Our country attained independence 61 yrs ago ,n one of the best gifts that the British gave 2 this country as a token of their respect 2 the soldiers who fought 4 them still stands the test of time in NEW DELHI as INDIA GATE. Isn't it a shame on us that in 61 yrs of free indian n 4 wars we have not been able 2 gift 1 national war memorial 2 our soldiers SHAME SHAME !!!!.Obviously the sacrifices of our politicians are mush more then the soldiers cos their memorials occupy vaste expanses of land in the capital n every where else possible. But then we are not worried bout all this are we cos our nation is getting richer n people r busy they dont have time 4 all this nonsense right?? The media is 2 be blamed equally cos some stupid actress, politician, actor, cricketer or their ghar walas falling ill, having fever will find front page coverage in print n breaking news status in our TRP hungry news channels but then come 2 think of it our society is interseted in all this only rather then who laid down their lives for motherland cos they find mention on 8-9 page in 2 lines in papers n 10 sec coverage in news rt?? n why r v cribbing about all this when no(politicians)was able 2 attend our 71 war hero Field Marshal SHFJ MANEKSHAW's cremation then u cannot think that lesser mortals can get better treatment plz!!!! We all r scum bugs 2 have such politicians ,bureaucrats n system cos its we who are responsible 4 this .Its time we wake up or it will be over for ever!!!
Feel Sorry NO MORE B P PATEL, SUBHASH, Dr Rajendra Prasad , Ajad , Bhagat Singh at least not on list ..........just Gandhis and Gandhis.....still sucking country.....indeed these are HYBDRID GANDHIS........no more remembrane of Kargil or 1971 Shaheed.........we just celebrate 25 years of blood CRICKETING WORLD CUP............
We don't treat our living citizens properly - where will we treat our martyrs well.
yes.... only when a certain George fernandes sniffed some money making opportunity by importing aluminium coffins - atleast he made a half hearted attempt to portray it as something for the martyrs. But in the end - we all know what the reality was.
Indian ruling class is worst than their former counter part the English administrators. This class will be the first to fly abroad in the event of a hard fought war.Indian ruling class excels in the art of moving those emotionally who come from weaker sections of our society and really face bullets on the borders. This is sad to experience that the martyrs in our country are further cold bloodedly murdered by this so called ruling class by not paying their last respect to those who have made the highest sacrifice for the nation only to ensure that this ruling class keeps ruling the country as per their whims.
The only time our corrupt & selfish politicians reacted, was when the parliament was attacked. That point of time, they realised that they too could loose their lives to terriorism, inspite of have Z plus security.
Politicians never give a thought for those killed. They will only try to gain some mileage from such incidents.
As for paying respects, we saw who all had attended Sam Bahadur's funeral.
If there a personal functions of a top politician, see the way all these politicnas, no matter which party, swoop down to that venue.
it all boils down to what we are fed. we are consciously fed with a set of leaders we are supposed to mourn and remember all the time a select few that have been drilled in our brain for reasons best known to everyone. sycophancy.
we have the name 'gandhi' printed all over the textbooks, airports, roads, plaques, universities, etc etc. but did those unlucky martyrs have the name as gandhi ? nope. no wonder he died a death least remembered. for dalits they are brainwashed with ambedkar, as if they dont deserve another leader. congress is and india is stuck with gandhi. maratha people are forced with shivaji. annadurai down south in tamil nadu. raj kumar in karnataka is the currency - any insult to these said heroes will incur great wrath.
the flipside is that we have an overdose to these heroes. they occupy a place that almost borders on the dangerous side - that, one has to remember them all with humility, no idea that goes against the said hero's organisation - note - its not the hero, its the usage of the organisation which idolises the hero. thus congress, dalit party officials, shiv sena, etc etc have complete unbridled control over their respective heroes. one mud slinging incident and the nation is held hostage!
phew! and we thought we'd get progressive over the years after liberalisation, tv and internet ? fat chance.
we are far far away from true democracy. we have a democracy only in name and a true democracy of holding elections. it doesnt go fruther than that

Shamless has been our record! Recent example of Sam Bahadur is enough.Did we hear appropriate messages from politicians of all colours and age! What to say of politicians, even Faoujis were found wanting this time.
Besides Mahatma in Gandhis,Nehru and Indira and Khandan are the only one to move ahead in the show.Remember recent naming of IIM shilong where they added RG into it.
we are still looking for a martyr memorial site for last 60 years. Politicians are busy collecting money, properties, and looking after their interests.

Are you so inhuman and cannot understand the feelings? Please if you cannot share the feelings atleast do not insult the departed souls.
After you see the track record of our government's concern for those who serve them in ultimate way, there absolutely no doubt that our government never felt nor does it feel for martyrs. In any other responsible country, such government officials are made to answer in front of law. But our government is most interested in its own survival and personal interests.
