Agreement
by Tom Dick on Jul 10, 2008 05:31 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Now the govt. has made it clear that the agreement affects only civilian nuke facilities, why the hulabaloo? The left is unnecessarily making noise. One thing they have to realise is that this is an agreement regarding the SAFEGUARD issues of nuke facilities. No responsible govt. will make it public because it is like you tell the world that all your money and gold is kept in the bedroom cupboard and the key for the cupboard is on the livingroom table! Govt. and the IAEA does not want the facilities to fall prey to nuke terrorsts. So there is no way the govt. will publish details of these issues. I guess this is also part of the agreement that the govt. will keep this information from falling into the wrong hands. We have plenty of 'wrong' hands with affiliation to our neighbours!

Now that IAEA has mentioned clearly that it will not interfere in India's nuclear programme, it only focus only on civilian programmes; all the doubting souls should have a sigh of relief.

So after all, MMS did not sell our country.

Like a man of wisdom and a thorough gentleman, the Prime Minister has conducted himself well. Talking only when it mattered and talking out of conviction.

That's a powerful stance.

Finally, the world is willing do business with us with all dignity.

Mohanty:

Sorry. IAEA has NOT mentioned CLEARLY that it will NOT interfere in India's nuclear programme.

Please point it out in the safeguards text. Read the above story again -- "the agency shall implement safeguards in a manner designed to avoid hampering India's economic or technological development, and not to hinder or otherwise interfere with any activities involving use by India of nuclear material, non-nuclear material, equipment, components, information or technology produced, acquired or developed by India independent of this agreement for its own purposes"

Hope you can read and understand the English language... My points:
a) the keyword is 'designed to avoid'... it does not mean a clear NOT.. it means it will avoid wherever possible..
b) what it will attempt to 'avoid'? India's economic or techonological development.. Where does it say it will ALLOW India's military programme to go on?
c) to qualify to be spared the safeguards, the material should have been procured from a source outside the purview of the safeguards.... pray tell me where is India going to get its Uranium from outside the purview of attracting these safeguards?... If it could, it would have done without signing these safeguards, couldn't we?..
:-)

So you may jump up and down, give out all sighs or relief, and demonstrate any song and dance, but the truth remains that India is going down a path which is full of brambles...

Going down that path in such a hasty manner, with a cob

RE:MMS and Pranab work as a house servant of George Bush, not for Indians. Both are goons. They have already said that it will go through IAEA after confidence of Parliament. Now Full Text of IAEA agreement is published in the US.
