The western countries know this technology is not safe and economical... even for a trouble free western country.. and for a country like India its even more unsafe and that too with a technology out sourced its going to cost us a lot.
This govt should not rush into the deal with Bush, instead nogotiate and get a good deal if its worth it.

also put down the actual kWh produced till date and the expense on power genration and distribution. you may take the capital cost and amortize over life of project.
solar energy is unreliable ... and uses vast land which could be used for growing crops and/or homes ... so there is an oppostunity cost of land too.

Of course all these have a place in an energy security strategy. But these, jokers suggest wind, solar, etc as sort of a panacea, little appreciating that each has its limitations and advantages.
For e.g. wind energy can be tapped mostly in coastal areas. Coal - mining and distribution is expensive so it makes a coal based power plant in Karnataka depending on coal supplies from Bihar unviable. We can't locate a nuclear plant in heavily densely populated area. Solar cells are expensive and to-date cannot match mass power generation requirements.
All action have unintended consequences. Sonia parivaar is now finished. All the fake make up on MMS as financial wizard mainly created by the slavish English media is also coming off. Truth like water finds its way.
What India MUST demand for permanent seat on the UN Security council. India has been jerked around by G8 particularly USA as an incognito push over third rate country since Nehru's time.
