If he quits, Congress will lose one more vote - because they have to nominate one more senior person from Ruling Side to chair the LS. That means one person plus in Opposition side and one person minus in Ruling side.

To quit or not: Speaker yet to decide
by kiainth on Jul 14, 2008 12:27 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Som Nath Knows that he will never return to Parliament again as he can't contest election from his present constituancy which is declared as reserved. So he is trying to take full enjoyment on public money. From the day one his behaviour was not as per reputation of this post and always behaved arrogantly against opposition.
It is surprising that inspite of withdrawl of support from his party, this man is still in hope for this post.
Dada resign and go, take rest !

The speaker's position is the very crirical in the voting as he can decide about the eligibility/disqualification of candidates during voting.

Somnath Chatterjee has a mind of his own. Let him decide according to his conscience for the good of the country.
Why pressurise this sincere person?
