sad
by asdfg on Jul 01, 2008 08:20 PM  Permalink

I got to this page thinking that it was the UPA president talking about creating leaders, but then figured it was about the most prestigious NDA chief talking about leadership and read the whole article. But I bet there are people who would have got to this page and then just closed it to go and type some senseless stuff on other news. It is very sad to know that people don't give due respect to the academy which serves the nation unconditionally. Where would all of you be if you don't have FREEDOM. don't take the people in UNIFORM lightly. Thank them whenever you meet them. They don't want anything else but your good wishes and blessings. May God bless them.

Jai Hind.....

It is a beautiful exposition of the qualities and skills that the NDA has been a hall mark for long. Some 50 years back every bright adventurous student who had some exposure to NCC yearned to become an officer in the armed forces and prepared for the NDA entrance, but over the years competing professions that assured a better living standard and a stable life took precedence, besides the frequent exposure of scams and antics of officers in the higher echelons which had cumulatively scarred the army beyond any cosmetic repair.A.M.Randhawa has done a nice job but the interviewer had failed to bring out the administration of justice in the armed forces or the grievance redressal procedure which is still mooreed in the 19th century.Lastly the Air Marshal has failed to explain as to why such well trained cadets when they become officers in the army require the Jawans of a free country like India to polish their shoes and buckles besides running their house-hold and chaperoning their wifes and children. That the Commandant is from IAF,probably mitigates the culpability.

Shortage of Officers in Indian Army
by N.P.Sharma on Jul 01, 2008 06:06 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Reference to various articles and media news , Why is it that Army selects 300 to 400 cadets out of 300k , Why not to select on YEARLY BASIS , atleast 2.5% at NDA level & 1.5% at CDS Level & 1% among professionals (Engineering Medicos ) corps level compared to Total officers requirement of Indian Army. So that even if there is a dropout Army should not suffer.

This makes a total of 5% selections thus 20 years back up for service cycle Time.

In addition to above 1% selections for SSB Short Service commissioned officer WILL make up the shortages against " In service attritions, martyers and enhanced demand."

why army select only 300-400 people. because SSB has its own standard. they dont want to put square peg in round hole. they want some of the officer like qualities. if you have, u r in otherwise no way and its sad part of indian population that SSB is not able to find right man. thats why they select what they get. moreover it is the secret of their success that we won all the war with pakistan

probably ur mixing up between 1962 and 1965 wars. India terribaly lost in 1962(with China) but won in 1965. many young ppl dont know tht we faught total five wars with Pak 1948, 1962, 1965, 1971 and 1999.

Right buddy, I mistook the 65 one for Chinese war. Felt that we should also look at our shortcomings and improve, instead of being proud of beating a minion country.
~Very much Indian.

You know, why the state of armed forces has become like this today because they are not a vote bank, you rightly pointed out. Govt does not get anything in return by providing any facilities to them, thats why armed forces are ignored now a days. armed forces should fight to play an active role in politics by casting their votes. proxy voting and postal ballot system should be done away with. whoever is posted at which ever constituency should vote in that constituency. for example, if a jawan is posted at lucknow, he should vote in lucknow for assembly as well as general elections. he should not send a postal vote to his home constituency. if this gets implemented then these politicians will definitely listen to the armed forces and pay commission will also do justice to them. i feel three service chiefs should take up this issue with the govt and this govt may implement this because as it is they are in troublesome times, they might get some votes from armed forces on this issue. any takers of this idea???

India should be under MILITARY RULE atleast for 10 years and MILITARY training must be made compulsory to every indian after XII for one year. All the Traitor and Rascal Politicians should be Hanged.

This will bring in a sence of Responsibility, will realise the Importance of Discipline and Hard Work.

And 80 % problems of this country will be solved.

it is very ironic that people are opting for military rule. I cleared my written NDA and went for an interview to Deharadun where I failed my PABT ( once in a lifetime in India tobecome an Air Force Pilot, the only other way to become an Air force pilot is through NCC C certificate). We had a discussion round where the topic was, should India have mandatory service in the armed forces till a certain age. I was all pro for it, but realized that it was against the democratic constitution that the Armed forces are supposed to protect. We should be proud of our Armed forces that they adhere to the constitution. Hats off to all those who serve the nation with loyalty integrity and faith regardless of their cultural or religious background. Jai Hind
