The Price that UPA has to pay to survive
by Anand YNI on Jul 11, 2008 03:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why 22 Jul and why not 15 Jul? Both days are Tuesdays in any case!!

The fact is that the Congress wants more time to finalise the deal with many individual MPs, since each one is demanding astronomical sums as his fee. Assuming each one who will be bought will be paid around 50 Crores, Congress will need at least 2000 Crores. It is about 50% of their annual commission. No doubt, the American companies will foot the bill but it will take some time to get the money and that is why the delay.

Look at what is happening in Karnataka! BJP is buying other party MLAs and making them ministers. They have resigned from their parties and joined BJP. Even if they do not get elected next time, it won't matter since they will make enough money for the next ten generations before they quit.

They should make amendments in the Representation of People's Act whereby any elected representative who resigns prematurely for whatever reason will either foot the bill of the next elections if he wants to contest again or will be debarred for a period of ten years if he does not want to contest immediately. But the question is as to who will introduce the bill??

All parties are same. Unscrupulous & scoundrels.

Correct. If an MLA/MP resigns his post, he should be barred from elections for a period of time and also the immediate person he defeated in the first election should be then deemed to have been elected, may be after fixing a minimum margin.

Is it applicable if a BJP MLA or other party MLA resigns and joins Congress ?
This has happened many times, but nobody blamed Congress then.
thats why BJP thought that they can also do it.

There instinct will be to get reelected not propt up a failed government on all fronts. There is a wave in favour of opposition others can join this wave, or be crushed.

Congress is misusing the rubberstamp president
by Vikas on Jul 11, 2008 03:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In 1999 when jayalalitha withdrew support to Vajpayee, President Narayanan (Congress rubber stamp) gave only 7 days to Vajpayee to prove majortity.

Even today Congress is misusing the rubberstamp president to get more time for horsetrading.

In future if BJP misuses the goverment, then nobody can blame BJP.

Forget President Sir. They have not been able to give one good Finance minister to the country. The bunch of jokers who were part of the cabint during NDA specialized only in histrionics when facing the camera. That a**hole yashwant choona famously known as the rollback sinha was the chief joker.

THATS A PROBLEM WITH INDIANs .NO CONSISTENCY IN VOTING. IF U COMPARE THE GROWTH RATE IN ALL SECTORS DURING 1947-80 N THERE AFTER.ITS FAR BETTER UPTO 80s.so congress did it but then expectations increased n people voted in a different manner cong-bjp-cong like this.people prefered a change always.

Safegurds Agreement not safe
by Joy Abraham on Jul 11, 2008 03:29 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I invite your attention to ARTICLE 103 of safeguards agreement. Even for minor non-compliance from part of India with the safeguards agreement, IAEA can report to Security Council to take military action against India. Please read the article given below.

"103.      If the Board determines in accordance with Article XII.C of the Statute of the Agency that there has been any non-compliance by India with this Agreement, the Board shall call upon India to remedy such non-compliance forthwith, and shall make such reports as it deems appropriate. In the event of failure by India to take full remedial action within a reasonable time, the Board may take any other measures provided for in Article XII.C of the Statute."

“To make such reports as it deems fit” - is the UN language for saying "report for military action to security council".

This article 103 must be corrected to the effect that in case of non-compliance, IAEA can decide to stop or reduce further supply of nuclear material for a definite or indefinite term and the decision to be reviewed annually by IAEA.

Why? We know last year IAEA nearly recommended military action against Iran, It is a political body and if in future Indo US relation becomes bad, US can do this kind of things.

Saddam was once best friend of US (like India now) and finally US captured Saddam and was hanged “Live Telecast”. So relations can go sour anytime and we mush be careful.

INDIA please change article 103 to avoid risking Securit

by RAMA on Jul 11, 2008 03:24 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In karnataka, news paper saying that BJP is buying Congress MLA's at 5 crores each. Now centre will buy MP's though NUCLEAR POWER will help to 2% productivity.Rising prices day by day and unemployment, those qualified will not get any suitable job, even though he get it will not sufficient to feed his family,so he will take bribe and make whole system currupt.Inflation kills over 50% of population. Now politics is a business where you can reap crores.Another interesting point is that more then 60% of people already devided on the basis of religeos votes.
