The way this deal is being pushed and literally forced sounds rather fishy and sometimes even a desperate attempt to save some people.
If there was more transperency people wouldnt have opposed and as such India needs to focus more on clean energy source like solar / wind and not nuclear.
Nuclear energy in countries like India where corruption is very high could pose a grave threat to the nation and the world.
But apparently some people seem to be determined to justify such deals come what may.
Yeah, the Commies are not corrupt-funny that the last official report stated that over 65% of all goods given to govt distributions shops(which by the way, are owned almost exclusively by Communist party loyalists) are stolen by these same Commies. And for the record, while Jyoti Basu was all gung-ho doing a Pol-Pot, destroying WB's industrial base and economic (evil reminders of imperialist capitalists) running every single PSUs/PSEs into the mud, his very own son became the biggest bizniss-man(read capitalist)in this here workers paradise of the peoples proletariat called WB, or more affectionately known as Bongland.

I do not have anything against Nuclear-deal so long it is done transparently and in an unrushed manner. Congress should make the IAEA negotiations open to public and all political parties. No not just summary but the WHOLE draft. As they say the devil lies in the detail. Congress should allow a fully televised parliamentary debate on the nuclear deal. If doubts over the deal are not resolved then Congress should not go ahead with the deal. And it should refrain in appeasement of Bush at the cost of domestic support for the deal.

A change in govt would not change the ground realities. Neither MMS/Ms. Sonia, nor the Communist leaders are running the show. It is the responsibility of the civil servants (oh no, our Masters) who implement the policies to ensure that the benefits goes to the targetted audience.
Hope you are aware of the case of an IAS Officer from Bihar who was lauded for his "good works" and also appeared on the cover page of Time Magazine, now cooling his heels behind bars for corrupt practices!

Who are more corrupt than the Congress and SP leaders. They are all Billionnaires, but without any qualifications. LEFT leaders are most honest; they have little assets which they have earned or got from the family. No bosy can say they are corrupt. What is the reason that WB has got zero growth? What LEFT is doing to uplift their own people? They MAY BE HONEST, INTELLIGENT PEOPLE as you say & most of us believe, but at the end of the day, why the situation is not improving? Please highlight if possible. They have raised VALID QUESTIONS for Nuclear Deal to UPA Govt. which MMS & His colleagues are not ready to answer. Which shows that they are doing a hush-hush deal with US. Regards!

What is the reason that WB has got zero growth? Because India since 1947 particularly since 1965 has exploited WB, giving it no money for either Refugee rehabilitation, or industry or anything else. Without money nothing can happen. In India money is in the hand of the central government. All depends how much central government will give to the states. Gandhi-Nehru were anti-Bengali; that was also true about others. Only for the last 4 years WB got something, but from now it will get nothing at all.

Gandhi Nehru days were over ages ago, Nobody is anti-bengali, if you can not support your own industries which are being run, then why blame others,as a matter of fact you guys believe in agitation & no hard work, That is not call of the day, people have to work hard & support PVT Industries to flourish in their states. We have to do some soul searching, & do not forget that Bengal has the richest culture adorable by whole India, & they have the best BRAINS ever produced but their ENERGY should be used for CONSTRUCTIVE TASK & not for destructive purpose. If deal is a genuine one and minus sparing our security principles and minus corruption that comes at times with the deals,we don,t have any reason to fear the deal,if one is scared of Nuclear plants around in ones town,the first fear should come from the gas cyclinder full or half which is found in every kitchen.

Mr.Dipak Bose, let us give credit where it is due. Abdul Kalaam is a good role-model for the youth of our country. If not anything else, his rise from a humble background to the Rashtrapati Bhavan is an inspiring story.
Of course I also do not endorse the views of Abdul Kalam on the nuclear issue.
