Mumbai Traffic
by PERVEZ AKHTER on Jul 04, 2008 03:57 PM  Permalink

I am one of the victim of traffic chaos in Mumbai. I commute daily from Andheri to VT.

In my opinion the Mumbi traffic Cops are least bothered about the plight of the common people as they are not trained for traffic Management.

There should be provision for No-Entry timing for Heavy Vehicles,No traffic signals during peak hours but manual traffic control etc. etc.

trafffic chaos at powai day-after-day!
by Anand Menon on Jul 04, 2008 03:57 PM  Permalink

If there's one place that beats every other place in traffic chaos, it's dfinitely powai.
people have to literally wait for hours just to cross a strech of less than a km. There is so much of fuel wasted on a daily basis.Compounding to the traffic is the presence of big trailers and trucks. Why cant the government ban the entry of huge trailer and truckers during peak hours. It is dome in south bombay.why not suburban bombay as well?

Traffic Havoc on 4th July at Gandhinagar(Vikhroli west)
by amitkumar jha on Jul 04, 2008 03:55 PM  Permalink

Mumbai is famous for everything especially for its evil traffic conditions during these monsoon days & Adi Sankaracharya Marg(Powai)is the worst affected. For a 15 min journey it takes around 2 hrs & if there is any vehicle breakdown it becomes a memorable day in ones life i mean the worst nightmare that commuter of this route are experiencing since this Vik-Jog link Rd is under development assisted by World Bank Project.I wonder the loss of time & energy(fuel) that it is causing in this evereday's fuel price hiking market. I hope Concern Authority is doing its best for timely completion of V-J Link RD project,if not they should be serious by now considering inflation rate & incessant hike in fuel prices.

bombay roads
by Guest on Jul 04, 2008 03:53 PM  Permalink

There are places and wide conjestion free roads elsewhere in india itself.why don't you guys take a review about your career and life and think of relocating to such places .Or atleast take tour to such places and take a look at how ur life would be in the years to come over there
For ages we seem to have been fuming about the inefficiencies of the people in power.Neither they seem to change nor do we.Let us change first then let us expect others to change

Give road contract to Delhi contractors
by Neerav Kapasi on Jul 04, 2008 03:52 PM  Permalink

Roads in DElhi are quite good. BMC should cancell all contarcts given to existing road contractors and give it to the ones who made Delhi roads. But it will not happen as BMC waants to make crores every year by way of bribes and conditions on roads will remain like this only. People in Mumbai travels like hell be it on road or in trains.

Better to privatise the traffic
by kollipara ravi on Jul 04, 2008 03:48 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is better to privatise the traffic immediately without wasteing time. Current traffic police are not able to handle the mumbai traffic.Unskilled, Irresponsible.
Only for collecting money.

Maybe the police are not good. But it is not easy to stand in the midst of exhaust fumes all the time. Neither is it easy to discipline motorists who believe that you should jump a red light when the cop is not looking, does not matter whether you kill yourself and some innocent guy in an accident as a result. Mumbai cops are better than most I have seen elsewhere.

6 month mayhem
by heaven on Jul 04, 2008 03:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In the last 6 months....roads are the same...traffic has increased multi-fold....so what does the Govt do...build more flyovers, which take a min of 2.5 to complete....the airport flyover is a disaster....why cant they set a target for completion?
I travel to Nariman Pt every day by road....first I used to drive, then in sheer exhaustion, I kept a driver........now the driver is also exhausted along with me, and I pay him for that!! I used to take the dockyard road, which used to be a 1 hr flat drive, only 6 months ago to N Pt, now it takes me at an average of 1.5 hrs...and on the way back....2hrs min!!! And I dont live is Pune....I am just off Ghatkopar!!
