Support P.M's Decision for the Nation's Good
by visu madhu on Jul 07, 2008 07:26 PM  Permalink

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has made the right decision. Instead of supporting an intelligent move why are readers showing so much of antagonism. US has been at the fore of a global fight for almost 30 years to deny India access to Nuclear power technology. Now after 3 Decades India has been offered a golden opportunity to emerge out to their nuclear seclusion and be at par with the top nations of the world in terms of nuclear energy output.Presently nuclear power production in India is 3%of the total generation of 120,000MW. Through large scale nuclear power production less dependency on traditional sources of fuel such as coal, oil and petroleum is possible. As a consequence, there would be fall in fuel and electricity prices. With the huge global oil crisis the emphasis on nuclear power production should be NOW more than EVER!

India has sufficient Uranium in Jharkhand and other places. Only need is to explore the potential. Also there are huge Uranium and oil deposits in the Krishna Godavari Basin and we can get our Uranium from any country it is not binding on India to purchase uranium from US. You people are like race horses with your eyes covered and you can see in only one direction.

You are misinformed or are you are knickerwallah trying to disinform?

True alot of countries have uranium reserves. None will supply it to you without clearance from the NSG. This is why we are signing the deal To get the waiver from the NSG.

why do you have to bring knickerwallahs in this? are you so devoid of rational arguments that a smallest temptation to resort to a punching-bag can drive you to look like a prejudiced bigot who likes to raise his self-esteem by bringing other's down?

That was some rant.

I had afraid so keshav. This is an inter-dependent world we depend on. In fact no matter which stay we live in, we are dependent on each other.

What it does it reduces our vulnerability to risks by diversifying our options rather than putting all eggs in a basket

If you don't have it, you have to depend on others. Alternately, we can continue to use traditional fuels such as coal, wood, cowdung etc.

Uranium for Nuclear plants
by Loga on Jul 07, 2008 07:12 PM  Permalink

If India don't seal this N-Deal then it will be impossible for India to get Uranium for New and old Nuclear plants.
Indian Scientist need next 50 years of research for making Nuclear plant by using Thorium it is still a dream.
Without signing Nonproliferation Treaty India can't get Uranium for Nuclear plants from any country in the world.
Australia has the world 60% of uranium reserves.

PM expect he can rule the country well with support of SP and other small parties. He will have to struggle to keep these parties more than he struggled to keep left him. Time will tell. I do not think he can continue the government for full 5 years.

Bad News for you. MPs gravitate to the winning party.

A SP-Cong tieup in UP will push BJP third place, probably not opening its account - losing their current 15 seats.

A SP-JDS-Cong tieup for the Lok Sabha in Karnataka will ensure BJP will not open its account - losing 18 seats they now hold.

Orissa, MP, Rajasthan & Chattisgarh - NDA/BJP governments face a strong anti-incumbency wave -BJP expected to significantly lose seats

WB - a Congress-TMC tieup will imply Congress/UPA will get more seats at the cost of Commies. Kerala the Commies are poised for a white wash. Cong to gain 20 seats

This is the reason why prospective lossers in the next elections, Commies, BSP and BJP instinctively came together in an attempt to topple the government. It was a panic, knee-jerk reaction!

It is a pity,if WE,PRESENT GENERATION PEOPLE can not save our country and our next generation. In fact,in absence of sufficient fuel like Petrol,Diesel etc.a developing country has to EITHER develope other sources OR have nuclear energy for Power, OR...OR...stop to use fuel based vehicles at-least once or twice a week,there-by save fuel.

PM to approach IAEA
by kv raghuram on Jul 07, 2008 07:03 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

PM is doing the right thing in the interest of nation. The Left parties will now stand isolated, due to their dogmatic attitude towards the Indo-US civilian nuclear deal.

The BJP must act in the national interest, not to usherin a no confidence motion against the UPA in the parliament. They must even support the government to complete its term. This is what the people want at this juncture
