Share of nuclear power in world wide energy production was one per cent in 1960 and between 1960 to 1986, it rose to 16 per cent of world's energy production. The share has remained constant since then.There are 439 nuclear power reactors operating around the world and the US accounts for 104 of these reactors followed by France at 59, Japan at 55, Russian Federation 31 and Republic of Korea 20. Out of the 35 new nuclear power plants under construction in the world, Asia accounts for 24 of these. While China is building six new nuclear power plants to get 5,222 MW power for its grid, India too is building six such plants which would add 2910 MW of to its grid.

This Indo-US Nuke Deal is Not Good. It is Only to finance the Bankrupt G-8 & their allies.

Proper Water Management thru Water Harvesting in Village Ponds, which were actually filled up and Encroached by Congress Party workers and its splinter groups Will Solve a Huge Power Requirement from the AGRIculture Sector.
Stop Power Theft And Use that Money to Finance New Projects.
Campaign for Social Afforestation with Plants which can be used as Bio-mass to generate Energy, Which means a double advantage. A Huge Amount of Energy Demand for the AC/Refrigeration Purposes will vanish. Also, Rains will be better And Hydel Power Generation with existing Capacities itself will Increase.
Diversify Industrial development across Geography, So that both Public and Private Transportation Costs will decrease. Which means Less Petrol/Forex And Also Lesser Energy Consumption in the Homes. People Also will have More Free time in their Lifes.
Encourage Non-Conventional Energy Sources which have much lesser Gestation Periods.
PLS UNDERSTAND that the GDP Growth Mongers & Foreign Agents Are Not Allowing the Above things happen because they want to grow their wealth at the COST of the Environment And Our Tax Money.
REJECT THIS N-DEAL. TOPPLE THIS UPA GOVT.

Left is opposing the deal not because the deal is not in favour of India but because of their ideological differencez viz USA.. anything re USA is taboo (while their sidekicks n sideburns (children) rush to holiday to USA every 3 months)
BJP is objecting coz they dont want the UPA to score points over them.
Well and the rest of the parties want to make a quick buck in the trust vote.
Bottom line is the only person who is interested in this deal and who thinks it is in INdia's interest is MMS AJ AbdulKalam and Brajesh Mishra.
At least he has the guts to call for a trust vote .. and is not bothered about his selfish needs.
U ought to be a scientist to understand the deal better than AJ Abdul Kalam but from what you are blabbering you do not know what you craping about.

I am saying People who were accused of taking Wrong decisions before are being Quoted as Authorities to refer To decide on the N Deal.
The Problem with N Deal is in Hyde Act and 123 Agreement And Not IAEA Agreement or in the Goodness of Nuclear Power.
I Already presented my views How Not Spending our Forex, We can Create Employment, Have better Harvests, Drinking Water as well as Have LESSER DEMAND of Power.

Increase in Hydel power means that more land is submerged and more people displaced from their homes. Thermal energy creates pollution and fuel sources are limited. Nuclear power can result in radiation risk and disposal of used fuel is difficult.As of now solar energy and wind energy are not viable on a large scale So what we need is a mix of these energy sources in the correct proportion and ENERGY SECURITY.
I feel the nuclear deal takes us in this direction. It will help us till we are able to use our own resource of thorium and help reduce energy shortages till then to some extent. Also one hopes for more efficient and safer nuclear energy production.
And ofcourse we should try to conserve energy, avoid wastage due to transmission losses and pilferage, harvest the rain etc as you have suggested

Majority of Power Shortages till date Are Only due to Political Corruption, Court Cases and related Delays.
Another reason is LACK of TALENT in the SEBs as the Best Talent even after joining has left to Private Sector to avoid unneccessary problems with Quotawalas in work and promotions.
Third is, Vanishing of Village Tanks and Lakes By Encroachers Which decreased the Ground Water Levels and Made the Water Drain into the Sea. That Resulted in More Power Requirement in Agriculture Sector And Also More Demand of Water for Domestic Consumption.
Lack of Water Harvesting resulted in Increased Temperatures Which Made ACs and Coolers a Neccessity. I found In everybodies House the Power Bills are double in houses with Coolers And 6 times in houses with ACs.
Meaning Manifolds of Increase in Power Demand. By Spending Rs. 35000 Crores to Dig Village Tanks/Lakes which will take less than 2 yrs, We can decrease the Load of Agri Sector as well as the Domestic Demand in Summers to 1/3 or 1/4.
We Don't need to go for N Deal and Increase our N Energy Component Which will only be delivered if At all AFTER 8/10 yrs.
Let the nuclear deal happen an let manmohan singh please his first master bush.manmohan thinks that nuclear deal will-
1.low down price of essential commodities 2.low down price of houses. 3.make living of poor and farmers very easy who are now living like hell. 4.decrease in inflation .price of each product is rising like anything. 5.make india terrorism free
