Wrong Calculation on UPA side
by Shyam Sen on Jul 22, 2008 02:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

You have shown SP as 139 but it is now 134 as 5 of its rebel members will vote for NDA. That makes UPA total 265 and not 270 you have shown.

LA(O)ST OPPORTUNITY
by Ajay Saxena on Jul 22, 2008 11:21 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The current political heat has reached to such a point that whatever be the results would be, no major party Congress, BJP or even the Lefts stands to gain.

Anyone would easily agree that at this time no party has any issue to bank upon, though Congress has some negative sentiments due to inflation.

This was the most opportune time for both BJP and Congress to stand Tall before the nation. Congress stands to loose the image if it wins the trust motion because of horse-trading in full swing. Mind you its worst to get a bad name than to be bad. It could have easily gone ahead without compromising the tall image what Mrs Gandhi and Mr Singh were able to erect in last five years and let it have its own fate and tell nation the real sacrifice. If PM is so confident of nation?s image, he can easily wait as Obama has also given his party's consent over the deal.

BJP on the other hand could have walked out saying that they support the deal as they were the ones who initiated INDIA SHINING and the deal but since in opposition and no matter whatsoever comes can enter into any alliance with LEFT they simply walk out. They can easily become hero of the nation and re-establish their NATIONALIST image. They can also take away the credit what the PM considers so important to sacrifice the Government. It is the real time to tell the nation that National Interest is far supreme than the petty politics and take the nation to its stride. The elections are anyway due in next 12 months

Scare mongering
by Kamal Dureja on Jul 22, 2008 01:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Emails like the earlier one which claims when our "Madame Wins Nation Losses" are nothing but scare mongering. In earlier 1990's when Manmohan Singh proceeded to liberalize Indian economy, there were many cries like this. Yet we all know what happened. The fact is that India needs nuclear fuel. The other fact that Pakistan requested a similar deal from the U.S. and was denied. Yet other fact is that while we are friends of China and Iran, there are many people like CPI-M who would give any thing to take India away from the U.S. India had socialist agenda for many years prior to 1990. Did it help? I am not saying that the West is good and beautiful but I am certainly trying to say that India must watch its own interests. And in case of Nuclear Deal, our interests are well served. Mr Kalam had been President of India. He is top most nuclear scientist. Would you believe him or you will belive CPI who are following diktates of you know who!. And lastly do not forget that what Chinese economy is today is largely because of U.S. and yet we are told that U.S. is untouchable. Go for India. Jai Hind
