DO WE TREAT OUR MARTYRS RIGHT ?
by ramamoorthy ramamoorthy on Jul 31, 2008 09:53 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I must say that the martyrs who sacrifice for our country deserve better treatment from both the government and the public. Their life is always at risk and they are not gifted to lead a life in the company of their family.

No.Never we treat our marttyrs with respect and regards. Just take the case of Parliament Attack victims case.Who is there to bother the great soldiers.Who is there to give support to the kin of the dead soldiers.Imagine if it is a politicina or thier kin give up thier life in such attack. The tomps will grow through out the nation in thier memory. Collections and donations in their memory, institutions such universities, colleges, musiems, airports, bustands like many in thier names.Take the case of Afsal Guru.If Afsal and his team murdered any politician during the attack. What would have been his fate.Take the example of murderers of Rajiv Gandhi. There was no time to spare for their execution. The great Afsal Guru is living laxuriously in A/c Glass house at the expenses of poor indian Tax payers.Where is justice in this bloody politics.pseudo secularits are growing here.See one NGO has come to save the terrritst Ajaml.Whether any member from this NGO ever turned to the house of great soldiers like Sandeep Unnikrishnan, Karkere and others. All are trying for publicity.Mahesh Bhat, NHRCs, fact findign committes etc are trying to self exhibit and the same is not in the interest of the nation. This is the time to recoganise these bloody politicians. Now the Kshmiris realised how they were misused by these politicians all these years. The election result is the reply for the same. This is only starting point. Wait and see. There will be a lot of changes in near future. sure

It is time to give up our need for Spoon
Feeding.
Why don't we the People organize things
privately rather than depend on Govt. to
act even in matters of sentiment?

Govt.'s main functions are that of the
Head Clerk to the Nation.

It should not be asked to act as Head
Master to the Nation.

by Pranay Mathur on Jul 24, 2008 10:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

All the jawans ready to be a martyr are living a miserable life at home and as well as in their camps. And sometimes I also think that its because of their miserable life that I am sitting relax at my home. One more which makes me to think twice as these peolple opted for these services and are doing their job.
I wish for no wars and attacks now. God! please bring peace to this planet. Life of every humanbeing is precious.

I am prepared to contribute small sums regularly
if some way could be found of identifying the
Genuine versus the Frauds, that are bound
to jump in for the Benefits.
Money probably matters most even in such
cases, I think, and we should not hesitate
to contribute privately as much as we can.

About Martyr and the New Concept of India : Crystallized Aug 1947
by armoredfish on Jul 16, 2008 02:38 PM  Permalink

India is a concept created only a few decades back. There are martyrs earlier for the 600-800 king and queens of the subcontinent. And many of them used to secretly write to the Britishers to protect the/save them, etc. Then came our concept of India and we had a newer set of martyrs for a cause. We still do not have a monument/war memorial from the people of India (meaning the Government of India). Yes, locally, the Indian Army has created many of them with its "own resources". And the Defence Minister nowadays is always absent for so many related functions :) of war heroes and the like. And he is known to a spotlessly clean guy (and clean upstairs?)

Is Indian Ready for Women Officers in the Indian Army?
by armoredfish on Jul 16, 2008 02:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Todays' news about molestation of Major Poonam Kaur in the print media and the TV channels. It is sad. The lady officer should be retired honorably and the stupid generals with the politicians should sit down( no IAS - Indian Ass(istance) Service) together and put an end to female recruitment. I think the time has not come for the Indian Army to imbibe woman officers. When India will be finally sold (globalized) there will be a time when the women will be able to join in shoulder-to-shoulder, both for the ORs(Other Ranks) - soldiers and officers. It has to be a simultaneous input. Till then it is not possible. And it will only make headlines. The Navy and Air Force have no work anyway - and their work environment is much of times in various offices - it would could be for such women induction to carry on. But here too, remember it has to be the soldiers(naval ensigns and airmen) and the officers. Recruitment should happen simultaneously. Else men and India men being what they are only gawk. And gawk. It happens all the time in the corporate sector too . But then they are more "educated" and sophisticated. Our city bred rats.

A nation that cannot honour its women folk is doomed. There is some soul searching required.

RE:Is Indian Ready for Women Officers in the Indian Army?
by a m on Aug 06, 2008 11:03 AM  Permalink

I disagree.
We should privately train our women to be
strong and ready to fight back, and should
accelerate rather than decelerate women's
active involvement in all aspects of
National affairs including Defence.
At the most we might try to have passed an
Act of Parliament:
(a) granting absolute immunities to women against prosecution of any kind.
(b) providing legal and physical training related to rights and fighting,
(c) randomly chosing a woman from the
population when eligible candidates are
not found through normal processes.
At this stage of our Development, putting
a person of deprived categories in positions
of influence is more important than their
actual qualification for that position.
They will do a lot of harm from that position, but in long run it will be good for Society.

shameless country
by mukund a kulkarni on Jul 11, 2008 11:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is a shameless country where kith and kin of martyrs are treated as beggers. The security men who died while defending parliament are still not given the promised compensation. At the same time a big politcal farce is on to save the perpetrator of the crime Afzal guru. What would the amrtyrs think about this sort of moral bankruptcy?

What did you do for the martyrs who died dfending the parliament. I know of one small child who was born after his father died in action. Should I send this child to you? Will you raise him, feed him and educate him?

give money in a limited way.
Must be quite grown by now. Does anyone
know the actual child?

It happens because Indians do not
identify with India.
Our primitive, oppressive society has
prevented its so called members from
feeling like Owners or being a part of it.
Merely lecturing people about benefits of National Unity is not enough. We have to
actually practice Unity first, i.e.,
consider everyone's interests equally
when arranging our National Affairs.

Display of Unity arising from Rousing
Speeches in times of War has misled
us to believe that we are a United
Nation. In fact we are not a Nation
at all. Everyone who lives here is
in for his piece of the cake, and devil
take the Hind Most. No one wants to
return anything to the Nation because
they are all Tenants or Exploiters
not Owners.

Hi man get the defination of Martyrs rights. Gandhi, Indira, Rajeev were Martyrs. Nehru was half Martyr. Rest all are ordinary or terrerosts like Bhagat Singh and Chandershekhar Azad. This is still taught in CBSE syllabus.
Why are you talking of people who died protecting parliament? That is there job. If they dont do it they wil be traiters.

No We dont give due to our martyrs. We probably give more due to money clinching film stars or ever becoming rich ( for nothing great)cricketers. We owe respect and regards to Martyrs and needed care and attentions to their families then giving undue to petty politicians who join politics not to serve the country but themselves. Lets think form heart and from mind and salute the MRTYRS

The important thing that we keep on
missing in all our discussions is that now
it is time that people act privately, instead
of waiting for Govt. to change our Nappies
and Feed Us, etc.
Is it because we Indians are brought up
with an inbuilt Caste System in our minds
that prevents us from talking to each
other and always needing Govt. to
mediate?

A souless country
by mukund kulkarni on Jul 11, 2008 06:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This country has never bothered about real martyrs who gave life for the country. Vasudeoo Balawant Phdke one of the first revolutionaries died in a cell in South Africa in his thirties had his wife working as a maid for more than 50years.

A brave sardar police officer who faced the challenge of khalistani movement was arrested for human right viloations and was forced to commit suicide.
The military personnel fighting in kashmir are getting peanuts when they die, but the Govt is giving lakhs to the terrorists families when they die in anti terror operation.
This country always supports and adores aggtessors and outsiders and tries to beliitle the real brave.

Mukund

The strange fact is that this country has
more or less Survived so long. What is the
explanation?
Does it mean that all the talk that this or
that is necessary for country's survival is
not true, and we can survive even without
doing things Right?
