Although we are ashamed of this disrespect. They(POLITICIANS) are not.....
by RAJESH T on Jul 11, 2008 10:57 AM  Permalink

As an Indian I feel asamed of the fact that we do not treat our martyrs the way they deserve. Look at our externalaffairs minister and defence minister lobbying around the left for clinging to power when they should have been attending the funerals of martyrs like Venketswar rao or the funeral of Major Sam Manekshaw. I feel we should blame ourselves for this disrespect shown to our martyrs and our soldiers. We should react to this irresposible behaviour of these selfish politicians. we as a nation should not vote to power these selfish politicians who are more concerned of clinging to power than serve the nation, I feel its time that these power hungry hyenas are lynched or shot or hung in public for any corrupt practise they indulge. If this type of law is enforced then we vmay see a great change in the attitude and behaviour of our politicians. Also then the respect the martyrs deserve will be recieved by them...God Bless India...

INSULT TO MARTYRS
by tejas lele on Jul 11, 2008 10:53 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It really pains me to learn about and write about this. This is not new to the martyrs and their families since 1947. Its our idiot and irresponsible govt. that is the root cause of insult for the martyrs. I am a young Indian of 23 yrs of age & hv witnessed the 1999 kargil war. But 9 yrs down the line there r many soldiers who hv not yet got what they hv been promised by the govt.
Take the case of Lt. Saurabh Kalia and 5 men under his command who were brutally tortured by the pakistani army. Why is not justice made to him? the govt. only kept promising but did nothing. Poor Lt. Kalia's father Dr. N.K. Kalia (whom I met at my residence on his visit to Mumbai) told me his plight. What about the torture & murder of our BSF soldiers at the bangladesh border. The govt. kept silent. Had the same happened to any american or israeli soldier they would have attacked and destroyed that nation. Its a harsh truth that the Indian govt. is negligent of the sacrifices our soldiers make defending frontiers.
Also its an insult of our 54 army and airforce officers who hv been languishing in pakistani jails since 1971 war. What has govt. done? We returned 93,000 pakis but our govt. didn't hv the sense to bargain them for our soldiers. Just imagine brothers what horrific and gruesome torture those 54 valiant sons of India must hv faced.

Dear Indians just feel the pain of those who hv faced torture so that we remain safe. I salute them. India owes them her freedom.

LONG LIVE HINDUSTAN.

Honouring martyrs?
by Shashank Wartikar on Jul 11, 2008 10:51 AM  Permalink

Honouring martyrs? Do we Indians ever do? What we Indians do is get busy in earning money in whatever way and for which we make the politicians bigger than what they are. If a rich person dies all the news channels will also cover it. The best example is the Arushi murder case. But did the news channel protest strongly about the absentism of our ministers and bureaucrats at the funeral of our hero ... Manekshaw? The president had all the time to come to Pune for 2 days for just inaugarations but no time to respect our hero.

our brave soldiers
by Ashish Joshi on Jul 11, 2008 10:49 AM  Permalink

what else can u expect from this bloody mafia state, that is India? Ruled by crooks and criminals ( read Congress) who sold the country down the river long ago. No country compromises on its safety and security except mera bharat mahaan, who'll do anything for minority votes and for staying in power. for the common man, india is truly Hell. I guess by now even god must have lost hope for this nation. Where is the modern shivaji who'll liberate this country from darkness and ignorance? Is there anybody out there?

what about the living!
by shiva kumara on Jul 11, 2008 10:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When we don't respect the living and treat them well, how can we expect to treat the dead?
We should fight against corruption. I think the best way to reduce the corruption is to lynch the corrupt.

absolutely right...these politicians and bureaucrates should be sacked with the dead ones...And that's the reason why army is facing a scarcity of good mens....ek sipahi ke ghar wale bhi actually usi ke saath mar jaatey hain...Physically nahi...but sarakar unhe mentally mar dalti hai....

We are ASHAMED!

Not just the ministerial level but us citizens also do not revere the sacrifice our martyrs make.
They are making this for US, who else?
When we are busy minting money..enjoying life...they are putting their lives in risk for none other than us!
I wish the Media would hype sacrifices of martyrs...unlike murders of Aarushi!
