terri toh subb maar rahe hein and now you resort to lowly tactics .. you have no respect for labor ... I am sure that you down look upon the waiter serving you or the cook making your food or the plumber fixing your leak or the man mowing your lawn ... you look down upon them as if you are superior and they are not.
This is what makes Indians a pathetic lot ... they do not have respect for labor ... they think that eating off their parents income until they are 20-25 is cool and their birth right. In the west, kids begin to work early and they use their income to fund their education.
When will the Indian mentality change? if it ever will.

I just wanted to dig a hole into the argument of those nuclear loonies who are saying that nuclear energy is replacement for oil.

no one ever said that nuclear energy is a repalcement for oil ... it will help generate more electricty which is already in short supply and in some cases such as with railways, abundance of electricty will move the burden from diesel.

no. the gas is expensive there because of govt. taxes ... not because it costs more in France. The govt. taxes gasoline because it wants to discourage private transportation.
In India for example diesel costs less than petrol ... it used to ... I don't know if it is still cheaper ... it is not because diesel costs less than petrol, but because diesel is taxed less than petrol is.

China has only a couple of nuclear plants under inspection under 123 agreement where as India is forced to bring 14 of her plants under inspections.
Hyde act prevents sell of dual use technology items to India.
US president would have to certify every year ( like for Pakistan ) that India is not making nuclear weapons. India would have to show how much weapon grade nuclear material it has.

the hype surrounding the n-deal that it being a panacea which would solve all our energy problems os all trash perpetrated by malicious people under the cia's payroll.
1. Uranium can only be used in the generation of electricity. Whereas oil imported by us is used in transportation field. So, the nuclear reactors even after being set will no way reduce our dependence on oil. It would only lead to supplanting coal, gas currently being used to generate electricity.
2.World over, construction of nuke reactors is diminishing. So, the business involved in them are under heavy loses. That explains them pressuring the US govt to find them a market to sell their products in india.
3.Uranium prices have increased 10 fold in the last 6 years, much less than oil speculation. Infact uranium prices are monopolistic controlled by a few cartel of govts. That is uranium prices can go up and down drastically at the whims and fancies of this small cartel.

The subject of debate has changed from the N-deal to 'political horse trading'. Disgusting indeed. The Congress which delivered freedom for India is trying to take it back and give it to somebody else. Posterity will not pardon them.
The deal is the outcome of the 2005 declaration. It permits US to change their laws, not India regarding this deal.
Our present installed capacity is 128182 MW. Share of nuclear power is 3900 MW. (3%). We plan to add 6,800 MW (Nuclear power) in 10 years. This is about 3% of the targeted capacity of 200000 MW in ten years. It will take 10 years to build and commission a nuclear project if all goes well which seldom happen in India. Unit cost for Nuclear Power is around rupees ten crores per MW in 2007. By a lapse of 10 years, unit price of power will be around Rs 20/- per unit. (Assumption) taking into account the cost escalations due to inflations etc. There will be all sorts of impediments from 'special interests' foreign and Indian in the smooth completion of projects. We have to approach several agencies and establishments (Foreign) for supply of many parts of the plant and to get certified. In that case we will be forced to go for TURN-KEY projects. That is disastrous to our economy. Intrusion by foreign powers into our Thorium plants/research institutions is another subject which needs attentions. According to the many reports and articles there are provisions in the Hyde act for the US to peep into all our installations. The frequent

The frequent trip by US delegates to pressurise MMS and party to sign the deal is intriguing. McCain promised 100 nuclear plants in US. It is to make India feel that they are going to build more plants. May be, they are about to demolish old plants and dump them in India as second hand equipment. By this way they can solve the problem of disposal of radioactive equipment. Most of the nuclear plants in US are old enough to discard. Nuclear waste can not be disposed in the US as their rules are are very stringent.

Nothing to show as achievement? This is just one of the Goebbelian lies which knickerwallahs are spreading, elections being near. Provided is an extract from Business Standard:
"Start with the performance of the economy. Its growth rate last year has been upped from 8.7 per cent to 9 per cent, taking the average rate of growth in the four years of the Manmohan Singh government to 8.9 per cent. I cannot think of any other government that would not make a bit of a noise about such stellar success, and draw comparisons with the record of its predecessor (5.9 per cent over six years) — showing a jump of 50 per cent. Or take agriculture, whose annual growth during the UPA term has been 3.6 per cent — again a jump of nearly 50 per cent, and the best record since the 1980s."

Rocker, is thatit -"MY opinion is that thereshould be R&D regarding solar energy to reduce cost and increase efficiency as it has tremendous potential in a country like india."
For this you want the deal scrapped??
The nuclear deal is geared to serve our short term needs. We have already invested large amount in reactors using uranium, which because of lack of uranium and spare parts, are running 50% of capacity.
Our medium-long term strategy focus on fast breeders which use thorium which are outside the deal. These will come on-stream in 10-15 years. Till then we need to increase capacity utilization of our old generation reactors, which we have placed under safeguards.
This is the best deal we can get. We keep our militray and fast breeders and all future reactors out of the deal.

LOL ... the best in the world are busy doing that reasearch ... on improving efficiency and bringing cost of solar panels down ... India doesn't have to start from the bottom in this research .... when there is a breakthough, we can all benefit.
Congress have ruled the country for 60 years making false claims and promises, this nuclear deal is another chapter in their story. Indians wll take another 10 years to realize that this whole nuclear deal was nothing but an advertizing campaign by the congress for Loksabha election 2009

You nonsense fool, don't behave like an ostrich or sea-urchin. Open your eyes and think of your self and your next generations... oh sorry you should not bother about your generations to come because you are pet of madam italaiana and you can not breed further. All congresses are made like that. Only Nehru & Co. Breeds and other congressmen’s are no-breeder. Enjoy your ugly life LOLing and writing at Rediff and stay happy for nothing. You have got stamp president, prime minister, education minister, health minister, Lalu, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Vice President, Election Commissioner got installed with the wishes of Madam Itliana and .... You are born reamin Slave. You must be from OBC or SC/ST category and must have been offered money to stand in support of Nuclear Deal. Sonia Mammi ne kaha hoga, Beta Aacchi Cheez Hai.. and Voila.. YOu don't want to know the exact text of the deal.

Thank congress for the leadership it provided over the 48 years that it ruled. India is much ahead of where it started some 60 years ago.
