It is all just drama by Left and Congress. There is just eight more months. Samajvadi Party is friend of Left. So Left arranged AmarSingh and Mulayam Singh to Support the congress. No one including BJP, Communist parties are not against the Nuclear Deal. But they cannot show it openly for political reasons. So they found a way with no compromise in the public eye. Only thing we have watch is how does this going affect the parliamentary elections in UP. SJP goes very close to congress; Maya Madam may come near to BJP. But you never know about Mayavati. Other then that it does not have any effect on political system as whole

Giving support to the deal would have actually fetched a lot of fanfare for the commies and bjp. They are not supporting the deal coz they can't bear to see others in good light even if it is in the interest of the nation.
RE:It is Drama
by All Right on Jul 08, 2008 01:22 AM Permalink
May not be a drama.
A SP-Cong tieup in UP will push BJP third place, probably not opening its account - losing 15 seats they hold today.
A SP-JDS-Cong tieup in Karnataka commanding 55% vote share will ensure BJP will not open its account - losing 18 seats they now hold.
Orissa, MP, Rajasthan & Chattisgarh - NDA/BJP governments face strong anti-incumbency -BJP expected to significantly lose seats
WB - a Congress-TMC tieup will imply Congress/UPA more seats at the cost of Commies. Kerala the Commies are destined to a white wash. Cong to gain 20 seats
And this is the short list.
So tell me where does BJP or for that fact the Commies or BSP expect to gain to offset these losses? That's why they contemplated that they will cast aside their ideological differences and roping the SP they could topple the UPA.
Unfortunately they failed and ended up with mud on their faces.

Hi Raj I agree that the communist members are intelligent and far educated than most of our politicians but I also wonder why Bengal has lost its charm? Bengal was once a progessive state, what is left of it now? Even in Kerala for that matter there is hardly any industrial growth. Fortunately most of the Keralites end up going abroad for a living. That's saved the state but sadly Communism has ruined Bengal. So where are your true patriots?

If Left front continues to do its good work , this country will sink and then stink. Of course "they will never allow to sell our nation" since nobody want to buy it. After next elections they will be able to give only outside support since they will have nobody inside ( I mean inside the Parliament ) .
The New York Times said in an editorial headlined, 'No Rush, Please', :
"there is no reason at all to rush. President Bush gave away far too much and got far too little for this deal".
The NYT full page full page advertisements against Sonia Gandhi when she came to New York to addresx the UN General Assembly. So they cannot be accused of being soft on the Congress.
This is a setback for the Commies and knickerwallahs who were saying that the deal was anti-national.

India's signing a deal which is far better than any other nuclear deal ever signed till now. No non-NPT signatory has signed a nuclear deal till now. Only countries who'll have a chance to hold our neck are pak n china coz they don't need a deal to transfer sinister technologies.

Wake Up Veera , I wish you were correct and this nation had progressed enough to fight elections on such important issues. Elections will be faught on stupid issues. Caste , reservation , secularism , communalism etc etc . Poor Manmohan Singh who is a good man and not a sub standard politician may beleive that people would vote based on issues like N-deal. But the smart polticians realize that this wont work . Amarnath issue will work for BJP and 27% reservation will work for Congress . On the day that the N-deal issue was boiling over see what the big leaders were doing :- Rahul Gandhi leads a delegation of MLAs to the MP Governor and demanded dismissal of the BJP government in MP for communal riots in Indore Rajnath Singh was in Jammu promising to revoke the order that was revoked by the Azad Government giving 40 Hectares of and to Sgrine board if ( YES IF ) the people of Jammu helped BJP return to power . India may be the Worlds largest democasy but we still fight elections on petty issues !

Don't just go for rhetoric. If u have valid point mention that point. Nuclear deal gives us technology and uranium by keeping our Civilian nuclear reactors under safeguards of IAEA which is done in case of all the countries including US, Russia, China, etc. Being isolated is no greatness - being recognised among the crowd in greatness.

Anyone you disgrees with you is a Knickerwalla . That is the only thing that makes every one of your points ( some good/others bad ) look suspicous ! Since you read only the N.Y Times you will understand there is Obama who beleives that N-Deal should not go ahead and there is Bush who thinks that the deal is the best thing . Does that make Obama a Knickerwalla ? If the deal was wonderful ( I personally think it is good. Not because I think that Nuclear Energy is going to solve our problems two days after we sign it but I think it would reflect a global acceptance of India as an equal partner ) why did Dr Singh and Sonia sign the deal one year back ? Why did not Sonia and Co dump the left and sacrifice the Government and sign the deal . Why did they need the support of the BJP ? Was 10 Janpath expecting Advani , Modi & Co to give them support from outside in place of the left . Let BJP and Knickerwallas say what they want , the Congress could have signed the deal with out even going to the Parliament! Why did Dr Singh say that one deal is not important enoguh to sacrifice the UPA governemt just 9 months back ? BJP is playing politics no better than the Congress is ! Decide if your fighting for the Deal or against Knickerwallas.
I think Mr. Karat & Co. is basically worried for China. Muslims are worried for power and Mr. L. K. Advani & co. is worried for the power. Ms. Mayawati and the likes of Deve Gouda are worried for the PM ship. With all this my prediction Congress will be voted back to power with thumping majority.

RE:Left withdrawal of support Congress
by All Right on Jul 08, 2008 12:48 AM Permalink
It is not the only right thing the UPA did. More important achievement are highlighted by Business Standard:
"Start with the performance of the economy. Its growth rate last year has been upped from 8.7 per cent to 9 per cent, taking the average rate of growth in the four years of the Manmohan Singh government to 8.9 per cent. I cannot think of any other government that would not make a bit of a noise about such stellar success, and draw comparisons with the record of its predecessor (5.9 per cent over six years) — showing a jump of 50 per cent. Or take agriculture, whose annual growth during the UPA term has been 3.6 per cent — again a jump of nearly 50 per cent, and the best record since the 1980s."
Vajpayee and Narinder Modi, by the silence, support the Deal.
Brajesh Mishra, former advisor to Vajpayee and former National Security Advisor support the Deal.
Abdul Kalam -Ex-President and candidate of the NDA support the Deal.
So why the BJP opposes the deal?
there is a difference. CPM's opposition is mainly because they are allergic to closer ties with the US, who they consider the most powerful imperistitic power in the world - the leader in the pack of all imperialistic powers.
The BJP's opposition is simply to prevent Congress taking the credit for a watershed deal and running away with BJP's urban vote base
In 1999, Vajpayee as PM and in 2000 Jaswant Singh as Foreign Minister of NDA, on the floor of the UN General Assembly categorically gave an assurance that India will refrain from nuclear tests, justifying such a position that India had no need to test.
So the BJP has made a turnaround. They now say that the deal reiterates the stand Vajpayee and Jaswant Singh made at the UN General Assembly and so they oppose the deal.
The NDA government was keen to sign such a deal with worse terms. Fortunately for India, the NDA fell
