What a fall for the Congress
by Ezhil Maran on Jul 15, 2008 07:44 PM  Permalink

In 2004, after assuming power, the Congress led UPA strutted around arrogantly and Sonia Gandhi was the Chief Priestess. She had the authority to snub anybody [except Kalam whom she dared not snub]. The story of Amar Singh is well known. She ingratiated herself to the Left leaders, Surjeet and Basu and won their admiration and support. She never imagined that one day things will turn around. Today she is desperate to save her Government, and she is prepared to meet anyone if it help save the Govt. The insult to Amar Singh was forgotten [ or rather swallowed her pride ]. Gone are the moral posturings. Today even a single MP is valuable and so horse trading is on. The sundry smaller parties which did not get merit even a glance from the Congress all these years are suddenly in favour. Not to mention the criminal MPs.

What a fall ! But then this is nothing new. Remember the JMM and the Congress in 1991-96?

NUKE deal
by Vijayan TA on Jul 15, 2008 07:42 PM  Permalink

4 years we had a speculative PM, FM.They colg have mined uranium with FDI.We speng 8000 crores for sports to get no medals.Enron (Cong. deal cheated Mahrastra with bad tech.No assurance US plants will deliver! We ask them to have plants in ships to give power? Govt has no real nation building simple ideas as national water grid that can triple our food levels9 100000 crores- we have a bad Nuke tech that will need 100s of year to monitor. Kalam also did nothing for solar/wind which we have than USA!Our UPA wastes public money. He could have spent 100 billion for new renewables that will start production in few months not 15 years of Nuke plants & last decades instead of 40 year of nukes with no pollution?Another enron? why not a 10 crore prize for new energy inventors?

HOW MUCH LEFT GOT
by praful nikam on Jul 15, 2008 07:41 PM  Permalink

LEFT today is speaking about 25Crores getting for each MP so how much they got for four years my god 6000 Crores ruppes..........
superb now i come to know from where they got the courage to pulldown the goverment.
LEFT is saying that goverment is offering 25 CR. to support goverment but how much LEFT offering to small parties to oppose goverment.
We know small partyes are not of there BAAP(Father) so how can they support LEFT without any benefit ex. Take the example of Mayawati :- she openly sell part ticket and to join his birthday party also party workman have to pay, and now she is supporting left free of cost.(R people of INDIA fool).
One sid A.B, Bardhan is saying goverment is purchasing MP's on othere hand Same MR. Bardhan is saying we can support congress if Mr Manmohan singh go.(So now understand yarr simple compromise change PM give us 30Cr per MP things get settel and enjoy power)
Congress is not fool to loose so big support for only deal i think congress must calculated small partys are less costly than left........

Indian democracy
by Girish Rao on Jul 15, 2008 07:32 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

is a farce. The congress and BJP should get together and rule. Their policies are same wrt economic matters. With respect to religious matters their views are diffrent and in those cases they can debate and come out with decisions. PMship should be held by rotation

from jain to bail out dr.singh
by nkpratapan on Jul 15, 2008 07:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There is nothing wrong for an Indian Citizen to come out from Jail and bail out a Government that is determined to bring in atomic power for the future indian needs. Think of a situation without electricity, can the people have light in their lifes ? Without electricity no nation can aspire to be superpower.
Kudos to Dr.Singh for his bold step; as Mr.Amar Singh has gone on record, that even he would not have been couragious politically to push through the deal; like Dr.Singh who is not a politician.
He need to be bailed out, and the red flags should be thrown to the winds as their vision is not for 50 years hence, but 50 years back.

First of all you are not completely informed of the pros and cons of the deal. Secondly, people sitting in jail have no integrity, no right to have a say in any matter. The present situation of the country is only because these kind of people have been allowed to have a say and control the Indian politics. THESE PEOPLE HAVE NO RIGHT, IF THEY ARE NOT STOPPED , THEY WILL GAIN IMPORTANCE AND DESTROY EVERYTHING. So start thinking in the right manner.

Does Democracy fail here?
by Basheer on Jul 15, 2008 07:26 PM  Permalink

A person wins with majority does not mean he is eligible. Often people do not understand the person properly or influences the voters by some other means. These 5 MPS are criminals do not mean all others are innocents. Many of them are corrupt or criminals. But, through some lopholes of judiciary they have escaped.

Indian democracy has to think about correcting this and at least criminals, rioters etc. should be kept out of reaching parliament.

Move Parliament to Tihar Jail
by Navin T on Jul 15, 2008 07:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Supreme Court may not allow the 5 honourable MPs to leave their cottages in different jails. In that case here's a suggestion:
Move all the 5 honourable MPs to Tihar.Convene special session of Parliament there so that the fundamental rights of each honourable MP are fully protected while complying with the court requirements. This will also give some much needed respect to Jails like Tihar and also make them more glamorous with all news channels showing the session LIVE.That will indeed be a fitting tribute to the founding fathers of India!!

by Cham Esan on Jul 15, 2008 07:27 PM  Permalink
The story is en eye-opener in 3/4 ways:
(1)All honourable MPs are from UP and Bihar.Clearly These states are far far ahead of all others.
(2)3 of the honourable MPs are from SP-a party of secular, people oriented leaders who claim to be the flag bearers of Jaiprakash narayan's socialism,
(3)Again 3 of the 5 Honourable MPs are from the peace loving religion. They are the saviours of mankind and people like Bush are unnecessarily talking bad about them,
(4)Not to be left behind Lalu and Paswan too have ensured some representation in the list of honours!

India has made great progress indeed!!!

Mr Basheer,
You have speak against BJP. That is your right but pls update youe knowledge. He is no more an MP but these 5 are still MP's and trying to vote. As you said earlier, it does not mean that only these 5 are criminals. Many more MP's may have committed crimes but are not charged or convicted till now. So what does it mean. Ex onerate these 5 MP's also. So then there is no need of any cout, judges. What you are saying means that to sentence any person, every other person who has committed any crime should be first caught and punished. Just because of your hatred for BJP, you are just talking rubbish and non sense. May be you also belong to the same category.
