'It is not lack of guts, but we are being reasonable'
by James Bond on Jul 04, 2008 03:56 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Commis ki phat gayee. Earlier their stand was the moment PM will proceed for G-8, we will move to President House with the letter of withdrawl of support. Since, SP has slipped in commies boots, chinese agents are finding it difficult to believe that they will be defeated by their most trusted friend, Mulayam singh.

The picture is foggier than ever

In this whole game of politics, the rationale behind the nuclear deal has been sidelined. Manmohan Singh, inspite of his good reputation, has not been truthful to the nation on this issue. He has neither convinced nuclear scientists, nor defence experts, nor even the common man. The nuclear energy cry given recently is, put simply, rubbish. I do not support our Reds, but I definitely do not support India being dictated terms by the US, which has the least concern for the truth or relationships.

The problem is we always beat around the bush and go on a tangent and in the process lose the main thrust. With NPT and the avowed disarmament policy if a condition is put that in the event of your testing a weapon supplies would be stopped, what is wrong in it? Where are you going to get the supplies but for the deal? Why one should take a hypothetical stand that it puts a stop to your weaponisation programme? You are supposed to have standardised your weapons and no more testing is required. You need to steeply increase your energy production with your energy requirements increasing by leaps and bounds with your growth. Your nuclears plants are starved of fuel. In the circumstances where is the threat to your sovereignity or that US is dictating terms. In the given circumstances, any country would stipulate the same condition. It only reminds me of a saying that aunt would become chacha if she develops a mustache. God Help Us.!!!

The Left strategy
by Vijayaraghavan on Jul 04, 2008 03:50 PM  Permalink

The Left party always wants to stay in the News. They do not have the back bone to stand alone in the elections and will ride on somebody's back, then they will start scratching their back

Let's not mix up for the National interest

Lots of Forum participants tend to mix up and talk extreme things either for or against the nuclear deal.

We must clearly understand that 123 agreement is for civilian use of nuclear technologies and resources.

And USA simply wants India to ratify that.

This is the reason we are clearly separating the reactor for Civilian uses and military uses for the International audience.

Our civilian reactors would be for International scrutiny. But not the reactors for military use.

We have to have clear "audit process" for the resources bought under 123 agreement.

We do not have such obligation for our reactors for military use and resources obtained from outside the 123 agreement.

The agreement text has been vetted by even BJP politicians and have praised in private.

The communists do not have any objections and all their 9 points have been addressed adequately by Indian negotiators.

But the actual story is different.

BJP needs to oppose. Because this has been secured for India by Sonia Gandhi and her team.

The communists need to oppose. Because they still can not do business with Amerians, even though China is a great beneficiary of American Wealth in today's time.

Who cares for the nation ?

The party is bigger than the Nation.

And some lunatics having great time and having a party seeing the Government of the day is not able to honour its International treaty.

Just think about it.

Prabhat, I just thought about what you wrote.. but get your facts right. BJP was the initiator of this deal, and it praised the deal in private when the benefits for India were laid out, and it did appreciate the negotiators (as per my knowledge).
The only opposition that the BJP is raising is that there should be no restriction on India from performing militiary nuclear tests as a part of the treaty. This is undeniably a justified demand. No civil nuclear technology/material is worth our power of a nuclear deterrent.

If the P.M. comes in public and clarify that no such restriction shall be imposed on India, then it should settle the matter once and for all; no matter what the communists feel, the deal will be welcomed in the Parliament.

It's has been said again and again by American and Indian negotiators, that the "right to test lies with India".

You see, you are presuming India to be very backward country as far science is concerned.

India is not.

In recent years, developed countries have not nuclear devices that does not mean they are not perfecting the nuclear devices or they have stopped working on nuclear weapons.

The future of nuclear test is in lab.

Who knows India is already in that league and India may just want a public ban on the nuclear test.

Ban on nuclear test will affect less scientifically advanced countries or countries with less resources.

With God's grace now India has both.

Who cares about tests ?

Israel does not. Neither Pakisthan nor India did.

Infact moving away from underground tests ( anyway it will be opposed by people and environmentalists in times to come ) gives India strategic advantages.

We are good in Super Computers, Parallel processing , visualisation, simulations...

India fares well when restrictions are applied.

We got our Super computers exactly in that manner and for a peanuts.

We will innovate.

Trust Indians. We are the biggest "jugadoos".

And American know that and fear that too.

They want India on their side.

So enjoy the game friend.

Stay focussed on the end-game.

The country decides what is more important.

Nuclear test or Power.

The risk is always there. When we decide to test, we take all these risks into account.

In western world, business houses are known to have powerfull lobbies. China makes all mistakes, but USA ignores; because USA can't stop dealing with China.

We too need to progress and get economically strong.

Then we will have cake and eat it too.
