Congress can only gain as the anti leftist crowd might be swayed to think that cong is taking a corrective stand against the left. Also the traditional BJP crowd who are expected to be Pro American since iraq/ laden would be swayed to their way.

Any such calculations may be flawed as the Voters in India are deeply fragmented and also now a days more and more elections are won more on economic issues than these mere political posturing which congress and the left are punters of.

Is the deal good for India?
by Chris on Jul 17, 2008 05:57 PM  Permalink

We cannot be sure about this. There has been a lot of criticism from scientists in the know and there are clauses that will ensure a non proliferation regime in future. Also nuclear power will be an expensive option at Rs 9 per unit. Overall, the Govt has no credibility and even Dr MMS has shown himself to be a liar. American arm twisting seems to be at work here. Educated Indians should draw their own conclusions. A second edition without restrictive clauses could come about if we say firm No the first time. This is not possible with a Govt that is badly compromised. This is not about BJP or CPM or anyone else. It is about what is right for India and India alone.

bring a single party govt
by Donald Duck on Jul 17, 2008 05:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

whatever you do, next time vote for a party that can form govt alone, either at state level or national level.

we are not matured enough politically to have coalition governments.

whether it is congress or bjp, give them a clear mandate and let them rule for 5 years.

i am not for or against any of them, but in gujarat, m.p., rajsthan, orissa, punjab, haryana etc. at least one party rules for 5 years.

all politicians are more or less the same, but not having a clear majority is definitely a nuisance.

I will definitely agree with what you say. I would like to add one more point and advise our country men & women to vote for any national party for Lok Sabha instead of to a Regional Party.

Harish Nagpal is not an MP from Almora
by Bhupendra Joshi on Jul 17, 2008 05:49 PM  Permalink

The MP from Almora is Mr Bachi Singh Rawat of the BJP, and not Mr Harish Nagpal as mentioned in your report. Incidentally Mr Rawat is also the President of the BJP in Uttarakhand. Kindly correct your report accordinly.

BJP is doing a historical Blunder by giving into the hands of the Congress.

Who is sure to loose elections if held now six months will not do any good to them.

The Congress will have some thing to talk about in case they fall now otherwise they were going to be humiliated by Public for such mis management. BJP is stepping into a false trap in case they come to power now.

alliance
by biby tharian on Jul 17, 2008 05:45 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It seems all this small parties are dreaming about a general election and an alliance government. So may be they can get some ministerial post or something. If it happens, it will be the greatest disaster for India in next few years. Alliance governments are always aimless, senseless and multi policy governments. Only thing will all party will eat there shares on our(normal peoples) account. Wee can only pray for India..

When we were not having fuel, why those many atomic centers were started? Why we are finding fuel shortage now?

Is this related with expansion plan? NO. US is taking dirct control over about 70% of existing atomic centers and remaining 30% they can under there satellite camera and monitor the activities closely.

Private companies are planning to enter in Nuclear power generation? What about security? What about company take over by terrorist (through third party)?

What is a manufacturing cost? it may happen like Enron.

How we going to manage a risk? United carbon has not yet reimbursed the money to poor people in Bhopal/India.

No clarity, no transparency from government, just because Sonia / Italy want it.

Is this idiot lady having any vision? See the condition of farmers, now banks and savakar are not giving the loan to them.

This government must go at earliest.
