US announces Iraq uranium transfer
by Raj on Jul 09, 2008 12:02 AM  Permalink

The United States secretly shipped hundreds of tons of uranium from Iraq to a customer in Canada on the request of Baghdad, a spokesman for the Pentagon has said.

About 550 metric tons of yellow cake uranium was moved to Baghdad's fortified Green Zone before being flown to a third country, where it was then shipped to Canada, Bryan Whitman said.

"The operation was completed over the weekend, on Saturday," Whitman said.

The uranium was found by US troops after the 2003 US invasion of Iraq at the Tuwaitha Nuclear Research Facility south of Baghdad.

It was placed under the control of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Rats desert the ship
by Ranjeet Pardeshi on Jul 08, 2008 11:55 PM  Permalink

But guess what, even if the ship sinks now, the next election will definitely go a long way to show that it is the rats who have sunk. And good riddance too. The public can easily through the sham that these commie goons are trying to portray. I look forward to the day that they dont have a base in any single state of this nation and are exiled to their adopted country - China. They are welcome to take their pink media vehicle - NDTV - with them. Once that happens I am sure the maoists and naxalites plaguing half the states in this country will also cease to be a menace. All in all not a bad future to look forward to. I just pray that MMS's mojo survives long enough to see him through this heroic scheme he has set into motion. For once you get the feeling that not all eggs are bad in our government basket.

CONGRESS HAS DEFIANTLY DUG ITS OWN GRAVE ... FOR THE 1st TIME EVER THEY HAVE LOST THE MAJORITY IN THE UPPER HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT...EVEN IF THE MANAGE TO GET A MAJORITY IN THE LOVER HOUSE...THEY WILL JUST BECOME A LAME GOVERNMENT TRYING TO HANG ON FOR A YEAR...IF THEY DO MANAGE TO LIMP FOR ONE MORE YEAR...THEY WILL BECOME SO WEAK AND USELESS...THAT THEY MIGHT NOT EVEN GET 100 SEATS WHEN THE ELECTIONS ARE HELD IN A YEARS TIME.....WHEN THE ELECTIONS ARE HELD..I CANT SEE ANYONE GETTING A MAJORITY...AND ANOTHER COLLATION IS THE ONLY OPTION....YEARS BACK ONE COULD NOT EVER THINK OF A COMMUNIST AND RIGHT WING COLLATION ..BUT FOR THE 1st TIME EVER IT HAS BECOME VERY POSSIBLE.......CONGRESS HAVE LOST A VERY FAVOURABLE ALLY IN THE COMMUNISTS....
THE ONLY OPTION FOR CONGRESS NOW IS TO CALL IN ELECTIONS IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT GOING FOR A TRUST VOTE ANA THEN HOPE FOR THE BEST....IF THEY DO GO FOR A TRUST VOTE JUST FOR THE ONE SIDED NUCLEAR DEAL WITH USA..AND THEY LOSE ...CONGRESS WILL BE CRUSHED IN THE ELECTIONS....IF THEY DO MANAGE TO GET THE NUMBERS...AND LIMP ON FOR ANOTHER YEAR....CONGRESS WILL GET CRUSHED IN THE ELECTIONS HELD IN A YEARS TIME...

Left move will not affect UPA's stability: PM
by JGN on Jul 08, 2008 09:16 PM  Permalink

No wonder, for our Politicians are adept at horse-trading. Even the late Mr. P.V. Narasimha Rao's govt was saved by bribing some unscrupulous MPs crores of rupees!!!!!!!!!

Indian Indian telling lies to the nation
by nickel biswas on Jul 08, 2008 08:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Why is it that the people who are against the deal now can only turn to insulting MMS and Sonia Gandhi's religion and heritage? Is it because all their arguments have been refuted point for point, and now they have nothing left?

And, BTW, the deal we are signing is NOT just with the US. It is with the 100 members of the IAEA, and the 44 members of the NSG. The agreement with the USA (123 agreement) has already been signed. I think you guys were asleep for that one.

Why are we even talking about Nuke Deal
by Indian Indian on Jul 08, 2008 07:30 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Everything is going in the right direction for the congress as per plan. The govt. will fall soon. The deal will not be gigned(Sardaar has no Intention to get it signed). The media blitz and all the hue and cry over the Nuke deal was to put cover over the 4 year of dark ages of this govt. This govt. was a total failure and every MP was worried how are we going to go back to over voters in 2009. The deal is a face saver for this non-performing govt. It will fall soon, but as most of the people on this forum thinks 1000s of Indian voters will think 'Sardaar sacrificed his govt.' and he will also join Maino Antonia as a great Martyr...

Nuclear Deal
by bala sreenivasan on Jul 08, 2008 06:50 PM  Permalink

Had the UPA Govt. signed a similar treaty with China, Karat & Company would have been too pleased.
This treaty is one of the best things ever done by the Congress and DR. MMS deserves all praise for going ahead with it.
