Nuclear issue has become izzat kaa sawaal for US and India ? What is this izzat
US -- Having lost its people and arms in Iraq and Afghanistan and MONEY TO Pakistan to wipe out terrorism, India's Nuclear issue is only last hope to get back Republicans back to power amidst UNTIRING OSAMA AND TIREDLESS OBAMA with MONKEY GOD making worse still.
SONIA CONGRESS IN INDIA - Fuel prices making inroads into INFLATION, Amarnath sitting on TOP, Ramsetu dipping from SOUTH beneath. Far too worse with loosing elections in karnataka and many other states.
THE TIME HAS COME TO JOIN WITH THE GLOBAL FORCES with desi touch of Samajwadi Party

Congress is being prevented from selling out India's interests---and congressis can't tolerate that. Selling India to the highest bidder is their birth right and izzt ka sawal.

There are currently 53 operating nuclear power plants in Japan. The ten FEPC member companies own and operate 49 Light Water Reactors (LWR). for more search for pages in google with" nuclear plants in japan"

Do you know what are the power tariffs in Japan.
this is from one of the links
---
Of course, you'd still be better off than Japanese and people in Europe who pay in the region of 19 cents for power they consume at home.
---
19 cents per unit--more than 10 rupees per unit
Are you telling me that Indians would ever be in a position to pay that much for power?

I m sure they are charging exhorbitant rates because of the cost of living of these people. India can easily afford this as almost operating cost is drastically less on account of fewer cost of transportation when compared with most other alternatives. It is compact in that a 1-million kilowatt nuclear power plant requires 30 tons of fuel per year versus 1.4 million tons of oil needed to fuel conventional plants. This edge allows for lower costs and less energy expenditure to extract, transport, and store uranium.

See I am stating facts and you have 'beliefs'.
Show me where nuclear plant costs less? Would you not include buildig cost into overall cost? are you kidding? 20,000 crores for 1000 MW and you call it economical?

One more thing the energy from Sun and nuclear power are both God's gift if you know how to use it. Otherwise you would not have electricity at your home, you would use sunlight.

Lets find out how much it costs vis a vis nuclear power plant and how much it costs to generate an unit. A recent such solar power plant was comisioned in West Bengal (although much lower capacity) and power per unit costs whopping 15 Rs. National govt is subsidizing 10 Rs. Lets not just produce half truths in the form of examples which suits our need. Get real, come clean.

Till now, nuclear apologists have been saying that one can not build big solar plants---yes, these can be built and will be build. No one is interested in nuclear energy except a few sonia parivaar and bribed politiicans.

Hah Finland recently comissioned a huge nuclear power plant. Solar technology is nowhere near the maturity level of nuclear power technology.

Finland plant is years behind schedule and by last count costs 20,000 crores for 1000 MW ( and still rising) ----prohibitively expensive.
RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Japan to build 1000 MW solar plant- as powerful as nuclear plant

FYI close to 25% energy comes from nuclear power in finland and they use all other forms too !! They have 4 plants the fifth one is going to be commissioned. If it had been 'prohibitively expensive' I do not think they would have even bothered. It is according to their minister 'is a very big employer, they employ 300 - 400 people each'. Anyway bottomline is we need a LOT of energy and fast, there is no way solar, wind, hydro tidal can scale up to that, in near future.
RE:RE:Japan to build 1000 MW solar plant- as powerful as nuclear plant
by Sameer on Jul 04, 2008 07:00 PM Permalink
Have you heard of economy of scale?
In 80s, the computer with 2 MW memory used to cost a million dollars now you can get 2MW for a few paise. Solar Technology is there, there has to be political courage to think outside the box.
RE:Japan to build 1000 MW solar plant- as powerful as nuclear plant
by p on Jul 04, 2008 07:05 PM Permalink
Same economy of scale will make nuclear power even more cheaper, don't you think? It is not that hard to figure that out..
With the rising costs of conventional nuclear is becoming an option now. I am not denying solar wind blah blah will help but it is just not enough and just not as reliable.
RE:Japan to build 1000 MW solar plant- as powerful as nuclear plant
by Sameer on Jul 04, 2008 07:09 PM Permalink
Not exactly, because nuclear power plants have to meet strict safety standards. Uranium prices like oil is going through the roof.
Solar panels have a life time warranty. Sun has and always been free.
RE:RE:Japan to build 1000 MW solar plant- as powerful as nuclear plant
by p on Jul 04, 2008 07:32 PM Permalink
In the Seattle area, solar panels have a yearly average output of 15 percent of their peak output. On the other hand, the average availability of nuclear power is on the order of 90 percent. Thus, using the writer's own cost numbers of $10 per watt for nuclear power and $6 per peak watt for solar power, the installed cost of solar energy in the Northwest is at a minimum 3.6 times the cost of nuclear power.
RE:RE:Japan to build 1000 MW solar plant- as powerful as nuclear plant
by p on Jul 04, 2008 07:36 PM Permalink
You are forgetting that to use solar effectively there must be some storage somewhere. This is an additional cost and problem that needs to be resolved effectively. We cannot control the sun as we can control the generation from nuclear sources. It is just not as reliable, yet.

Manmohan Singh when he was taking hard steps while liberalizing the economy attracted similar criticisms like being a US stooge.
But history recorded that he catapulted India into an economic power.
Not like Yashwant Sinha - rolling back policy initiatives and still knwn today as India's Roll Back FM and also one who pledged India's gold in 1990
Not like Advani who was made to strip of his presidentship of the BJP. Advani then had to put on his khaki knickers and prostrate himself to his RSS masters. Once he did that, the RSS permitted him as a PM candidate

Still USA is the Largest Donor of Foreign Aid to Muslim and developing countries in the world. U$122.8 billion U.S. assistance aid goes to developing countries. Percentage of USA aid to developing countries like. Afghanistan 20 % Israel 12.5 Egypt 9.5 Pakistan 3.9 El Salvador 3.3 India 1.9 Philippines 1.8 Turkey 2.0 In terms of generosity and altruism, the USA is the most stingy and self-interested giver in the developed world.

That is not aid, it is bribe to keep these countries on USA side, more specifically dictators in these countries.
BTW, Israel, El Salvadore and India are not Islamic countries.
the 'aid' remains in US banks and the countries are forced to buy US products whether they need it or not. It is a scam. And Americans think that they are the most generous people--talk of delusion.

take whatever they can. If USA is stupid, why not take advantage?
It has lost moral authority as well as financial and political clout. US cannot control even three districts of Iraq and a couple of districts of Afghanistan.
Ideally, US and India should be good friends but US wants India to be a vassal state fighting for USA. Sonia parivaar is too eager to oblige.
Memo to India---Pakistan has sucked all the juice from USA--there is nothing left in USA. Any unequal partnership with USA would become a liability.

Between UPA and Left, they left no space and margin for NDA, not even for BJP.
George Fernades, NDA convenor has become an rare species. Not to be seen or heard.
During Dr Kalam's tenure, NDA marched every Friday to submit a memorandum as they thought the President was only theirs.
After Dr Kalam's tenure, that also has stopped.
So no more 70mm picture of NDA leaders standing before the Rashtrapati Bhavan. [ Poor Sushma never got the space even in the male dominated NDA picture.]
After awe and shock, Advani's political harakiri in Pakistan, NDA and BJP in particular lost the relevance.
Waiting for that magical september to come when the Govt. would fall as predicted by Astrologers to Bajpayee.
Alas! Stars not in favour.
Havans would not work.
Advani tried all tricks of Bajpayee to create a new avtar. Asked BJP to get close to Muslims and Christians. Even went to Sonia with folded hands. But the magic did not work.
A chance came when the Left hardened their stance.
But poor Advani still not in the picture. All TRP's are taken by UPA, Left and now SP. Nobody gives an inch to Advani !
Where is our new pseudo-secular Advani?
Doing havan? Check the ghee you are using Mr Advani? Can't trust the traders; even if they are hardcore BJP supporters.
Which side are you facing Mr Advani during havan? Sit 11 degree North West of Parliament.
Finding it difficult to assess where the PM chair in the Parliament?

well said Mohanty..
BJP has failed on all fronts to deliver the Hindus the Ram temple..to make J&k an Indian state,to make an uniform civil code,to solve the Bofors issue,to solve the problems with pakisthan & China..5 yrs was more than enough.. advani of late glorified Jinnah as secular..and also said Hijack and terrorist swap he wasnt aware...
what did the BJP do in 5 yrs...sold almost all PSUs to their curry men..looted this nation and filled their party pockets..poor Mahajan refused to give a/c details hence was eliminated..
the BJP leaders dint even visit the Funeral ceremony of Sam Ji...the Person who defeated our nations enemy...
yeah the only thing BJP did was increase the Haj Subsidy, salary of Inams, open more Madrasas..give the Muslims more SOPS..all at the cost of the Christians..while the Christians Nuns were raped, properties burnt and destroyed..cases registered against them,re-conversions carried out...etc etc..these were the only things done during their tenure...
