Why is Left opposing this deal?
by Pappu Nuni on Jul 16, 2008 11:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Left are confirmed reactionary forces. We can attribute two main reasons for their opposition to the Nuke deal apart from the well-known fact that they are rabid US-haters.

One, they are acting in the interests of China. Respected Security expert and retired diplomat Sri B. Raman exposes the Communists

Two they are trying to communalize the deal so that they can rob the Congress of their Muslim vote-bank. This is exactly the reason they are bringing the words "Iran" and
"Minority sentiments" into the fore. They are challenging the government to choose between Iran and USA. How sick of them? Given that choice, not even Pakistan will choose Iran
- they will surely choose USA, how we be expected to leave the USA for the sake of Iran!

India is a great liberal democracy and nations like USA, Western European nations, Japan, Australia etc are our natural allies. Fundamentalist and exclusivist states can at best
be alliances of convenience, they can never weigh more than liberal democracies.

The Left's assumption that Muslims will take the Iran cue is also wrong. Today, Muslims in India will choose USA for education and employment given a choice rather than Iran or
any other Middle Eastern countries. In fact Indian Muslims are as much aware of Middle Eastern nations' exploitative employment practices as Hindus and Christians are. Left's
efforts to band Indian Muslims around Iran will surely backfire.

USA is not anyone's friend. Kissinger said( whose another sentence many have quoted that there is no permanent friend...), " It is dangerous to be an enemy of USA, but it is a disaster to be a friend of USA".

What has happened to Shah of Iran, Ortega of Panama, Zia Ul Hague, Benajir Bhutto, Saddam Hussein?? They use people today, tomorrow they kill them.

USA does not want any non-White people to have nuclear weapons. Chinese are honorary White, as defined by old South Africa. That is the reason for this 123 Deal.

Also, just like ENRON, all kinds of American vultures will now come to set up nuclear plants at India's money and then they will disappear when it will not work.

Myth #11: India needs more nuclear power to assure its energy future.
by Suraj Singh on Jul 16, 2008 11:21 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Myth #11: India needs more nuclear power to assure its energy future.

Fact: Nuclear power has been virtually insignificant in India’s energy mix in the past, and will be no more important in the future. India has been generating electricity with nuclear reactors for more than 40 years. Yet, reactors supply only 2% to 3% of its electricity today. India has not built more reactors because they have not turned out to be as safe, or as clean, or – most important – as economical as originally thought. Even if India were to achieve a 50% increase in nuclear power generation (which is unlikely) such a step would only increase India’s overall electricity output by one percent at most, and would only increase India’s overall energy output by a fraction of one percent. That is not a significant increase in the energy available to India and would not decrease India’s demand for oil and gas.

Its surprising when ppl & poloticians talk abt Nuclear Energy, even they don't know abcd of Nuclear. person said Indian reactor are not safe, so in ther history of 40 years India doesn't had any chernobyl like USSR or USA. Indian reactor are much more safe than USA reactors.

The deal is primarily about making money.
by Suraj Singh on Jul 16, 2008 11:20 AM  Permalink

Myth #14: The deal is not primarily about making money; it is about creating a new U.S. strategic relationship in south Asia.

Fact: The deal is primarily about making money. The main effect of the deal will be to pardon India – to remove it as a violator of international norms. After such a change in status, there will be no impediment to U.S. arms sales. This is where the real money is, not in nuclear reactors. U.S. exporters have mentioned selling as much as $1.4 billion worth of Boeing airliners, hundreds of F-16 or F/A-18 fighter jets, as well as maritime surveillance planes, advanced radar, helicopters, missile defense and other equipment. The Russian press has even complained that the nuclear deal is a ploy to squeeze Russia out of the Indian arms market.

switch later to thorium based reactors
by b gar on Jul 16, 2008 11:08 AM  Permalink

Now accept the deal and prepare all the infrastructure and everything, it is a heavy investment, but in side if we develop technology of thorium based reactors which we have abundant, can't we change the reactors after say some 20 or 30 years back, hope we would develop that technology within that time frame. anyway the protection and infrastructure might be needed same, So i think going for the deal is good, but i am not a expert, so i dont' know whether my perception about changing the reactor only is feasible.

Even he is creating so many problems with Sahara & Co. but sahara is close to mukesh he is able to resist him otherwise chor of Mulyam and amar singh will swallow the entire sahara & co. This comrade CPM has a single agenda to support such parties where maximum number of goonda is there. Actually north India comrade have no support but because of such anti social elements he [cpm-comrade] want to grow up. This is our India politics. Please understand my dear colleagues. This is the fact and truth.
Under this column I told several times we should think twice thrice before voting 2009 election we have to select the candidate individual basis not party basis. It may whomsoever person should honest, sincere, dedicated towards to take care of common people. Integrity should be with people and our country. Once he / she is serving to people let them we will kick it and now situation for congress party like so please keep in mind this 2009 election we will not allow the congress party to rule in india. It does not mean that I am staunch supporter of BJP actually what I am saying is this time we have to elect the person individual not party basis. We had a experience for the past several times and none of them performed towards in the interest of common people. Let them this we have to elect individual basis they should run untidily with good common programmes or if they are not able to unite let them India should rule by president of India. It will automatically change the atmosphe
