online Trading of MPs bet 11.00 am to 1700 hrs
by sanjay shridhar ranade on Jul 08, 2008 08:50 PM  Permalink

the commies had given letter of support but were pulling the goverment back every now and then.it is better to have opponents than have such supporters.evryday at 10.00am president should take online test of all MPs to confirm whether the government is having majority today
then the government should be allowed to take decisions during the day. This is live democracy.there should be online trading of MPs between parties. The party with bigger moneybags can buy more MPs and have a bigger moneybag

Tough task
by kskumar on Jul 08, 2008 08:43 PM  Permalink

Tough test for the President? What a joke ! She will simply abide by Madame Sonia's directives. In all probability, if the PM is confident of getting votes in his favour, he will face the Parliament, or else, he will simply ask the SP to declare support for the Government in writing to the President, who will then accept it. She is nowhere the calibre of our former President Dr.Kalam, who would have acted independently.

NUCLEAR DEAL
by A Roy on Jul 08, 2008 08:18 PM  Permalink

The popular feeling of the country is to go forward with the treaty though majority of us under a veil about the detail of the treaty.

Since, the divorce between the components of the Govt. is really Happening due to 123 agreement, President should tell the Govt to prove its majority. A minority govt. should not decide a momentous treaty.

But there is a doubt whether the president would do so. Remember, the photo of Ms Pratibha Patil with Sonia Gandhi after selection of her President and the obligation on her face!!! with all certainity she will pay back now. she will be satisfied with the written support from Samajbadi Party.

Tough test for the President

The senile president of india does not have a tough test on her hand.Everything is stage managed in indian politics with Cong-I highly experienced and cash rich dealers / fixiers behind the scene and the opinion makers twisting facts as per their convenience.

Drama!
by shreen on Jul 08, 2008 07:51 PM  Permalink

The H'nble President is more of a puppet in the hands of the Congress chief and came to that position only by that merit. Therefore, expecting anything neutral from her is a day dream. The N-Deal drama has been going on for half an year now.All elements of a blockbuster movies are being played on stage- twists, plots and counter plots. No one knows exactly whet is the issue. While on the outside, the deal looks essential for an energy starved nation, expecting the opportunist politician to execute anything without personal gains is asking for the moon! All politicians are chors and unfortunately, India has stooped down to such low levels on corruption and people's insensitivity that no sane individual like us here can even hope for something well meaning here. Its a big drama and we can at best watch the actions unfold without a role to play. 120 crores of headless chickens at the mercy of all politician dramatists.Bane of democracy. We need a honest dictatorship (is that an oxymoron?!)

Shri Shanti Bhushan: Why KR Narayanan asked Vajpayee to prove majority?
by Bharat Kr on Jul 08, 2008 07:50 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Shri Shanti Bhushan: Why KR Narayanan asked Vajpayee to prove majority, when Jayalalita withdraw support? It was clear that KR Narayanan wanted to help Congress, and re-occupy the President position second time. He knew, if Congress brought up a no-confidence motion, many parties will not vote along-side with Congress. And Vajpayee will remain PM. Vajpayee followed Narayan's instruction, and lost the motion by one vote. Now, you can't apply another standard for Patil and Congress. Smt Patil must ask the Congress to prove its majority, else she will prove to the nation that she is indeed a Congress agent.

You are right. Vajpayee lost by one vote who happens to be a old Cong-I MP from Orissa, who was made CM of Orissa.

When someone withdraws support, you have to ask the govt. to prove majority.
What the author said about getting letters of support, is when a party/coalition claims majority. The author has mixed the two up and given wrong meanings.

Pratibha Patil: Time to show, you follow dharma or adharma
by Bharat Kr on Jul 08, 2008 07:42 PM  Permalink

Pratibha Patil: Time to show, whether you shall follow the path of dharma or adharma. Congress put you on that chair, only to bail them out in need. Now, it is your chance to prove that or disprove that point. We the nation want to see you pursue Dharma, and stick to dharma.

RE:President is a Chamcha of Gandhi Family
by Bharat Kr on Jul 08, 2008 07:53 PM  Permalink
Why you think that way? Are we stupids to tolerate such barbarity? No way. President is not above the nation, she must realise that. We must give her chance to prove she is President, and not a puppet at the hand of Congress.
