Trust vote: TRS plays tough with Centre
by rajesh prajapati on Jul 14, 2008 09:48 AM  Permalink

YES - It is bargaining time now and everyone is out there trying to get their pound of flesh at the cost of national interests! Whether it is the TRS, the BSP, the AIADMK or name any group, they know that the govt is dependent on them and would not stoop at anything to extract their price! I feel sorry for the govt that they are dependent on these merchants of vote!

Trust vote: TRS plays tough with Centre
by Hebbar R on Jul 14, 2008 09:30 AM  Permalink

The way the Congress treats its supporters is clear from the way they deceived the Left and the way they treated TRS. The support of the TRS was taken (in both the Centre as well as the State) and once it was clear that the Congress could manage without the support of TRS, they were just ditched. This is probably a lesson for the SP too. At present however, the SP has choosen to be oblivious of this fact. They will learn this lesson when it may be too late.

If you do not know about deal, do not question it. France might have come with deal but it would be only with France. What USA is offering, npt only tech but its allowing India to trade in nuclear technology which is only allowed to 45 nations. All these states have signed NPT which India has not. India as per International law, can not trade in nuclear fuel and tech. Its dependent on some countries Russia, France who can give limited tech and fuel to India. And thats why India has not able to produced much nuclear energy. Whenever it needs fuel or advanced tech, International laws do not let India trade in these. Russia and France are also bound to International laws. This deal will open doors for India to get fuel, tech and let her trade this with all 45 countries.

Under the watchful safeguards of IAEA of course, with the impending Article XII A-7, XII C., and XIX of the Statutue of IAEA hanging like the sword of damocles over India's head..

Have you also thought about: a) India being reduced to a non nuclear weapon state under the IAEA safeguards; and b) India's Throium reserves coming under the purview of the IAEA safeguards... ?

I bet you didn't...

Could you spell out the details of Article XII A-7, XII C., and XIX of the Statutue of IAEA ? I have read all the 130 clauses of the draft IAEA on rediff and I do not find anything objectionable so as to term it anti-national and a betrayal. In fact, the terms appear to be very pro-India and am surprised that the whole draft was in consultation with the IAEA!
ManMohan was RIGHT in not sharing the same with the LEFT as making them public would raise much more stink in the West with the Ayatollahs of peace over there!

TRS has only two MPs
by Suresh on Jul 14, 2008 12:14 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Rediff, Please dont get taken for a ride my KCR. The TRS has only two MPs, with the party having expelled the third MP, Mr A Narendra who then went on to set up his own party. The party lost its fourth MP seat in the recent by polls.

It is too much for KCR
by mallaiah anchoori on Jul 13, 2008 11:58 PM  Permalink

The power hungry Chandrasekhar Rao who likes to be the head of separate Telanga,if at all it is formed,is trying his best to take advantage of the helpless & predicamental situation of the Congress.KCR's game is well known. He will grab the hair if it is reachable or alternatively touch the feet if otherwise. For several years after TRS's thundering success in 2004,he has been wooing & coaxing the people of Telangana with all his false promises although there had been no firm commitment from Congress side at any point of time.Earlier, rumours were rife that he was trying to come to terms even with Chandra Babu Naidu to sustain his own political existence after his debacle in the recent bye elections.Of course, similar were also news with Chandra Babu Naidu too who was reported trying to have talks with KCR after the exit of Goud which is likely to spur wholesale exodus of some more from TDP.It is not only KCR,but all those like Goud who snapped his connections & came out with a Telangana plank are really not intereted in development of Telangana, but are interested in enjoying power & making money.
As a strategy,it is O.K that KCR wants to strike the iron while it is hot & realise his political ambition of eventually becoming the head of a state, but his wisdom fails to understand that, with 3 members in his hand,he would not be able to make the govt agree for such a hefty demand which has been pending for the past four years.KCR too knows that UPA will not agree to his demand.

Dilli chalo for all small parties
by Rajendra Nayak on Jul 13, 2008 11:11 PM  Permalink

Every body is demanding his/her pound of flesh which is obvious. As Indians we are greedy and self centred without any national interest. But we give big lectures on the leaders who have sacrificed in the past.
BJP and commies have been labeled as anti nationals. Those who are for the deal say it is for nations benefit but take a risk of calling for an election. The market is down and many are about to end their lives. But nuclear deal is prime most even if the nation goes to dogs UPA is not bothered. It was informed that if democrats come to power the deal will not pass. Mr. Obama has clearly told that he will get it passed if he comes to power. When both the republicans and the democrats are going to pass and there is no problem why take risks of election and spoil a good market where people can make money in shares and other markets too.
Why create a panic which itself shows that congress, SP and others who are supporting the deal are not interested in nations interest. Mr. Obama says he will pass if he comes to power so why there is a hurry.
Individual and small group MPs are for a windfall to get their constituencies develop by threatening the UPA. It is better to wait for Mr. Obama or Decmber 2008 so that at any cost US will pass. Cancel floor test and bring down the inflation to 5% and take share markets upto 25 K by December 2008. Then Indians will say all UPA members are for the nation and will be reelected.

The trust vote is to test if the UPA government has the majority to rightfully rule the country(and hence has the right to make decisions like Nuclear Deals). The trust vote is not about the nuclear deal itself.
