Civilian Nuclear deal good or bad for india?
by Nipun jain on Jul 10, 2008 03:37 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Civilian Nuclear deal is good or bad for India in broader prospectives..?
As per my understanding of the 123 agreement and IAEA draft, both available online, Nuclear deal with US applies to cooperation on harnessing nuclear energy for civilian use only and not for making any nuclear explosives, and that only to Nuclear and non nuclear components, technology, information and fuel transferred using this agreement. This does not apply to any nuclear research and development carried out in India's own Nuclear facilities(for Military purposes) that are not using any of the transferred things transferred under Nuclear deal. So, we can still use our Nuclear facilities for all kind of advanced research.
All Nuclear facilities that come under pursuit of IAEA safeguards are actually notified by Govt. of India while signing the agreements and it can opt to keep any or all of the existing Military research facilities out of both these agreements. All new Civilian Nuclear facilities using the Technologies or components transferred using these agreements come under IAEA safeguards automatically..

That way it looks to be good for India. Please correct me if i am wrong in any ways..

What's your take on this? Lets discuss and exchange our views..

However, if India conducts any nuclear weapon test, then the nuclear supplier group may stop supplying raw materials to the civilian nuclear programme

BJP' is idelogically bankrupt
by Aftab on Jul 10, 2008 03:34 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

RSS & BJP Bajrag Dal Shiv Sainiks teach only one thing "HATE" "HATE" HATE".

HATE muslims, Hate Christians, Hate anyone who is opposed to them.

If their idelogies were so great then why today the youth from good family are not joining RSS shakhas.

Why the children of BJP/RSS leaders are going to the best public school, professional colleges and working in multinational. What stops them to make their children "Parcharak". Kuch to aisa hai.

They give their children the best that is available and for the rest one shoulder bag containing literures of hatred.

Their chldren live & work in airconditioned room and for others it is the scorching sun & cloudy weathers are good.

For their children six digit salary is required per month and for others a few thousand.

Their children spend evening in five star hotels or large food chains and for the rest it is the Chaiwala ki small shop.

They eat continental dishes, Italian dishes (Pizza)and for the poor it can be anything worth one/two rupee

The only charm of joining RS is that you are not required to amrry but allowed to aleep with many.

The end result is that Shakhas are getting deserted day by day and those who attend are extremely poor fellows.

RSS will become a part of history in next 3/4 decades

by bhaskar on Jul 10, 2008 03:31 PM  Permalink

Apnee log nuclear deal sign karee yaa naa kareen. They all are fit to be thrown into ocean.

They just want some drafted document and they could never read line by line to understand the consequence of signing the deal.
The rules framed by babudom are as follows :
1) WE (Indians ) cannot dictate terms to other nations .
2) We cannot come to any consenses decision making as most of the ministers are too afraid to read the document while babudom's are too good to accept with all humility ( as they fail to why US can use brains while we can just borrow )
3) Our babu' s are all happy to visit US frequently and njoy there stay.
4) Atmost we can form committee but whose members will always comprise of few old patients, young ideots, worthless individuals so that the committee can never take decisions ( as it becomes difficult to group them all under one goal )
4) Our politicians are worst lot, who will never understand why were they elected. (ofcourse to run the country )

It is surprising that average bloggers on the site have such strong opinion on the deal!
by Sastry on Jul 10, 2008 03:28 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I find it quite strange to see so many users emphatically stating that the deal is good or bd for the country. I think most of us are not experts on the subject. Certainly former Prez Sri Kalam is better placed than most of us. But it is not wise to question the integrity of equally competent technocrats saying the contrary. One of the two sides is wrong and we cannot sit on judgement. But the least that the government can do is to speak out what is hidden in the deal and why it cannot wait till both countries have new governments in place. And that time is not too far off.

How is it possible for somebody to have an opinion when till this morning, nobody except Sonia, MMS and a few other bureaucrats had access to the agreement draft with IAEA. Any opinion without complete knowledge and competence to analyze it would be quite meaningless.

all the top scientists related to n-deal were invited by the congress to discuss the deal & most of them turned down the agreement. media didn't publish it cos most of the media in ind support the congress govt which is unfortunate. yday it was revealed by moiley that scientists were invited & even they were for & angst it.

That is what I stated in the initial post. Why should we get so excited about the deal when persons competent to comprehend the matter have divergent opinion. My only objection is regarding the haste of the govts to conclude the deal at the fag end of their respective terms.

if ppl hav common sense then a deal as such can only be agreed upon only after discussion with top scientists. otherwise how can a MMS who is only a economists know so much abt n-deal. it also applies to other ministers as well. u c in ind or maybe any others states not all the ministers r educated to take a decision by themselves in national interest or even for their benefit. so its a broader matter. ther ppl who don't much shudn't raise voices on this board....

Please forget the incidents of 1984. Now Sikhs joined the mainstream and a person from that community has become Prime Minister. Whether we like US or not, we have no other go but to support the deal, because country's power demand cannot be met without this nuclear deal. I personally feel those in NDA including BJP, SAD, etc, must support the deal. Reason being that no national leader all these years made efforts to make this country power sufficient
