Nuclear Power Needed But Wrong Approach at this juncture
by prasanna kannan on Jul 11, 2008 03:03 AM  Permalink

I am not sure why government is turning bling eye towards developing reactors based on our thorium reserves. Some of the emminent Nucleat Scientist are concerned about this. Why is this run to sign it , is if political game because Mr.Singh does not have any credible achievement apart from taming the leftist or Mr.Bush does not have anything to say after his term apart from thousands of death of his own men, civilians.

There are two parts of this Nuclear Deal..Foreign Policy and Use of Nuclear Power. These guys are saying as though if this deal is signed the next day we have tonnes and tonnes of uranium feeding our reactors and delhi will have power full day in peak summer. If we believe this we are living in Utopia. Most of the reactos built are of russian Origin and it needs considerable modernization before we make gains from the existing ones. It is not the fuel in shortgage, but modernization which has not happened for decades.

One thing is clear with this rush becaue some there are some Lobbying Firms in USA talking to US Congressmen and there is serious stakes involved. With premature experience, i should say that india has not done enough home work for this deal.

NSG comprises of countries with conflicting interest.
God Forbid that i am saying this, i am sure that we will have a similar blog to say this deal has failed and we have been painted black by Americans.

Which people in India are against it? Since you only mention left, I can conclude that you are a leftist. Can you define a sellout? Is it going to be worse than what we had with Soviet Union? We survived the sellout, you agree?

All alone you guys rant and rave about the US and our relation with them. Please give some credit to the government for working on the big picture.
I want to have undisrupted power supply, my kids need to be able to use the internet, to use power for activity and be in a country were power is not a problem.
So Indians need to look at the Macro advantages than the micro disadvantages.
Please ask the LEFT to put their ideologies and views in a mothballed package and permenantly store them away.
