congratulations rediff for putting up good advertisement for the 'deal' for last 2-3 weeks!
Really looks suspicious when you guys keep posting articles as "a good deal" "a landmark deal" "deal explained" to support the deal - without ever mentioning about the poor way in which the upa has handled this 'deal' and also avoiding any mention of Hyde Act et al.

but there are ppl like you and me who don't know anything about the 'deal' and mostly have doubts....
Ideally media should be impartial and put on articles explaining both sides - I am really getting sick of these one sided articles (read advertisement) - most of the media today seems against BJP ...
This deal is not good for India at all .I hope these fools at the centre will have the foresight to not go ahead with this disaster of a deal. US wants to push this deal (especially Bush) because, they understand the non viability of the nuclear power as a source in the future. They are actively engaged currently in fullfledged Alternative energy research (solar, wind and bio) as they see where the future lies. And the decrepit and soon to be outdated nuclear technology (which is crude, eco unfriendly and dangerous, as well as lower yeilds and high expense) is to be discarded and sold to developing country like India. But they can do this only while there is still a good resale value for this which won't be for too long, which they realize as developing countries are fast catching up and hence the push to get this bill ratified. As I see it, only china and Communists ( and now BJP which is ofcourse doing it only to go against congress) are the real friend of the poor and common folk of India. Think calmly and in a detached manner free from your own selfish interests and benefits that this deal might bring you personally or your immediate family in US for just a few more years left for you to live in this world and that too as miserable third class citizens. You see, this deal is not about ship abandoning IT coolies hiding in foreign burrows but this is about the plight, hopes and aspirations of the poor, rural and common folk of my beloved motherland - Whom you have forgotten.

This deal is not good for India at all? So you made a statement. Have you even read the text of the 1-2-3 Agreement? If so, what clauses concern you?
I am sure knickerwallahs just take cues from BJP spokesmen - do not read the text of the agreement.

To everyone know the facts before talking trash like Jay .
Do u guys know
1 .france's Électricité de France (EDF) country's main electricity generation and distribution company — manages the country's 59 nuclear power plants
2 。 As of 2004, these plants produce 99.8% of both EDF's and France's power production (of which much is exported)
3 。France is the world's largest net exporter of electric power, exporting 18% of its total production (about 100 TWh) to Italy, the Netherlands, Britain, and Germany, and its electricity cost is among the lowest in Europe.
SO JAY TELL ME IN WHICH WAY NUCLEAR POWER IS NON-VIABLE ?? if u're talking about the cost factor yeah it's expensive but not once we start mass production and u tell which project whatever it nature maybe doesnt require huge capital ?? u Dont want the nuclear deal to go through but u dont mind we buyin oil to produce electricity for 140$/Barrel transpotation fee ?? its gonna hit 150/Barrel soon . where's the logic in it ? know the facts the speak and if havce no clue about whats it about try to learn about it then speak .And if u're china-biased y dont u go there and live ? noone wants u here to be frank ..and About hopes and aspirations of poor in which way their hopes and aspirations would be affected if the nuclear deal go through ? Stop acting like a messiah of poor . Hey my friend i think its u who need start thinking in a detached manner .
Coming around by Mr. Varadarajan is a great step for national consensus. This U-turn for The Hindu group could not have come easy. His caveat on prudential strategy is perhaps for internal audiance, or may be clean break is so emotionally taxing!
Once legality is in place, specific implementations would be competitive on all aspects of the deal and application of thought would be of sophisticated order. Makes sense for India to let all compete on level playing ground.
Presently, we need to express our gratitude to US negotiators for taking responsibility to be enablers of the deal on behalf of India.

Road blocks, deliberate or otherwise, which seek India to compromise on a non-reciprocal basis can not be ruled out. If that happens, hopefully India would not be found wanting to enforce effective counter measures for abrogation of the N-deal. Let us not forget history as yo how US had opened up Japan over a century earlier.

Internal national unity, despite grave provocation is therefore absolute necessary to be able to handle the fallouts of failure, if any, in the N-deal.
'Even if the right to withdraw facilities from safeguards were stated explicitly and upfront, as some have suggested India should have insisted on, the level of international opposition as and when India were to invoke that right would hardly be less strident.' I don't agree with this opinion. The opposition to India would have been much weaker if the provisons were explicit. Why were provisions not put explicitly in the agreement?
Sonia was rejected as PM for the reason that (not being a Citizen) she may get access to all the National secrets. With the pretext of this deal, she may be prying on many secrets that even other MPs are deprived of. If someone cannot be a PM they cannot be a MP either. BJP, its time for you to stop dreaming about your next elections. You have enough money to buy some more MPs.

Usamanta is a rabid knickerwallah. They are totally bias and so totally illogical. He needs help so ignore him
This N-Deal is only about the Political Pressure to Sell off Indian Sovereignity to the Western World.
A lot of Projects are initiated to Mine Indian Uranium And All of them are destined to deliver by 2009 or 2010.
Any Mining will not take more than 1.5yrs to start production.
This Con-gress wants to push this deal And Then Say, But for this Deal, we would have had NO Uranium.
We Are abt to get Self-Sufficiency by 2010. And All Western Countries are eager to Mine Uranium from Indian Mines. May be, We even have a lot more Uranium Reserves than publicised.

India has insignificant reserves of uranium. This is based on data published in international journals. If Congress is pulling a fast one, wouldn't the NDA government set the record straight.

The Communist are in efforts to buy MPs in its favour with money provided by the Chinese Goverment to vote against the confidence motion on July 21.22. One of their party leader himself said an Mp cost Rs 25 crore though he said in accusing manner. But they have a lot of Chinese Money to by just not MPs but even small political parties.
