Year after year Mumbai standing at one place running towards improvement..
by Manoj M Ghule on Jul 01, 2008 11:19 AM  Permalink

We were on way to Pune on a official visit but had to come back from Goregaon area itself. Every where water clogging could be seen. I fail to understand where all the money goes? It is very clear all the water flows in side the house in Mumbai and all the money for improving drainage system flows inside corrupt officers and politicians pockets..

Rain - My saviour
by Abhishek Chatto on Jul 01, 2008 11:16 AM  Permalink

It was 30th June 2007. I was to catch a flight from Mumbai to Hyderabad at 6am. The previous night for some reason I slept late.I OVERSLEPT !! My friend, who was also to travel with me, also OVERSLEPT. When we woke up it was 5:50am !! Both of us looked at each other & we did not know what to say !! I quickly moved the curtains to see that it was rainig cats & dogs !! I thought last chance !! Both of us rushed to the airport. The flight was delayed by half an hour - But by the time we reached the flight was ready to take off !! So again we were stood gazing at each other !! Within 5 mins, an official came back to tell us that the flight was called back & every one was asked to deboard the flight - Some technical problem !! Eventually the flight was cancelled. We were shifted to a flight later in the day at no extra charge. An amazaing day of my life - which I would cherish every time when I fly !!

7/26
by som bhopal on Jul 01, 2008 11:03 AM  Permalink

Hi, I am from Bhopal and cant forget July, 26th. I was stucked at kurla station from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. in the room of station master. First sitting on the bench, then on a chair placed on the bench, then again a stool on the chair and standing on the stool whole night. Horrible tale to share. Next morning came out at 9 with some group of college students, walked till chembur in water till chest and managed to share a hotel room with a kind aged person from delhi. Hope it never occurs again in mumbai. My salute to all mumbaikars who come together in crises.

by srmtj jan on Jul 01, 2008 10:39 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I work in MIDC Andheri(E), I started off from Andheri(W) Lokhandwala, due to water-logging at Lokhandwala near Infiniti Mall, Veera Dasai Road, Andheri Station Market, it is very difficult to reach Station. I suggest people not to take this route.

Enjoyable journey to office.
by jitendra khalpada on Jul 01, 2008 10:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I m working with Tata Power & my office is at Masjid (east), near Carnac Bridge I came from Nallasopara & get down at dadar as usual but no trains were going towards CST & hence I again went to Westren line & came to Marine Lines .

I waited 10 minutes but No taxis were available hence I chosed to go Walkie. I really enjoyed the rain while walking thro' Road connecting Metro Talkies & Carnac Brigde. Full Vaccant Road, Closed Shops I feel I am walking in Curfiew like areas. Really I enjoyed today reaching my office.

Rush before its too late
by Aroop Dhar on Jul 01, 2008 10:23 AM  Permalink

The heavy downpour of the morning gave me an indication that things wont be good in this overcrowded city. I wanted to leave for office asap to avoid the traffic jams and the overcrowded buses (I take the BEST route).

Wading through the waterlogged streets of santacruz, I managed to get a bus at about 8:40. The roads were surprisingly free, and I reached the Worli office by 9:15..Guess things worsened only after that.

I prefer being an early bird on such days!!
