A step in the right direction
by Govind Singh on Feb 10, 2008 01:30 AM  Permalink

The PM's visit to Arunchal Pradesh is indeed a step in the right direction. The Look east policy of the Center is finally looking at the right east (and not beyond to the southeast asian countries).

It is true that North Indians..or any of the rest of India requires an inner line permit to enter Arunachal...but I think that is for the betterment of the state and for the country as a whole. The tribals of Arunchal Pradesh indeed need to preserve their culture and their diversity.

Not for the Inner line permit, the state would be full of Bangladeshis (if not citizens from other less developes states).

Hope the PM keeps to his words and facilitates the rise of this sleeping star...from the east!

Money for the corrupts
by Dipak Bose on Feb 01, 2008 12:08 PM  Permalink

All these money will be shared by the corrupt tribals of Arunachal Pradesh; the same process is going on in Nagaland, Mizoram, Sikkim, Meghalaya. These tribal leaders are blackmainling India and are getting very rich, but the eople are very poor and they will rebel. This is not the way to save these areas, which were forfeited already to the Baptist Mission Church, who is expelling all non-Christians from these areas.

!00crores?
by varun varun on Feb 01, 2008 01:23 AM  Permalink

So much money is going to be shared by a few politicians.

Gujarat, Maharashtra, Karnatak, Andhra, Kerala, Tamilnadu grow up every year by a healthy 12 to 14% economic growth. While several states like the northeast, bihar, etc suck up and bring down the national performance to really low state.

all these states should catch up and india can grow up by 12 % easily.

i will be happy to see them grow. im criticising in a healthy manner.

China is not Pakistan
by gradybush on Jan 31, 2008 09:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

we must remember China is not Pakistan. what happened was in 1962 ...40 years ago and unfortunate. China is not a failed state like the Pakis. it is simply not interested in engaging in any war because it cant afford to go to war when its developing so much and holding the olympics and all. pakistan can use the bombs and the nukes anytime because it has nothing else to do...the pakis only job is bombing and kiling people including their own...so its high time we give up this paranoia about the chinese and start working with them with trust as its going to be an asian century and its the only neighbor of ours which is stable right now...think of sri lanka bangladesh pakistan afghanistan nepal burma and bhutan...they arent even qualified enough to compete with us....

Develop North East
by gradybush on Jan 31, 2008 08:53 PM  Permalink

North East has a vast pool of English speaking people. Why doesn't any of our so called biggies like Infy Satyam and TCS build BPO and software development centres there. We should see to it that the North East is developed at the same rate as the rest of India. If they take arms against the nation which many of them are doing right now, then its our fault. People should be encouraged to invest in North East by giving sops and tax benefits. Not to mention the region's beauty , tourism should be promoted but equal care to the environment as I guess that is the only green belt left in the country.

No... these states never been burden to our nation. The truth is the leaders so far only concentrated in the growth of few north and western states only. North eastern states are totally omited by all the government so far... now only they realised its strategic location and plenty of natural resources.

imperfect details
by krish n parmar on Jan 31, 2008 07:00 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

In the begining of the article, author is saying that this is maiden visit of PM to Arunachal

Elsewhere he mentions that Dr Singh visited Arunachal in 1986.

He contradicts himself.
