It will be a sadest day in Indian political history that political parties are bent upon to scuttle nuclear power deal with USA where good reserves of uranium available .One way we are talking about globanisation other way our political parties have not been able to make a concensous on the deal .The falacy of the political parties are that people of our country want the deal .It means these anti deal parties are not working for the people of India for further development of our country .The funny thing is that people of India cannot throw them out of politics because of our so called democratic system in which they again vote them to power in the election whether it is fair or unfair .If the deal does not materialised then blame should go to Congress party only beacause in the name of checking communal forces out of power they are sleeping with left parties who never did any developmental or any pro Indian job for the country as per the history of Indian Politics from before or after independence .The glaring example of 30 years misrule in West bengal .Again this is a funny thing for people of India .More over Congress allways thing that apart from UPA parties they never bother to consult BJP and other parties at all and feel BJP and the followers are anti India which constitute more than 60 % population of India This again a falacy that this populations are also in favour of the deal because we all want power for development but the anti deal political parties want power b

i fail to understand how come opposing some clauses in the deal are anti national? let us check the development in the states ruled by the so called anti national parties (BJP as per your inclination). Gujarat, Orissa, Rajasthan.... Thus your argument doesn't even hold any face value. grow up and get a grip...

I am International Relations student and have studied the deal issues in lot more details. This treaty is not something great for the country, so dont get carried away that this is the best thing could happen to our country. It would take at least 15 to 20 years before you could realise some benefits of the treaty. Cost of this is huge to India, both commercially/financially and strategically. We would virtually lose right to conduct nuclear tests. If we do, we would have to virtually pay back to the countries like US out of nose.

Kamal ...how naive is ur thoughts..inspite of being an IR student..

The treaty is good for India..as we have no fuel to further run our Nuke program..thats the end without fuel..no one gives fuel without US nod..not even Russia..nor even Australia..nor can China..as it itself buys from the ozzies...

WE need massive tech from the NSG groups to complete our Kamini Thorium based reactors..already its in a very advanced stage,,but will not see day light inspite of 35Yrs of research and development..costing this nation billions of dollars..all due to our not being pally with US..
we neednt buy costly reactors from USA..so much so for ur foolish talk that its going to cost us Billions..
we are getting what we want from NSG..in simple terms hard core tech...even if we spend billions and spend another 30 yrs on our own we cannot build that..so best is to buy it..share it learn from them..then say good bye to them..once we get our Th reactors in place..we do not need any Uranium..we can give back them theirs..

Who are you kidding Varghese? Every day the US establishment, from Rice, to various ambassadors and State Department emissaries have been trying their level best to cajole and pressurise India into signing the deal. What is the big deal in all this? Simple: Contracts, by the tens of billions. They have ripped off Iraq for several hundred billions, running a contractor raj that is full of Republican cronies, including Vice President Dick Cheney's former employers. The irony is that India will be willingly led into this trap by a nominal Prime Minister of India, a man without spine, who has suffered being slapped in public with slippers (metaphorically
speaking) for the past 4 year by the communists, and by the likes of Natwar Singh, Arjun Singh, et al.

We have never received a straight answer to a very simple question: Will India, by signing this deal, forefeit the right to test nuclear weapons? If yes, then the deal is not worth it.

Don't even once fool yourself into believing that the US will supply the latest nuclear technology. They will dump their old nuclear reactors and recycled fuel. At exhorbitant prices. And THIS money will go to finance new reactors, new technologies for the US. And then the cycle will begin again after 15-20 years.

Don't believe it? Years ago, when India was receiving aid-tied with ropes from the US- Indian companies were forced to import from the
US. Simple generics like aspirin were being supplied at markups of 1000% Socho Varghese, socho

You are wrong. Have you seen the full text of the treaty before pretending as a knoledgeable person? You still are a student not an authority on the subject. Stay in school and learn. Kalam is an authority in this subject.

BJP want to get their hands in the money bag; nothing else. They don't care about the future of India. It's no better than any other party in India.

Ch-babu naidu betraying india, NTR's spirit will curse him.
by viswanatha seshadri on Jul 03, 2008 08:34 PM  Permalink

Chandra babu naidu, by joining with the basically anti-national leftists and the kamsa-yadava mulla-vadi mulayam against the PM's nuclear deal for the country's energy-security independant of the islamic oil/gas of middle-east, has proved to be an unpatriotic self-centred politician. The spirit of his father-in-law NTRama Rao, the founder of the trilinga-deSa {AP: blessed by 3 important siva shrines} party, will curse him for this. The spirits of the founders of the Jana Sangh, including that of Jay Prakash, will also curse Adwani for refusing to offer bi-partisan support for a deal that ensure non-islam-bound energy for india. Vajpai would have acted differently.
Bhaarata maata, an amSav of the cosmomom, will punish those who betray national interests, placing selfinterest higher than national interest.

This UNPA thing is another Threat. Next time they are going to screw up the whole equation. With Mulayam at it's helm they will never support BJP. I fear to see Mulayam sitting as PM with 100 seats of UNPA, 50 seats of congress and 80 seats of left.
And NDA sitting in opposition with 200 odd seats.
When will our India rise ??? During Vajpayee time US newspapers started writing India Competing with US and European Natiosns. We are back competing with Pakistan/ Bangladesh

The calculation seems wrong at the outset. North and North-East is burning, the entire nation is burdened with inflation/high food prices, the congress chamchas are looting the public with "PREMIUM" Petrol (ordinary is sold as premium), farmers r dying in thousands, no home/water/electricity/roads etc., in this scenario, congies getting 50 seats ?! and left getting 80 ?!! The whole joker bunch of UPA/Left is heading to get at the best 150 seats.
