We should encourage such projects, stimulate the students to participate in international competitions and start creating.
Yhrough out the mug pots and bring in the inventors.
Good luck to these boys, hope they'll improve their project so it is accepted.

merit has its value
by R Balasubramanian on Jul 09, 2008 10:32 AM  Permalink

Koodos to the two who have brought pride to the nation, yet again. I am sure, these two joined Anna University on Merit quota and how much they would have toiled to reach this point of achievement.
Atleast now, let the government think of giving value for merit from amy class, religion and not bifurcate it on quota basis and bring down the value of education and deprive the needy to prove their inherent talent to the country and to the world.

Most are indeed ready to serve their country but the policies of the government deprive them the facility and hence they go in search of greener pasture. Till people like V P Singh, Arjun Singh, Moily, Romdoss, paswan, Mayavati, etc., exist, this is impossible to happen.

Please serve the country which do not see any discrimination. India does not encourage the deserving candidates but only caste based candidates.

So Anusha and Srinath support the countries who support you.

Unfair competition
by Dipak Bose on Jul 09, 2008 07:23 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

These type of competitions( just like Olympiads in different subjects) are unknown for most universities and colleges; this, only a few can participate.
In all cases professors do the work in the name of the students or pay a lot of money to some commerical firms.
Thus, these do not mean anything. DRDO after spending Rs.7500 Crores could not manufacture even a light aircraft.

But DRDO couldnt make a indegenous combat veichle or aircraft ... or even a remote controlled UAV to takeoff! but going to design a spacecraft. Good joke!
Are you working in DRDO? Go eat the 2Rs bajji and dosa they serve in ur canteen and orate politics. Have fun!

You are absolutely right. Most of the government staff particularly in administrative sections are most inefficient and highly corrupt. Leading organisations have a word in the world only because of technical people who, most are from forward class. Most of the Administrative staff are from SC and some from ST and BC. You will be surprised to know a Sr. Purchase Officer's qualification in one of leading defence establishment is just SSLC and Manager, Higher Secondary. He is provided a Car and Bungalow and free medical and engineering seats to his wards. Most of the existing staff in all government undertaking departments and government departments are under qualified and most inefficient but highly corrupt. Till the existing staff are exhausted, expecting productivity is futile.

Well APJ Kalam has only a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Madras Polytechnic, but he became the chief of DRDO, Chief scientist of the Ministry of Defence and President.

In a private organization it is much worse. Qualification means nothing unless you know someone or related to someone.Maximum qualification you need is BSc.
